I get what you're saying, we do need to make changes to the roster to succeed, but making a deal for the sake of making a deal is how teams get ****ed over. Sometimes it's better to do nothing than make a really bad deal. 0>-3,
The Suns GM knows Dragic isn't a longterm solution for their franchise rebuild. They want to deal him before next season when he'll only be a 1 year rental where teams will offer less.
I see your point but I wouldn't give up Goran if I were in their shoes. They need cap space and a good presentation to lure a star, they already have the perfect role players. Last night I watched the game they had against Minnesota and if it weren't for Goran, they would have lost that game. They are a star away from being really really good.
JR + Shumpert for Lin + DMO. No Felton, please. If the smaller line-up works out (Parsons, Hardens, Shumpert, Bev, TJ or DH) with JR at 6th man. Rockets can trade Asik for a pick + a less backup center. Then Rockets will be ready this summer for the third star. Would Knicks go for this?
No, the Luol Deng trade shows Chicago does not want to take on more salary on their roster... If the Bulls wanted to shed more salary by trading Taj Gibson, they would want an expiring contract (and a draft pick) in return. If the Rockets wanted Gibson, they could send Asik+Lin to a third team like the Bobcats or Celtics and take back an expiring contract also.
what do you guys think about going after Thabo? always been an elite defender and can knock down the open 3 at a high clip, although he is down this year. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mre5om2 Hou out: asik/brewer Hou in: thabo/biedrins/utah 2nd Hou outlook: Houston gets a perfect 3D type player and i mean elite wing defender who can knock down the (open) 3 very consistently. They gain 13mill in expiring contracts and bird rights in case they want to re-sign thabo(i would hope they would). They also gain a very early 2nd rd draft pick and we all know how much morey loves those early 2nds. The biggest con would obviously have to be dealing asik to a contending team in the west, but i think it is worth it. OKC out: thabo/perkins/2014 1st/dallas 1st OKC in: asik/brewer OKC outlook: While they lose two draft picks it is certainly worth it. They finally rid themselves of perkins contract. They cut 3 mill from salary along with acquiring brewers 1.2mill expiring. They get the defensive beast center they hoped perkins would be but wasnt. They do lose thabo but they should manage. maybe brewer can find minutes in that system, even if not lamb has been playing more often and getting better. The biggest con is losing 2 1st rd picks, but the tradeoff is most definately worth it. Utah out: biedrins/2014 2nd Utah in: Perkins/okc 1st/dallas 1st Utah outlook: Utah is tanking. They already have their own 2014 1st along with GSW 1st. They are in a perfect situation to swallow perks contract getting paid handsomely for it with 2 picks. The biggest con is tradng biedrins 9 mill expiring and the early 2nd, which is why i decided utah would likely want/get 2 1sts instead of just one. taking on a bad contract=1st pick. trading a large expiring and early 2nd=another 1st pick. They would have 3 picks in this loaded draft and another future pick whenever dallas meets the restrictions. i do feel it is pretty fair for all involved and would help each team at thier current state of operations. Thoughts?
OKC would never give us a defender to defend Durant, vice versa the Rockets would never give OKC a legit center and cap flexibility by helping them dump Perk
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mqe4s2k Cleveland's new starting 5: Asik Thompson Deng Martin Irving That starting 5 should get them at least the 8th seed in the East. Martin and Deng gives Irving enough shooters to keep defenses honest. Losing Varejao is bad but getting Asik as his replacement would be a boon considering their centers are collectively bad. Maybe DMo pans out for them as a stretch 4. Minnesota's new starting 5: Pekovic Varejao Parsons Waiters Rubio Not exactly a contending starting 5 but at least they're getting .75 cents on the dollar for Love before he decides to bolt as an unrestricted free agent and lose him for nothing. Parsons is still on his ridiculously affordable contract, Waiters is still salvageable as an NBA shooting guard, and Varejao brings the defense that Love didn't.
sure they would... he is a free agent this off-season anyways. they are trading a durant stopper for dwight stopper. they also shed perks for flexibility. its a double win for OKC. because even those they lose thabo (harden stopper) durant can be the stopper on the wing or they can bring in somebody else. they cant just bring in an elite defensive center. for the rockets i know morey would be hesitant. he does not want to deal asik to the western conference let alone the thunder, but if you weigh the pros and cons it is worth it. we get much better and add flexibility and an asset for our third star pursuit. at the end of the day, teams make moves to benefit THIER team best. They dont make decisions based on how the other team is going to look afterwards. Its all about improving your roster, not preventing another teams roster.

Ugh, why would Memphis do that. If it was Tayshaun Prince and Courtney Lee instead of Conley / Davis, I'm still not sure they'd do it.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine/?tradeId=mub92vb This makes too much sense for Houston. Send out 4 players who have contributed nothing this season: Omer Asik, Donatas Motiejunas, Greg Smith, and Robert Covington. Bring in an upgrade at the 4 (Ersan Ilyasova), a veteran wing (Caron Butler), and a sharp shooter (Anthony Morrow). New Orleans would also be sending out a 1st round pick to Milwaukee in this deal. They have long coveted Omer Asik so they can have a flexible C/PF rotation of Omer Asik, Anthony Davis, and Ryan Anderson. They are also on a tight budget and would love to get out of Eric Gordon's contract. Greg Smith and Gary Neal solidify their bench. They do not want to tank this year because they know they won't be one of the 5 worst teams. Milwaukee would be receiving a protected 1st round pick from New Orleans, Eric Gordon, Donatas Motiejunas, and Robert Covington for Ersan Ilyasova, Gary Neal (locker room problems), and Caron Butler. Draft considerations from Houston as well. An alternate version of this trade could see the Bucks keeping Neal, the Rockets keeping Covington, and Butler going to New Orleans instead of Houston. I could see that happening if the Rockets trade for Dunleavy separately and do not want Butler.
Maybe Memphis is not a good destination for EGO. How about Utah? Pelicans get Alec Burks (since Jrue Holiday is out with a stress fracture). We get an expiring for Asik plus a draft pick from the Pelicans...
Since I think K-Love wants out of Minnesota and I don't want him going to the Lakers how about: Houston: K-Love and JJ Barea Minn: Asik and Lin
As much as I love Jeremy Lin, and believe that he has been playing better than D-Will this season and has a much brighter future...this deal makes sense...only if Bynum can break out of his brain fart funk that he's had since being traded from the Lakers. High risk, high reward...D-Will's ankles & Bynum's knees and brain injury are the risk, but a Championship could be the reward if D-Will can get back to his pre-Nets form and Bynum remembers that he was once considered among the top 3 centers in the League.
