Random trade thought: We could perhaps flip the injured Oladipo and (say) some of our excess 2nd round picks for Steven Adams from Memphis? Reasoning: It would extend the expiring contract into next year We probably don't have roster spots to keep all the 2nd rounders anyway Adams can probably play next year as our Sengun backup
Despite the Adams trade, I still hope we can work something out with Indy & NY. IND: Tate (HOU) NY: Holiday or Bullock (via HOU) - maybe both? + future SRP (via HOU) HOU: Grimes (NY) + Jalen Smith (IND) Could fight for the play-in this year and have a somewhat-playoff tested team to build on next year.
I would def support a move to get Gafford as well WSH: Landalw (HOU) + future SRP NY: Tate (HOU) HOU: Gaddord (WSH) + Grimes (NY) Trading Oladipo probably mean we're out on Brogdon.
HOU: Robert Williams, Moses Brown, Alec Burks POR: Jock Landale, Reggie Bullock, 2025 2RP* DET: Jeff Green, 2024 2RP* C: Sengun, (Adams), Brown, Marjanovic PF: Smith Jr., Eason, (Williams III) SF: Brooks, Whitmore, Tate SG: Green, Burks PG: VanVleet, Thompson, Holiday *2RP may be overpay? For this 2023-2024 season, Burks can be a great secondary playmaker and shooter. Brown can be the backup center though I'd rather an upgrade if possible. For 2024-2025 season have 2 backup centers that have elite skills: Adams with screens and offensive rebounds and Williams with blocks and lob threat. Great for physical playoffs. Let them alternate playing games as primary backup to rest and heal throughout the season. Re-sign Burks or find a free agent PG/SG depending on other future trades.
Houston in Coby White Andre Drummond Chicago in Filler contracts (Landale, random dudes who aren't getting rotation minutes in Boston) 2024 first round pick (Brooklyn, unprotected mid-lottery) 2024 first round pick (Boston, likely to be around #30) Boston in Jae'Sean Tate 2024 second round pick (Brooklyn, likely to be around #40)
So Houston gets the two best players in the deal while only giving up trash and a second rounder... lol very realistic.
Jalen Green+Tari Eason+Steven Adams (if not finalized)+Landale+Tate+2024 FRP via Brooklyn+2027 Rockets first for Anthony Davis and Austin Reeves. Davis Sengun/Smith Brooks/Cam Reeves FVV/Thompson
To Knicks: Pritchard #2 From Houston To Rockets: Grimes Kornet Jeffries To Celtics: Tate Knicks get Pritchard who, is signed long term and cheap to replace Grimes. He adds depth at PG. They get a second in the process. Celtics get Tate for their 3rd string PG and backup big. Rockets add a young 3 and D wing as a possible backup plan for Jalen as well as another big for depth on an expiring deal. Jeffries is cut.
Now that coach is trusting Amen with running the second unit and playing with the starters some, my want for Tyus is at an all time low. Bench: Tari, Cam, Amen, Green+Tate depending on matchup. We need a shooter and Biyombo for 3 months.
Phoenix out: '24 2nd, '26 2nd Phoenix in: Tate Detroit out: Bogdanovic Detroit in: jock, bkn'24 1st swap rights, '24 2nd, '26 2nd Houston out: bkn '24 1st swap rights, jock Houston in: bogdanovic Gives phoenix a cheap and solid rotation piece for their lack of depth. Gives detroit added ping pong balls being able to take the more favorable of theirs or brooklyns 1st and sheds a ton of salary this year and going forward. Gives us much needed shooting and another solid vet. Cash in a little bit of the brooklyn 1st value while still keeping a likely lottery pick.
