Take this sentence of yours: "He strikes me as someone who would do something very stupid to cost you a big game in the playoffs." Remove the words "strikes me as someone who". Now you're cookin'. Yeah, Jarrett Jack's injury already cost us a way of shipping out Lawson, but this mess in Brooklyn makes me wonder what deals might get done there now and when. The Suns and the 76ers and the Pelicans are potential targets, of course; but Morey's deals often come out of left field.
It is a mystery. Without knowing who is in "power"...the russian shadow GM is still in power but we don't know which choice so far had been his or King's. And without knowing we can't evaluate the level of competence in that FO. What I find the most probable is that the leaks will stop. Not just cyber's, ALL the leaks to woj etc. Because it was Billy King who was opening his mouth. As was Dumars in Detroit and so now at the least we will begin to hear more songs from New Orleans. Maybe with Dumars we will have a new buyer for Dwight though. (pure speculation).
I understand Whiteside can be a hot head, but let's not act like Howard doesn't get stupid fouls and It's all the time too, its not a positive in any way but it hasn't really cost us games. Whiteside's numbers are nuts. He has a higher rebounding percentage then Howard, over double the block % of Howard, and a lower turnover % Dude is only 26, has much less milage then Howard. I'd definitely be on board with adding him to the team with Harden.
All good points - I think another important thing is that he's not trying to force feed a post game. He understands his role as a post defender and getting after the boards. Can't say that's always true about Howard trying to work that hook shot he doesn't have.
so zach lowe reports that the Raptors want to trade a pick for a win now player and that As I said again and again the Raptors are an excellent trading partner with us for one of their first like the Clips 2017 first for Jones.
You can bet the Raptors would prefer to get their hands on Donatas Motiejunas, and DMo would love to be there to play alongside his countryman Valanciunas and his idol Scola. You can bet I'd want a lot more than a semi-worthless Clippers first rounder, though (although Morey tends to draft better late in the first than near the lottery....COUGH! Kawhi! COUGH!) Terrence Jones for that first rounder? Hell to the yes.
the number of sellers are very few. First of all Toronto must decide to go all in. Secondly with such a quiet and reluctant seller market we have to see what option they have at their biggest hole the pf position. They have three good assets and a couple of meh young prospects to trade to fill that hole. Markief = negative value. Will Masai take the gamble? Frye = horrible defence. Next to Valanciunas not a fit. Anderson = same as above. Gallinari =very high asking price. Quite possible all three of their firsts will be needed. Faried= can be had for likely the NY pick. Young : ??? who makes the decisions in Brooklyn and are they even sane? Or they think they can contend by next year by luring a fa? It looks from what the journalists have said not to be realistic. The Lakers have already made sure to leak that they will offer Derozan the max so a good rfa that can be matched after the Derozan situation is settled isn't that much of a risk for Toronto. So a Jones to Toronto deal is a very good possibillity in my opinion.
Still amazing that the Bucks gave up a 1st rounder to the Raptors for FA to be, Greivis Vasquez. The Raptors have a pick to burn!
You forgot to mention all the dumbass goaltends. I know the game moves fast but how is it that Howard has such a gift for trying to block the ball when it is clearly on its downward arc? Dude must be hard-up to get stats for that new contract. Whiteside's a stud, true. (Rather surly and full of himself, but wtf.) Will he be worth the grotesque amount of money teams will offer? Fixed.
Good point on Howard's goal tending, I'm about as tired of that as I'm am hearing bull covering for him " its a good intimidation factor so I'm okay with it " and when he goal tends put backs " in fiba that would be a legal play ". As for Whiteside's contact, I would have to say at his age and with his numbers that he is worth the 20 mill contract. I know some may not agree with that but remember, Howard at 30 with his injury issues will be getting around 20 mill too, and I'd rather give it to the younger guy who doesn't have a bad back and is in Hardens age group extending our championship window and chance for a ring.
To Houston Kenneth Faried Luis Scola or James Johnson To Toronto Terrence Jones To Denver Corey Brewer Donantas Motiejunas Pick Considerations from Toronto Rockets dump a bad contract and a future bad contract for one of the best defensive rebounders in the game, which is a huge weakness for us. Beverley / Lawson / Terry Harden / Thornton Ariza / McDaniels Faried / Scola Howard / Capella
