I'd agree completely if they still had Varajeo, but they don't and desperately need another big and have 0 other assets. They gave James Jones huge minutes as a (essentially) PF the other night. Unless they bank solely on buyouts, they have no shot of a trade without using Haywood.
Yep...tried to trade up for him in the draft. He'd be a very nice piece for us. Have you ever watched him play? Highlights? The kid is very solid, built like a truck, but still has very good mobility and nimble feet. He could develop into an above average center...certainly a good backup center behind Dwight or DMO.
Don't think Morey would trade anything substantial for him right now. Kanter is all offensive. Doesn't defend. And he doesn't blend well into a team concept. We need defense in the middle behind Dwight. Need one more stud defender to go with DMo and Smith. Kanter isn't it. And that's coming from me, I like Kanter's offensive game very much, see tremendous potential for him to be a great offensive center. But he's almost idential to Big Al in that regard. All one-sided on the offensive end right now.
A homeless man big Al with worse passing and defence. Who also thinks he's the most dominant center of his generation. smh
To Houston Goran Dragic Miles Plumlee Kevin Martin Taj Gibson To Phoenix Donatas Motiejunas Kostas Papanikolau To Minnesota Terrence Jones Alexy Schved To Chicago Jason Terry NO Pelicans #1 pick New Lineup: Dragic / Beverley / Canaan Harden / Martin Ariza / Brewer Gibson / Smith / Dorsey Howard / Plumlee / Capella
best case scenario bench pf with ok offence and no defence. Worst case- most likely -case out of the league. He has been in the doghouse for a couple of years and his game has regressed from his rookie season. Will fetch a second.
Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine 13m13 minutes ago Word is Suns more apt to try to move IThomas before trade deadline, to restore last season's roster balance, rather than surrender GDragic
They wouldn't have to trade much...maybe the Knicks pick plus someone to match salaries(Shved and filler). He's all offense, but he's miles ahead of anyone we have at center(DMO isn't included). With Bev/Dragic, Smith, Ariza, Harden...Kanter would have plenty of plus defensive guys in the lineup to help...might even inspire him to play harder on that end. The guy has all of the physical tools he would need to be a good defender...he just needs a little incentive and polishing. If we can get him cheap, I'd rate it an A+....as a secondary move to getting a better PG, this would be a steal. Assuming that both trades hapoen, we'd have to be one of the two favorites to win it all(even without Dwight)....which says a lot. Morey would have to win GM of the year, or whatever the Hell it's called....he might anyways.
Not a bad idea to get him on the Rockets as a last resort, if we don't have to give up too much to the Suns.
It would certainly help the Rox in terms of talent....I think that it would be way too much turnover this late in the year. That's 5 out and 4 in....McHale might lose his mind.
Yeah it does, you are wasting Kevin Martin behind Harden he is going to play what 15 minutes a game? Waste of his talents..... Gibson is not better than Smith - you are wasting one of them. Dragic is better, but you get weaker at PF..... Don't rob Peter to pay Paul. If you are going to trade a guy like DMo, make sure you are covered BEYOND this year - Smith is likely gone, and Gibson is severely overated...he is not even as good as DMo is now. Your trade had both of our potential good PFs out for two old guys who are in serious decline....not a good trade. DD
You may wanna tone down the whole "Gibson isn't good....overrated..."...etc. He's a very good 4, with a great motor and skilled post moves. DMo has played well this year, but Gibson has been playing at a high level for years. You're 100% right about wasting Martin's talents behind Harden...he'd never play. Too small to play the 3, too slow for the 1.
