    ^^

Edit: Lakers owe the Sixers a top 1-3 protected this year OR a non-protected pick next season

LOL. I still got it wrong. Sixers receive a top 1-3 protected pick in 2015 or 2016 or an unprotected pick in 2017 from the Lakers. Geeze.

Lou is also a chucker and is perfectly fine with the 6th man role so he's perfect for us off the bench.

Lou is a deadly scorer off the bench who can get free throws effortlessly. Problem is he is on a bargain contract, especially with the cap blowing up. Would the Lakers really want to move him?

Also I think he'd be good next to Harden for about 12 minutes.

The Lakers have a big incentive to be tank this season and next season if they get passed up by major free agents. He is on a great contact so that's why I think we would have to give up Harrell and Dekker and take back some unwanted players/contracts.

Another trade to retool on top of the Lou Williams trade:

Rockets get: Thaddeous Young and filler
Nets get: Brewer, KJ McDaniels, Tjones, and Denver's 2nd rounder (from Lawson trade)

    Why it happens:

Net's are in no man's land where they have no draft picks and have terrible cap situation for half a season. They trade a veteran for a player in McDaniel's with potential and a good contact. Nets get another vet in Brewer (although having a career worst year) who has been a decent glue for many teams.

Rocket's need more defense and length at the 3 and could use some versatility. Young is a tweener who isn't a great shooter career wise but could provide some speed, rebounding, and defense. He's on a decent contact but is past his peak.

Along with the Lou Williams trade from earlier, here's our lineup:

    Bev/Lou Williams/Terry
    Harden/Thornton
    Ariza/Thad Young
    DMo/Young/Capela
    Howard/Capela

We got more athleticism, better rebounding, more offense, and hopefully better defense. We got flexibility in keeping Howard and signing DMo with the rising cap.

Thad Young - a slightly more athletic Terrence Jones on a bloated long-term contract.

And he can actually play the 3/4 and rebound. I disagree his contract is bloated as we're essentially trading McDaniels and Brewer's contract for his. The only negative is his contract has a player option which could definitely be a deal killer for Morey.

I think he makes us more versatile, mostly fits with how we want to play, and adds more veteran play to our wing and front court.

Thad Young is a stretch 4 who can't shoot....

I think we will be looking to clear the decks in trade talks, not bring in stiffs on long term deals.

TJ and KJ for J.Hill and S.Hill

Jordan Hill would be a nice fit at this point in his career, expiring, really good rebounder, effecient finisher around the basket, athletic, good size and has added a mid range jumper

Pacers have Mahimmi, and open up more minuted for Turner as his backup. Get to try out TJ and see if he can take the PF position, if things don't workout or and they let him go in the off season they have KJ as an asset under contract.

Best defense on Harden played by.....

    Time.

We all know the dribbling down possessions is a problem but it is in his head now as well. He used to be able to do that and create a shot and or win the game. Ever since game 2 of the Warriors season (Harden fumbles ball away in semi-transition at the end) it is just getting worse.

Teams don't even bring the second defender to trap him as time ticks away now. They just let time double team him. The George Hill defended possession at the end of last night's game is a perfect example. Harden was getting past Hill when he was going into his move early. He is an especially turnover prone player, he is becoming especially unreliable holding the ball at the end of games. They must get into some sort of set.

Harden even got lucky at the end when the defense was bad as he used Howard to create an open three point shot. It was close but his form and etc seemed ugly and unsteady.

James Harden must stop letting time double team him.

I think it has to do with him being a little selfish. But, if he had someone to throw the ball to to score off the dribble, but also be as effective without the ball, Harden would be more efficient.

I think OJ Mayo would be perfect as next to Harden/Bev. Good spot up shooter, can score off the dribble, and can move through screens to get open for jumpers.

I don't like the idea of bringing in headcases to this team. But it worked with Smith... and I hope [expect] it to work if/when we get Markieff

I was just thinking about how great of a fit Batum would be. He's basically Parsons with Ariza's defense, he can create for his self, he rebounds, he defends, he's a good 3pt shooter, has good size, gets steals and most importantly passes well averaging around 5 apg for the last 4 seasons I think. He's also just turned 27.

Really really good fit next to Harden, same age group. I'd look at offering him a big contract this off season, hes a unrestricted free agent.

The free agent list looks weak at first glance outside of Durant, but there is actually some really good players that will be available. Whiteside, Horford, Conley, Batum, Anderson, Rondo, DeRozan.

Then there is a large pool of players that would be great fits as bench and role players.

We have the flexibility to clear 2 max spots, even 3 if Morey really strips the team(which id be fine with).

The only players not expiring are

    Harden
    Ariza
    Brewer
    Beverley
    KJ
    Capela
    Harrell
    Dekker

I also see Brewer and KJ as good as gone if we need to open up cap space, so we could be easily looking at 60 million in cap space to target big players like (Whiteside, Howard, Horford, Conley, Batum, Anderson, DeRozan and Rondo) with a roster of Beverley, Harden, Ariza, Harrell, Capela and Dekker.

Imagine if we can nab a mix of 2 or 3 of those players... Add a new quality coach and a respectable offensive and defensive system.

A realistic approach (obviously gonna swing for the fences but we need to shop our options) would be signing Nicolas Batum and bringing in Mike Conley after we let Lawson walk. Both Conley and Batum are great shooters who can thrive off ball with their aggressive playing style and outstanding defensive capabilities. Lawson is obviously aggressive, but his size and defense can be a detriment.

    Conley/Beverley
    Harden/Thornton
    Batum/Ariza/Putney
    Dmo/Harrell/ArizaorBatum/Dekker
Capela/ (fill in Jordan Hill/Meyers Leonard(would fit great here!)/Boban Marjonavich etc)

Or if we want a star center, we'd probably have to let DMo walk (depending on morey magic) if we were to go ahead and sign Conley and Batum

    Conley/Bev
    Harden/Thornton
    Batum/Ariza/Putney
Harrell/Dekker (here we go with the PF weakness again)
Whiteside(UFA. Gonna get a big pay day) or Drummond(RFA. Highly unlikely)

    TL;DR... Batum+Conley would be nice

Thad Young is a tweener who can't shoot and can guard multiple positions, defend, and rebound is probably a more apt description in my opinion. However, I get your point about the player and the Rocket's contact situation.

I think a player like Lou Williams (~7-8 mil per season) is an undervalued player given his production, but Thad Young may not be given his contact.

you people are overhyping Lou Williams cause he had a 44 point game. The dude is an overrated chucker. Sure, he'd be nice, but we don't need more chuckers.

    No more chuckers please

I don't think so as I could care less about his 44 pt game. He's on a great contract, he's put up on numbers on good teams (ATL and Toronoto), he can shoot, he can create, and he's played the 6th man role quite a bit. I think he'd fit right in as a 6th man, playing off the ball with Harden and running the bench unit when Harden isn't on the floor.

I agree somewhat but I don't really like him as much as some people do. Don't know why. probably cause my psyche made me permanently upset that he won the 6th man award over IT
