In the hypothetical scenario where I am Morey I would not take McGee if you paid me. That guy is an idiot and a cancer.
So we get the best player in the deal and the only thing we give up with value is Scola? I can't see PHX/LA agreeing to this
LA would take the gamble because Scola is a great complement to Bynum with his money mid range jumper + 2nd option in the low post. On defense, he is a much weaker contributor. However, in the new CBA age Scola costs 10+million less than Gasol. Currently the LA trio is ~90% of their cap space. Also, Nash provides the team with a primary playmaker that will manage the game at all times. Gasol is nerfed in LA. He is the best player in the trade but LA can't use him to his full potential. This trade is equivalent to Gasol = $1, Nash = .85, Scola = .75. PHX does this because this is Nash' last year of contract and it's better to trade him than lose him for nothing. They are not going to win anything let alone the playoffs. therefore, there is no incentive for them to get wins and lower their draft pick. We should probably add a pick (not our NY one though) or give up a coveted youth (Chase/Morris/etc) to help with their rebuild.
Don't know where else to put this so I'll leave it here: Adrian Wojnarowski(Woj) was on the Dan Patrick Show earlier this morning. http://danpatrick.com/ (Should be at or near the top) or http://www.danpatrick.com/2012/02/0...s-future-gasol-trade-rumors-and-rubio-impact/ (3:59-5-23) or (4:39-5:23) (Mannix: )We had Andrew Bynum on in the last hour and I asked him if he thought this Lakers team could win with the roster as currently constructed and he said yes. You look at this team, can they still be a championship contender with this group of players? (Woj: )No, they need better guard play. They have to get it. I think they'll do that by the trade deadline, whether they absorb a player into, you know they have that Lamar Odom exception. They talked with Cleveland about Ramon Sessions. They reached out about some other guards who can come in and just give them another veteran guard to shore up that back court. (Woj cont'd: )Will they do a big trade? They had talks about Gasol over the last several months in different spots and not pull the trigger. Well they did pull the trigger on the 3 team trade that got blown up. If there is a chance to get a very good PG, would they put Gasol in? The one team you have to look at and wonder if they may not restart talks again is Houston. Houston wanted Pau Gasol very much and were devastated by that deal falling apart. Would they part with a Kyle Lowry as part as a package for Gasol? I just think that's something that those teams would have to give a lot of thought to but I don't think we'll get to the trade deadline without those two teams talking again.
Lowry in a swap for Gasol - not interested. Gasol/Ebanks/Morris for Scola/Dragic/Thabust works on trade machine... this I would consider... although really, I hate doing anything that could help LA.
I would not want to give up Lowry or Dragic at this point unless we are completely starting over. That is why i suggested the 3 way trade including the Celtics. I would however like to see Gasol starting next to Dally and see how that would work out.
I would also trade Scola Thabeet and Flynn for Gasol but I don't think LA would go for that. I don't believe Flynn is the type of PG they are looking for unless they are very desperate. Although Thabeet would give them a big body if Bynum goes down with injury again. That trade works on trade machine also.
I take it back...this trade would kill our cap flexibility for next year unless we moved Martin in a seperate deal. So I am not so sure about this trade.
If he was available then it would be different but they not letting Marc go anytime soon. So I hate to break your heart but it is Pau I am refering to, but you knew that, you were just in denial lol.
Dragic is an expiring. I bet there are a couple teams who would pay him close to a starters wage just like Lee. Both Dragic and Lee are gonna be hard cases to keep. So you can give him up or lose him.
It's the kind of thing where it makes sense on the surface but the egos of the other GMs/owners involved would never let Morey win the trade that big.

If we were going to get Williams, you would have to deal Lowry but then I would hope to hold on to Martin. Dwight/Williams/Martin being the ideal win scenario. Lowry+Scola+Hill+Budinger+Thabeet for Williams.
K-Mart, 2Pat, and Bud for Derrick Williams and Mike Beasley. Then, Scola, unrestricted FA-to-be Dragic, and J-Chill for Roy Hibbert + filler. Next, sign FA Eric Gordon and draft either Cody Zeller or Meyers Leonard. Lowry Gordon/Lee Parsons/Beasley Williams/Morris Hibbert/Zeller (Beasley/Morris interchangeable) Focus on a backup PG in free agency/draft.
All sounds good to me except the Zeller part. Id go after Beal,Lamb,Sullinger with the Ny pick and Leonard with ours, plus Dmo is coming
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=8a3r78d Rockets Thompson, Cavs Bledsoe and Hill Clips CLee Can I get your thoughts.... Both the Cavs and Clips will be preping for their respected playoff runs. Cavs need backups and the clips need Billups replacement.
