A three way trade that could be a win-win for each team involved... It seems LMA (LaMarcus Aldridge) wants out of Portland, Kevin Love isn't happy in the freezing cold hell hole of mediocrity that is Minnesota, and if the reports of Asik being disgruntled are true, ( I believe that story is just media hype...IMO) then a 3 way that sends: To Portland: Omer Asik Terence Jones Aaron Brooks & a future protected pick (from Rockets) To Minnesota: LaMarcus Aldridge Rights to Todorovic (& maybe even Llull's rights too?) 2nd Rounder from Rockets Rockets receive: Kevin Love Chris Johnson Meyers Leonard All 3 players who are reportedly looking to play elsewhere, and in the case of Asik, start & play a big role on their team, get their wish. Asik gets to start in Portland & anchor the D there, and I've heard that T.Jones apparently has a connection with some of the locals there already. Aaron Brooks can go back to Oregon and back up a future star in Lilliard, sometimes going small ball playing together. Rick Adelman replaces an All-Star with an All-Star who fits his system perfectly. The Rockets get their stretch 4 in Love, who is also an excellent rebounder esp on the offensive end. Chris Johnson has shown glimpses of being a defensive pest, who can play above the rim on offence. & if we could get Meyers Leonard, he could be our back up big guy who could develop into a stretch big, and has a big upside as a shot blocker and someone who can finish above the rim on the fast break. Imagine a starting lineup of Houston Rockets ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jeremy Lin James Harden Chandler Parsons Kevin Love Dwight Howard Bench ~~~~ Patrick Beverley / Isaiah Canaan Francisco Garcia / Reggie Williams Omri Casspi / Rob Covington Donatas Motiejunas / Chris Johnson Greg Smith / Meyers Leonard I could really see Aaron Brooks going back to Oregon via a trade to help us get Meyers Leonard, but Brooks as a 3rd guard is a pretty good option to have. Canaan looks good, but might need some time in the D-League before producing consistently for the Rockets. While I'm at it... I wouldn't mind also getting Dorrell Wright for Omri & Reggie. He defends, is an athletic swing man & can hit the 3. But who knows, maybe Reggie & Omri both have breakout career years this season taking wide open looks when teams double Dwight or Harden. I'm Very excited about this season. Super excited!!! If the last bit of my sentence didn't make sense, forgive me. I just had an ankle reconstruction and the nurses gave me some morphine & OxyContin for the pain. I feel like John Travolta in Pulp Fiction right now... Whoop! Whoop! Whoop! Better stop now, starting to ramble on & on & on & on & on... What y'all think?
Since the Knicks have 2 ball hog's- one being Melo, and the other being JR Smith, I'm assuming your talking about Melo since he's the only one that would be considered a "big"... anyone on any contending team.... and there is no way in hell the Knicks are trading Melo for anyone not named Lebron. If your relying on JR Smith to be big at anything other than being an irrational confidence bench player, you're asking for trouble. smh... Random trade is Random though.... I'll give you that much.
First, how is your precious daughter? Second, I was going to wait until the schedule was published tomorrow, but I think a trade along these lines will happen... and I will tell you when during the season tomorrow. Third, I think the 3rd team will be Boston (replacing Portland).
My beautiful daughter is doing well. She has 7 radiation treatments left to go & then we wait until September to do the next MRI & CT scans to hopefully get great results. I'm in hospital myself at the moment after getting an ankle reconstruction! Life isn't always easy, but it is a beautiful journey...even through various trials & tribulations. Here is my daughter celebrating 0 more days of Chemotherapy! In saying that, my daughter is wrapt that we have Dwight Howard to go along with Lin, Harden & Parsons.
Thaddeus Young is a Morey-esque geek's wet dream. Great advanced stats. Can run, rebound, defend, and score at a decent clip without demanding the ball too much (5% less usage than Ryan Anderson just for a frame of reference). <script type="text/javascript" src="http://widgets.sports-reference.com/wg.fcgi?css=1&site=bbr&url=%2Fplayers%2Fy%2Fyoungth01.html&div=div_advanced"></script> I think he'd be worthy of trading Asik to upgrade at PF, and there's a pretty realistic way of doing it. One that I actually see Morey doing in the real world. Boston In: Omer Asik Houston In: Thaddeus Young Philadelphia In: Kris Humphries ($12m expiring contract), BOS (via BKN) 2014 1st Round Pick, BOS 2015 2nd Round Pick Would Boston have to send one of their lower value 1st Rounders like the one from the Clips in 2015 from the Doc trade instead of the 2nd rounder? Or is it fair as is? Why Boston does it: This team is not tanking, and it's well known that they have nobody at center and would be enamored with the idea of a defensive anchor like Asik. They're loaded with picks, and wouldn't really have to overpay to get him. Why Philadelphia does it: Unlike many teams we say should rebuild, they actually are rebuilding. This is a great way for them to pick up assets and cap space while increasing their shot at a top pick in the draft. Why Houston does it: I've already expressed it above, but Young would be a great addition and shore up our PF spot for the future. It gives us flexibility as well to try and deal one of our young PFs if need be (now or later on) to fill another hole.
Ilyasova is a ridiculous shooter from the outside. Casspi may just be bench material. He's done much of nothing. Couldn't play his way into more time in Cleveland and his shooting percentage has dropped the past two years. Ilyasova would be a certified stretch 4 for this team.
Worst trade ever, but CF would go into orbit. http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6329862 :grin::grin:
A three way trade that would benefit all teams. To Dallas Omer Asik To Milwaukee Shawn Marion To Houston Ersan Ilyasova Thoughts?
I have been saying the same thing for a while now, although I am projecting a three team deal involving Portland rather than Boston. Doesn't matter from Houston's perspective who the third team is. Yes, unlike the idiotic stream of Kevin Love and Lamarcus Aldridge proposals, a trade for Young is actually very realistic.
Thaddeus Young would be a good get. He is like a poor mans Josh Smith at half the price. Then again, is Terrence Jones a poor mans Thaddeus Young at half the price? LOL
Somehow I don't think Boston wants Asik or Lin's contracts. I think they want to have open capspace to go after big name free agents next year.
Completely agree. That's why I am suggest a three team deal involving Portland, not Boston. I think Portland is very focused on making the playoffs next season. I think they will, if they get Asik and keep their key guys (Aldridge, Batum, and Lilliard).
I like Illyasova but I think we can get more for Asik with his stock being so high. Plus, I'm not thrilled with the idea of giving Dallas Asik. Asik-Nowitzki scares me.
Love the IDEA of acquiring K Love. But don't see how we can obtain him when morey plans to sign/extend CP25 in 2 years.
Yeah, I think we either see Parsons extended and a pf of illyasova/andersens caliber bbroughtin or chandler gets traded in the last year of his contract for a guy like Love or Aldridge.
Love opts out. Let Lin and Asik become free agents. Sign K Love to Free Agent deal. Use Bird Rights that allow Rockets to go over the cap to sign Parsons and Beverley to new contracts over the cap. The following would be under contract. Howard Love, Motiejunas, Jones Parsons, Covington Harden Beverley Canaan The Rockets could also trade Lin and Asik for Love or in a multiteam trade before hand. Rockets have Bird Rights for Parsons and Beverley so Rockets can go over cap to sign them. Since Parsons and Beverley's salaries are so small their cap holds will be small.
