Rockets keep their 2012 free agency alive, ie room for two max contracts. Martin to T-Wolves ←→ Beasley, Webster, Randolph + pick to Rockets Johnson/Lee, Randolph to Blazers ←→ Batum, TE to Rockets Beasley, Webster, Flynn, Hill ←→ Kaman's expiring contract to Rockets Johnson to any team for 2012 1st round pick if not traded to Blazers Sign Fesenko Lowry, Dragic Batum, Budinger, TWill Morris, Parsons Scola, Patterson, Adrien Kaman, Fesenko, Thabeet, Dalembert Both Kaman and Fesenko are basically auditioning for next season's backup C role.
Two of those players are injured. Fesenko didnt even want to sign with us a few years back, why would he now?
They're not long term injuries, physicals can be waived anyway. The Rockets flew in Fesenko for a meeting but never offered him a contract.
Beasley and Johnson for Kmart and Bud or Kmart for Beasley and Pekoic. Let Adelman have his old Players back because he cant coach rookies who have to learn the game.
Doubt Martin will actually be traded for the kind of crap you are listing. Pretty sure Minny will more or less just give away Beasley and Pekovic at this point.
Random thought, but can i just tell you how much i like Tristan Thompson. I wish we could package a few vets for this kid. He's a player to develop and build around. Unfortunately, I'm sure the cavs already realize this.
How about rejuvenate the Spurs for a year or so while we rebuild. Scola+Martin+Budinger for Richard Jefferson (expiring deal)+Kawhi Leonard+Tiago Splitter+Filler+2012 first round pick.
btw: am i the only person that thinks Randolph, Wes Johnson, and Beasley are all busts? I wouldn't want any of those guys near my team. We already have Flynn who rounds out Minny's bust list. Let's not fall into the trap of trading with Minny just because Adelman likes Kevin Martin. Basically, Minny doesn't have anything we want. And they just wasted their high draft pick last year on a tweener 4. "Stay out da Wolves"! I think Adelman's got his work cut out for him.
For those who think that tanking is the cure-all... if you look at the Minny's or Washington's roster, there are a lot of "talented" guys on that roster. However, because of their respective team performances and relative perception, the trade value for everyone not named Love or Wall is pretty low. That's why it's important for our team to continue a winning culture. Meanwhile, are there any players on bad teams (ala Randolph) that are better than their projected image that we can acquire for cheap?
I think this is an interesting question. Personally, I completely agree with you -- I would not want any of those players on the Rockets, and would rather give Martin away for nothing than add more useless fodder to the roster. However, there is a chance that other teams may value what Minnesota has to offer. So, the logic I see in a Martin to TWolves trade is 1) the Twolves value him more and will give up more assets for him than any other team 2) that another team will value those pieces and give Houston whatever they are seeking (be that picks, cap space, a particular player). Beasley can score 20 a game, Johnson may still have value as a young prospect to some, and players like Ridnour or Randolph could be seen by other teams as valuable role players. I can't tell you which team would value such players, and I agree that any GM that would trade for those guys should probably be fired, I still agree with the Martin to Twolves crowd -- but only as long as a third team can be found who wants what Minnesota can offer...and that is a big IF.
Hate to say it, but I mostly agree at this point. I loved Randolph when he was a rookie, felt like he could really be something. But he can't even get minutes in front of Beasley and Beasley sucks. It's hard to believe he never developed. I'm thinking he's got some sort of psychological problem that has kept him from growing into something a lot better. Wes Johnson, huge disappointment. He looks like he won't be around the league much more than another year or two.
What are the chances that if the Knicks are playing mediocre to poor at the trade deadline that they would be interested in a trade reset? We trade them Thabeet's expiring, Dally, and Hill for Tyson Chandler and top 1 protection on their draft pick instead of top 5. This would give them cap space combined with other deals to go after DWill this offseason or possibly sign Nash for a couple year run. We get our center, albiet a big contract, but that would give us all our main pieces that we have now, plus a couple good draft picks (our lottery pick and NY's lottery pick) Lowry Martin Parsons Chandler Scola Dragic Lee Morris Smith (minimum salary deal after the trade) Patterson TWill Adrien 2012 lottery pick - Houston 2012 lottery pick - New York So, NY wouldn't do that? Okay, what if we offered them their pick back. Would they do it then if they weren't contending?
I honestly don't think they would go for that or that their season will come to that. For one thing, I think they will clearly be at least in the hunt for the payoffs, and I think from their they will maintain the roster for two reasons: 1) they will have the mindset that once they are in the Playoffs that, with their big 3, that they will have a chance to make a run -- and I can't really argue with them. 2) Even if they do badly and miss the playoffs or do not win a series, their thinking will probably be that they can do a lot better with the same core group next season, especially after they ditch D'Antonio and add a couple more role players like the Heat did this last offseason. Also, even if they do decide to trade Chandler, I think they could get more for him than you were offering.
I know this trade likely wont happen because they get Chandler recently but it's a great scenario for us and actually for them too. They will probably suffer this year with melo-amare-dalembert trio and get Deron Williams next year, and we will probably get a first 5 pick in this draft. Great idea.
Hill, Lee, Williams for Batum, filler Bud for Anthony Randolph Cut Flynn because I hate him Lowry/Dragic Martin Batum/Parsons Scola/Randolph Dalembert/Patterson New rotation yes please.
The only realestic trade for Martin is going to be either Minn or Ok City. Scola may be dealt at the deadline to a contendor but other than that lets pray for NY tonot completly suck so we get a good pick, and pray we are in for a pick below 14 or NJ gets our first.
I like this a lot and I've suggested moves for Granger in the past. I think it's fair for both sides. I've always wanted Granger and absolutely love his game. He's the perfect player for us. A long athletic wing that has no real weakness to his game. This move will also make Lee a starter which he is. Lowry Lee Granger Scola Dalembert The trade is addition by subtraction. By subtracting Martin we're adding Lee to the starting lineup who's a solid scorer obviously not in Martin's level but our defense improves a ton. Then you add Granger who can do it all and that pushes Bud down the depth chart. We're not going anywhere with K-Mart as option 1 or 2 on this team. I was ecstatic when we originally acquired him because he was the perfect compliment to Yao. The only way I keep Martin is if we magically land Dwight somehow. Hill is a decent big but he's not un-expendable by any means. We can find another Hill in the short term and this also gives more minutes to PP. I'd like to keep the Knicks pick but it's fairly volatile and if trading it as part of a package nets you Granger .. I make that move all day every day.
