I'm all for Dwight staying, and I'm all for Dwight leaving.

From a team standpoint, I think we'd progress further without him in the middle. We saw how far Harden got us without Howard last year and I believe that is mostly due to the fact Dwight wasn't there to take touches away from Harden (albeit, a minimal amount)

The cap space generated from letting him walk in the offseason will give us massive leverage to reel in some big name free agents such as Conley, Durant, Batum or Barnes. Not a fan of Whiteside. Overrated.

Woj says Gasol is being "aggressively" shopped because he will opt out this summer.
Chi gets Brewer (they need a SF) and TJones (he has some value) and we get Gasol to start at PF for the rest of the season and Snell as sneaky trash.

Howard for MKG, Jefferson, n picks.
Tank the rest of the season n get a nice pick.
Next year we start the season with Embiid, MKG, Saric, n a high pick. Get a good coach in the offseason.

If we can't get value for Dwight at least we can dump all our contracts longer than 1 year. If we get rid of all these guys we will have Harden on the books next year with Capela and 70 million in cap space to go after everyone!

I am okay with Dwight staying on the team and in our pursuit of Durant. selling Dwight on the chance to win and if all else fails attempting to do a sign and trade. But Lawson and jones have to go Ideally IMO for something like Gasol and Brooks. That's asking a lot, but if we get Gasol it takes a lot of leverage away from Dwight to stay and ask for too much money in which case Houston can just do the sign and trade and not really care. brooks provides some scoring punch and more floor knowledge in comparison to Beverley, he may come off the bench, but may finish many of our games.

 

Doubt anything major happens most teams are going to have a ton in cap space this year. Sellers are probably not being offered good assets. Its a buyers market. Lots of teams want to place themselves in the Durant sweepstakes.
