How would everyone feel about this- Lets say that Morey has trouble this year really finding a package for Asik back in trade that helps or upgrades the team in any way shape or form. How would you feel about Morey entertaining a trade such as this in the realm of the OKC/Harden package that OKC got back from Houston where Houston is a contender but they still go for future assets instead of high dollar talent- http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=phuk9ul Keep in mind the key to this type of trade would be the Sixers giving the Rockets one of their 2014 first round picks.... probably the one owed to them by the Pelicans from the Holiday trade, and they get a solid short term contributor in Amir Johnson who can fill in Asik's backup role as a 4/5 off the bench much like Kevin Martin did for OKC last year. Rockets out- Asik Rockets In- Amir Johnson(6.5 guaranteed in 2013/ 7 mil UN-GUARANTEED in 2014/15), and Pelicans 2014 first round pick (could fall anywhere from 5 to 10 based on early projections & is top 5 protected) Sixers Out- Pelicans 2014 first round pick Sixers In- Terrence Ross, Aaron Gray Toronto Out- Amir Johnson, Aaron Gray, Terrence Ross Toronto In- Omer Asik ................................................................................................. Whats in it for the Sixers- The Sixers expedite the rebuilding process quicker by bringing in one of the more high-upside players taken from last years draft. The Sixers are already going to have their own most likely better first round pick in 2014 and multiple second round picks. Maybe Hinkie feels that Terrence Ross is a better gamble than what they can get in the 5 to 15 range with the Pelican's pick, and he's probably right. For Hinkie, the goal is to get as much young talent as possible on this Sixers team... I think Ross is a players with the upside for Hinkie to sincerely consider this deal. ....................................................................................................... Whats in it for Toronto- Ross is never going to maximize his full potential playing behind the locked up Rudy Gay, DeRozen, and Fields. There just isn't enough shots to go around. However, recieving Asik back and being able to move Valanciunas to the starting PF spot makes sense to immediately make themselves one of the biggest and better defensive starting units in the league overnight. Toronto has their 2014 first round pick to add prospects again in the future if needed. Right now, you'd have to assume their focus is to make the playoffs this year, and make the Rudy Gay/DeRozen experiment work. Bringing in Asik makes a ton of sense IMO even at the cost of a high upside prospect like Ross. Also, saves them 3.5 mil this year in salary. .................................................................................................... For Houston, you take a small step back this year with the hope that in the future you will be able to bring in a great rookie prospect in the loaded 2014 draft, or use that asset in the future next Summer to upgrade the team in a superstar trade. Much like Lowry, Morey might think the Pelican's pick has higher value on the trade market than Asik. And if they are in the pursuit of a third star, it might make more sense to trade Asik for a great asset like this than to move Asik for a negative trade asset like Ryan Anderson. Just a thought.... what are your thoughts of moving Asik in the short term in a trade such as this like OKC did with Harden last year????
We need a point guard who can score and Nelson's a CLEAR upgrade over Lin. There's no way you can spin it. Afflalo can hoop and Big Baby can be our new Chuck Hayes. We'd be stupid not to take this.
Don't even trade Lin...... The last thing we need is Linsanity 2.0 I actually see Lin improving. His jumper seems fixed based on videos and he actually has a big man that doesn't have butter fingers. Last season he wasn't even that bad..... 13 pts and 6 ast...... Give the man time he is still young
Cut Casspi..he shoot a lot of bricks... Davis knows his roles.. he never goes outside his realm.. Big Bab for PF support.. I'd feel comfortable with that..
He would be a much better back court partner for Harden in the 4th. He can defend any guards and small forwards.
Agree on Afflalo but, thats it. However, Brewer and Garcia will be reliable defense options and they are dirt cheap.
No way in hell is a disciple of Morey going to give up a likely lottery pick for Terrence Ross. Ross was the eight pick in a very weak draft and some pundits thought that it was a minor reach. He has not shown anything to suggest that his value has increased. I would prognosticate that Ross would be picked in the twenties if he was in this year's draft. Plus the Sixers do not want any players that will increase their odds of winning more games this year, they are leading the tank for Wiggins charge.
Lol. Nelson is a CLEAR upgrade because why? Lin is taller, faster, bigger, a better defender, scorer, penetrator, 3 pt shooter, and is not 31 years old with the same contract.
I wouldn't do this even if Orlando threw in Oladipo and their 2014 lotto ticket. That's how bad this proposal is.
