After this season Lin and Asik only have a year left on their contracts. Then they will be unrestricted free agents and there's no guarantee they would stay in Boston. And the Rockets draft pics aren't great. Boston won't do it .. Keep hope alive tho...
Rondo will be unrestricted at the same time. Boston has the same problem with him. And yes, players will stay for the money. If Lin and Asik were made the foundation of that team there is no reason to believe that they would fly the coop any more than there is reason that Rondo would fly the coop. If Boston isn't much improved in a year...Rondo is the most likely guy to leave, much more likely to leave than Asik/Lin.
That would just be trading players putting themselves in the same situation... At least Rondo is a superstar as you stated so that would ba a lateral if not backwards move...
He may not be the ideal fit but he's a superstar nonetheless and as such his trade value will maintain or improve over the next couple seasons. Trading for Rondo puts us in a position to possibly make the next move. A Rondo trade is not and "all-in" move that leaves us with no flexibility. On the contrary it would increase our options going forward.
I think that's a borderline playoff team, even in the East. One of those low seeds. I think it's clearly less talented than the Hawks, for example. Anyway, if I was so desperate for a center, Gortat was just available and didn't cost a star. It would make little sense to pass on that and then trade Rondo in order to supposedly win. Unless they thought that Rondo wouldn't get back to previous all star level.
Here we go again with the word "superstar" being thrown around relentlessly. At this rate the word loses meaning and there are about 20 superstars in the league LOL. Rondo has his hands full being a top 5 PG and an all star let alone a superstar SMH Once again, there are only a handful of superstars at any one point in the league.
I've never seen a guy that has everything you are looking for in a PG, but just doesn't fit (Rondo). He will get you assists (10-12apg), low turnovers, really good in setting players up in half court offense, great D and hustle; everything we lack right now. Now to why he doesn't fit. The obvious is he needs the ball in his hands which will not work well with Harden. Then his serious attitude which will not mesh with Howard or this whole team for that matter. Also, lets not overlook or forget what we have heard about his demeanor and attitude which coaches and teammates did not like. Bad fit even if he is considered a superstar. Chemistry is a big part of winning...
How would people here feel about Lin + Asik for Gasol ? I know Morey used to be really high on Gasol but I don't know what's the case right now.
That would be for a one year playoff run this year because he's a FA this summer. Which can make us players in the free agency once again when he leaves this summer. Because we have plenty of cap space & asik/Lin contracts will be gone I'm 50/50 on it
No he is underrated by this forum. Dude is a walking triple double. I would trade Lin/Asik and a 1rd pick to get Rondo.
http://sircharlesincharge.com/2013/11/27/nba-trade-rumors-rockets-trade-asik-portland/ Houston gets: Taj Gibson, Kirk Hinrich Portland gets: Omer Asik Bulls receive: Terrence Jones, Aaron Brooks
So we give up, basically, Omer and Tjones (Aaron and Kirk are a wash, although Kirk plays better D) and get Taj Gibson? Nah. We'll have to see if Tjones can keep up the solid play; if he does, it's a great problem to have, but it does muddy the waters on any Asik trade. We'll see if Millsap (a Houston trade target) eats his lunch tonight. Granted, Millsap is a veteran, Tjones is a new starter, but...let's see.
I agree. Thought posting a bulls perspective idea might be interesting. If it didnt include Jones going out and amounted to Asik for Gibson, that I could see with some sweetener.
I dont understand why we would give Portland Asik in the trade, when they litterally are not trading any one..
