Yes to the bold. That trade has 6 players coming back but only 3 roster spots available. It does not work. They have to land in a roster spot before you can waive them. Just about every trade dreamed up in this thread breaks one trade rule or another .... be that salary cap issues or not taking into account roster space. Bottom line, to make ANY trade where they bring back more players than they send out, they have to clear a roster spot for each one. Now that trade COULD work in the offseason when the roster is expanded to 20 and they'd have 3 open roster spots. Then they could simply waive those players if that's what they intend.
Gordon / Wood / Tate for Bagley / Harkless / Thompson / Mitchell / Unprotected 2022 #1 Would need to offload Theis or Augustin for no one in a separate deal
Wood/Gordon For Adams/Brandon Clarke/Melton/LAL 2022 FRP/MEM 2022 FRP I aint mad at this. Would need to waive Augustine i guess. See what the team is like with more defense. The shooting is a bit of a concern, but Steves contract is up in a couple years. Melton is a perfect guy to share the playmaking duties with, and BC is great. Pity about his 3 point shot falling off a cliff since his rookie year but ♂️
The Grizzlies are currently 4th in the West and their identity is grit and defense. Trading those 3 PLUS 2 first round picks for Christian Wood who has trouble guarding his own shadow.... yeah I'm going to go out on a limb and say they pass.
Bulls need more size so trade Wood and Tate for Patrick Willaims and maybe Coby White? This would help our franchise
They already have 4 power forwards/centers that doesn't play any defense in Kuzma, Harrell, Bertans, and Monroe. Doubt they need another one.
Randomness that all fits together my next 3 post all go together but each trade stands on its own Melton, Green, Ingram, Martin, Sengun.
NOP Wood, Gordon & a FRP (moderately protected) …for… Ingram and (small filler) We are over spending for stability
Theis & Porter …for… Plumlee & Bouknight Move Theis contract (save 2 years) & Porter gets a new home as the 6th man. Bouknight is very interesting
We’re not getting a 1st for EG Cle has our 2022 2nd, which will be a really high 2nd, that’d be great.
I'm not so sure. I think Eric has been playing well enough to possibly nab a first. The key might be to package him with Wood. If you can get two firsts or one really good first for the package, that is a well played hand.
Some of y’all are high. We are not getting a player like Patrick Williams without giving up picks. I don’t think we can get a high impact player, let alone a good young controllable asset, with our players available. It’s just not possible. Our best chips are EG and Wood and neither are netting a former top 10 pick, y’all are delirious. Wood can maybe get us some second rounders, EG hopefully a first. Hopefully.
Why do people think we can just GIVE away our players?? This got to be the most ridiculous thing I've seen in awhile. Same with CWOOD, I've never seen anything like.
