Beverley & Ariza value drops the longer we wait for a trade. T. Jones would have netted a first round pick once up on a TIME. DM used to turn over the bottom of the rotation annually but now it rots or retires with no return. MAYBE it is for the best. Keep the spots open for 10 day contracts and see if one can sticks. Then sign for low / long, team option contracts that keep us flexible for the next big catch. The cap is still on the rise for the league, but we will be able to offer more or maybe get 2 in the same off-season if we use the cap space wisely.
Forget trading away our depth for Rudy Gay, Lance Stephenson is available without losing any assets, is 4 years younger and has out played Gay in last 2 seasons.
How did he out play Gay when Gay avg 21 6 4 last year and 17 6 2 this year. Stephenson avg 8 3 2 this year and 8 4 4 last year shooting 17% from 3. Cmon man
Gay was a starter on a crappy Kings team, always 2nd or even 1st option when Boogie out. Gay as 2nd option for Houston would not make Rockets better since he is so inefficient. Stephenson was a key backup for very good Grizzlies team, he would have same role with Rockets without losing Ariza, Beverley, Dekker and or picks. Not only is Stephenson more efficient and more value signing but project his mpg to 36 and production is close, except for areas that MDA values most, 3p% and APG are better.
Can't lie Stephenson does sound some what intrigwhat. In right style of play dude is definitely a bargain.
Stop giving Dekker away in trades someone will take him --> give him time to develop and have a solid rotation player or starter for years to come. He is like a poor man's Shane Battier; that is not a bad thing. He is not trade filler like McDaniels is. If traded, get something of value back. Think of his value as at least a solid 1st round pick.
assuming they're keeping the brick bros and dmo, the only trade they can make is a small pone for a backup pg. they gotta decide what to do with brewer, kj and dekker. having all 3 is a waste. either keep brewer and trade the other 2, or vice versa. add in one our our picks or a future pick, and they can get a decent backup pg. with ariza, bev and dmo they can get a starting quality pg obviously. with harrel and beasley and ariza, they can do a s&t with dmo and throw in some filler for a starting pg.
cole is my #1 choice. he's good enough so that u can overplay him and not worry about him bringing the team down. he should'v been signed by now to a big contract. dunno what happened there. there's a bunch of them left but cole and jack are the best ones. hope we can get one of them.
Rudy Gay for Trevor Ariza and Corey Brewer. Its a square trade money wise and contract length. Gay is 29, Atiza and Brewer are about the same age. Gay being a 2nd or 3rd option is ideal. He's a legitimate 18-20 ppg scorer. Sonce they're trying to add guys who can score, he would fill the bill. Just a thought.
