Exactly. I think it will take two 2nds and not likely happen until the end of summer or trade deadline. It really depends on the opportunities that evade the Knicks this offseason. There has been smoke there since the Harden trade.
Rockets get - Steven Adams, Eric Bledsoe, No.10 via the Bucks, No.19 via the Knicks Pelicans get - Danuel House Jnr., Jae'sean Tate, No. 23 Knicks get - John Wall, No.24 ‐----------------------------------------------------- This is essentially salary dumping and pick swapping. -PELICANS- They get off their two biggest salary black holes in Bledsoe and Adams. While they can be good players, last season showed that New Orleans just wasnt the place for them. They give up their lottery pick yes, but still have a chance of drafting a rotation peice late in the first round, and get tbe Rockets hidden gem from last year in Jae'Sean Tate. House could help their wing rotation too. This opens up a bunch of space, and gives them ample money to throw at Lonzo. -ROCKETS- Starting their rebuild, the Rockets do exactly what a rebuilding team should. Use what they have to their advantage. In this case its their cap space and their 25 year old all rookie first team gem. They also get off Walls contract and manage to move up a few spaces. -KNICKS- After missing out on Ball and a number of othe free agents, they grab what could be the closest thing to a "star" out there in a very Knicks move. All it takes is moving back 5 spaces in the draft (19 back to 24).. and ya know.. paying John Wall $44m.
Not saying it will happen, but I could see Knicks & Cavs making a deal that benefits Rox Knicks - FRP 19 & 21 could also see a lottery protected 2022 pick instead Cavs - Love & Sexton Cavs move off Love's contract and "build for the future". Knicks get vet post player & lead guard for a better playoff push. Then Cavs send 3, 19, & 21 (or protected 2022 pick) to DET for #1 Cavs take Green to pair with Garland in "backcourt of the future" Rox take Cade; Pistons get Mobley.
Take out the Knicks pick and give one more first rounder from Houston to New York and you're closer to what it's going to take to dump Wall's contract. No way the Knicks do that deal unless they're dumping a big salary or getting miltiple firsts in return.
Rockets trade : Christian wood to golden state for kelly oubre ( sign and trade) and a future 1 round pick. We move Oubre+ daniel house and another filler to cleveland for kevin love and a first round pick. Why do we trade away Wood?. Well, we need to suck and he is good player at a good value. Best asset we have. We get 2 first round picks for him. Why do golden state do it? Wood would help their frountcort, and they get rid of oubre. Fits their timeline. Also theres talk of GS trading Wiggins, wiseman, 7 , 14 and another future for Dame, and if they pull that off, they will be positioned to win nex tyear. Why do the cavs do it? They are probably getting mobley in the draft. With that piece in place, they already have Allen at center, and garland and sexton at the guard position. They could use a wing that is decent enough and they get rid of kevin love contract, wich we can absorb, as we dont care if we suck. We can even buy him out.
I don’t like the logic—-we need to suck so we should trade our good young player. That’s dumb. We should keep the talented young guy that likes being in Houston, with friends on the team, and an agent that works with other clients in the league….unless some one BLOWS US AWAY with an offer Well suck with wood, but we’ll have a core that is young and can grow together…we don’t trade him unless he says he is open to being traded. He fits a rebuilding timeline if we accelerate it because green or Mobley gets really good really fast
I dont think wood is a building block for the future. People overrate him waay to much. He weights less than 100kg.
Wood is 25 years old and averaged 20 and 10 with a .6 TS% and a .375 average from 3. If anything, he’s underrated
I like it a lot, but we maybe able to sell to the NYK by changing 19 to 32. Oddity in this draft it’s the same tier player but a lot more palatable for their fan base —> NYK get a FRP & an all star. Going down 8 spots to clear Wall’s contract is a bargain and we get a much more team friendly contract from SRPs.—> same tier player (24=32 in this draft).
I am sorry to mention this but I think many of our posters are making a very big mistake. Please do not suggest trading Tate, as he is one of our best up and coming players, I think he will break out this coming season. Y
Rockets OUT: #23, Christian Wood, Eric Gordon IN: #3, Okoro, Kevin Love GS Warriors OUT: #14 Oubre (S&T) IN: #23, Eric Gordon Cavs OUT: #3, Okoro, Kevin Love IN: #14, Oubre, C.Wood, GSW gets EGO who is age-matched to Curry, and has shown against them that he's a capable playoff fighter. Everything that Davion Mitchell supposedly can get them (drives, defense, shooting), EGO can do better, and he's got more size. The cost is moving down from #14 to #23, where they can get another piece like Chris Duarte for example. GSW still gets to keep its two most valuable assets: Wiseman and #7 CAVS are in a tight spot. They obviously have second thoughts about Sexton and have been offering him around, but no one seems to be interested. If they get to keep Sexton and Rockets pick Mobley at #2, then they will be forced to pick another guard creating all kinds of disfunction with Sexton. This trade accelerates their timeline getting two more advanced but still young players in C. Wood and Oubre, for the money that they have to pay to K.Love. Look at it this way: Ideally CAVS would pick Mobley and build around a core of Sexton/Garland/Okoro/Mobley. However, the threat of Rockets picking Mobley puts this into a huge uncertainty where they would either have to trade down anyway or trade away Sexton, which as mentioned has proven to be difficult. With this trade you sub C.Wood for Mobley and Oubre for Okoro, which are very similar players, more advanced but maybe with lower ceiling. Note that CAVS don't lose a lottery pick in the trade, they just move from #3 to #14. Rockets get an exciting young core of Green/Mobley/Okoro to build around for the future. PS. Depending on how CAVS and GSW feel, the same trade would work with #7 instead #14 -- better deal for CAVS, worse deal for GSW, same for Rockets. I personally don't think EGO is worth the #7 --> #23 fall, but you never know...
You think the Warriors would trade a younger wing and better pick for a washed up EG and lower pick? I wish, man. I wish.
P.J. Tucker was supposedly washed-up too; Bucks would not be two wins away from 'ship w/o him. EGO on GSW will look even better than Tuck on Bucks. Oubre was a disaster for them last year.
Tucker was basically traded for an 8 spot pick swap. Tucker is also an iron man, glue guy. EG hasn’t been healthy in a couple of years and is on a way overvalued contract. Also, he has been on the trade block for years and no deal has been agreed to yet. It says a lot about his trade value.
Developing a man crush on Cam Reddish. I don't think the guy is a star or anything, but a nice complementary 3&D wing almost like Ariza. His story is not unlike Ariza's aswell.. explosive athlete with huge promise, but a slow start to their careers. How high do the Hawks value him? Could he be had with the 24th and change? Would they value a "win now" player like Eric Gordon over him? I like him in the starting lineup no matter who we pick at #2 KPJ Jalen Reddish Tate Wood or KPJ Reddish KMJ Wood Mobley
