NOOOOO ! Please don't let our most hated rivals land Kobe, specially for only Terry and Howard !

The Tmac + others for Kobe trade works on so many levels it's not even funny.

The Rockets have the best shot at getting Kobe. I'm not sure how the salaries mix up, but a combination of sf3, scola, bonzi and fillers to match salary would be a very attractive offer. That's three GOOD starting nba players, any of which has the potential to be an allstar for a few years to come. Throw in some picks and the Lakers have some good stuff to build with.

I would be very hesitant to do this though. I think we're set with what we have to be honest.

no way lakers would do that, NO WAY, anything that rox would do would have to include names such as yao or tmac. Yao isn't going anywhere for anything. Tmac's salary would work.

my goodness if the lakers take steve, scola and bonzi, and fillers, I'd be jumping up and down like i won the lottery

LOL. best player in the world for an over the hill PG, euro role player, and a so-so SG.

lakers are looking for a young guy with a high ceiling. potential superstar... kevin durant type.

Lakers would be getting ripped off so bad if this were true. Kobe is the best basketball player on the planet right now.

I'd give em Yao if they would take him, increase or team speed and killer instinct.

Seriously? I don't trust Mutombo and Butler with starting minutes at the C. Also we'll just add more guards. If anything trade 3-4 of our guards.. no F/C.

But that's not gonna happen anyways. We'd be losing a lot. I know Kobe is the best, but I honestly think if we can work together, this team can win it all.

You explained it yourself. "He might not be the best teammate and he might not have the best attitude." I agree that he is the best player INDIVIDUAL player in the world. But he won't play TEAM basketball. When the Lakers went up 3-1 in that playoff series against the Suns, I was scared! All of a sudden in that series; he was distributing, hitting the open teammate & shooting less. They had the Suns on the ropes. However the Suns came back to win the series and it was like Kobe said "Oh well, team basketball doesn't work." He hasn't played team ball since.

Also Kobe likes to play GM. He has gotten rid of Shaq & PJ. I personnally like Morey as our GM. I don't think GM Kobe (a star player person) and GM Morey (a #s per $s person) can coexist on the same team & I like what Morey has done so far.

We have a better TEAM without Kobe than with Kobe and will go farther!

    Good point.

Unfortuately, I suspect the Lakers are looking for an even larger collection of crappy players in exchange for arguably the biggest contributor in the league. Why would they settle for brooks, synder and alston when they might be able to pry head away too (assuming the rockets are willing to up the ante and add a 4th lousy player)?

You're heistancy is appropriaite. After all, why would we consider including two washed up has beens in a deal that only returns a best-at-his-position-in-the-league player?

    Actually Kobe will get traded.

    The Lakers really suck!

They have no choice but to trade him, just to get some young players with potential to rebuild their team. If they don't trade him, then they risk that Kobe will opt out of his contract after the 2008/2009 season. If they hold on to him until the last season, then they lose all bargaining power!

    He's GONE!

man, just think about how many new jerseys they are gonna sell out this year if kobe do end up here somehow, lol...

but after all, i think one of the deciding factors is kobe himself's mind, where he would like to go... and we all know he doesnt want to be in any bad teams anymore, otherwise why would he wanna leave the lakers

    New York Knicks senario:
    Kobe Bryant
    for
    Eddy Curry
    David Lee
    2008 First Round Draft Pick

Why the Knicks want to do this:
Getting Kobe Bryant will make them a title contender. he will form a great trio with Randolph and Marbury that can rival the trio of the Celtics.

Why the Lakers want to do this:
You cant ask for more in this situation. The Lakers get a boarder-line All-Star Center with perhaps the best offensive skills in the East. They also get a nightly double-double power forward.

Why Kobe wants to do this:
Unlike any other team, the New York Knicks still have All-Star players (Randolph, Marbury) and quality role players (Q-Rich, Crawford, Balkman) after the trade. If Lebron James can lead his Cavs to the finals, im certain that Kobe can do the same with the Knicks.
Because of the lack of titles in recent decades and legends in the NYK history, Kobe Bryant will be remembered as the greatest Knick of all time if he ever leads his team to an NBA title after a 30+ years drought. (in contrast, if he joins the Bulls, he will live in the shadow of Jordan forever)
