No. However well he may be playing, Deron Williams when in shape (like during the 2nd half of last season) is much better. Also, where does Asik fit in? It makes no sense, since he wants to start and the Nets have a better center.
The more I think about it, the more I like this: Omer Asik, 2014 2nd to Denver Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mosgov to Houston Denver does it because Shaw likes smart defensive players, and McGee, while talented, is not one, and they're lacking on that end overall. Also, he looks to be out for some time. They have a surplus of wings, especially when Gallinari returns. Also, the talented Fournier gets a chance to get a more featured role. We do it because Chandler would A) improve our perimeter defense B) would allow Harden/Parsons to play less (they're playing a ton right now) C) make us more versatile lineup-wise (he's proven himself to be capable of playing/defending the 2-3-4) D) give us another guy who can run the floor/finish other than Parsons and E) improve our bench. Mosgov has proven himself to be serviceable at both ends, with good size and activity level. He'd give us a solid 10-15 mpg while Dwight rests. I feel like our team would have a stronger identity (uptempo ball with improved D) with a more defined pecking order after this deal. Our rotation would be: Dwight (34-36 mpg) T.Jones (26-30 mpg) Parsons (36-38 mpg) Harden (36-38 mph) Beverley (28-32 mpg) - Lin (30-34 mpg) Chandler (26-28 mpg) Mosgov (10-14 mpg) Motiejunas/Garcia/Smith (situational)
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ndgg4yr Do this trade and add a lottery pick (2014) from Toronto to Houston (similar to before) and one from Toronto to Philadelphia (lottery protected 2016) Don't burn me just yet...Go through with this trade (plenty of talent, lottery pick in 2014 plus a spread 5 in Hawes who could possibly play some 4 next to Howard) Next year's assets: 1) Expiring Rudy Gay contract 2) Possible SnT of Chandler Parsons 3) 2014 Lottery Pick (Toronto's) 4) Our own 2014 draft pick Flip all of that for a superstar in the likes of ..........Durant???
In case link does not work: Gay and Hawes to Houston Asik, Lin, Motiejunas to Toronto Lowry and Jones to Philly
JUST SAY NO to Rudy Gay! That guy is an offense-wrecking cancer, and he wouldn't improve our defense. And giving up Lin to get him? LOL no. Parsons and Lin are both already better players. I mean that.
How about this 3 way trade? Houston Incoming Bargs, Zeller, 2014 CHA 1st Rd Pick Houston Outgoing Omer Asik, Jeremy Lin, Ronnie Brewer, Donatas Montiejunas, Greg Smith NY Incoming Asik, Lin, Greg Smith, Al Jefferson, MKG, 2014 CHAR 2nd Rd Pick NY Outgoing Melo, Bargs Charlotte Incoming Carmelo Anthony, Donatas Montiejunas Charlotte Outgoing Al Jefferson, MKG, Zeller, 1st Rd Pick, 2nd Rd Pick
That's way too ambitious! It would be the biggest blockbuster in years. So many quality players and good prospects changing teams. But Carmelo will stay in NY. Teams don't just trade superstars on a whim. And it wouldn't make much sense for Charlotte to have a roster of Carmelo Anthony, Kemba Walker, Gerald Henderson and a bunch of nothing. That team would struggle to make the playoffs. And Melo would leave in a year.
I wouldn't do it for the Rockets, tbh. 76ers might do it, I don't know, it depends entirely on how much they like Jones. I probably wouldn't if I were them. Just character concerns. Lowry likes to pout when he's not the only legit point guard on the team, and Jones likes to stomp on homeless people. Character concerns is not something I'd want to deal with on a young rebuilding team. I think they could do better in a Hawes trade. The Raptors would do it. Then they'd probably turn around and flip Asik to the Thunder for Kendrick Perkins and some picks.
He's an expiring, not to mention mentor them both and provide quality minutes of the bench in a 3 guard rotation.

Lakers and Rocket trade? Lakers trade: J. Hill S. Blake 1st round Draft pick Rockets trade: O. Asik A. Brooks Any thoughts?
Only if they include their first round pick this year. With Asik they should be an 8th seed so their pick should fall mid first.
They don't have a pick this year, unless it falls within top 12. But overall the Blazers seems like one of the more realistic scenarios. Lopez + future pick, or Lopez + McCollum. I think the Rockets should focus on stretch 4s as the main priority, though. Picks are nice but this team should be thinking about what gives them the best chance to win the title this year.
