    I like it a lot

If we throw in Budinger would close the deal?
Budinger's playing time --> Lee and Williams then Morris in time

Lopez would be the STARTER here in Houston

(Maybe Flynn I do know if they signed a back-up point or not)

Lowry wasn't the deal breaker in the round II talks.

The deal breaker was the league asking for Scola/Martin/additional pieces AND Lowry. There's a difference.

Gasol is a top 15 player. We would be wise to pull the trigger on a deal like the one I just suggested.

    Saw this trade @ Hornets247.com

Not a bad proposition at all and solves Clippers unwillingness to part with Gordon. I do think the Rockets deserve a little more though.

I want no part of Okafor's contract.

His contract will set us back 3 years if not more.

It's pretty bad actually, and I would like Okafor. But he's just not worth acquiring in anything more than a salary dump. Giving up Martin would be crazy, when you consider that Okafor's contract runs a year longer than KMart's.

I'm not even sure whether I'd do this trade myself, but here's something to mull over if Morey is absolutely DESPERATE for a center AND is not expecting to make a major "superstar free agent splash" in 2012 free agency (if it appears that CP3, D-Will and Howard are all going to re-sign with their [new?] teams and/or sign extensions):

Houston trades: Hasheem Thabeet, Marqus Blakely and Marcus Cousin
    for
Golden State trades: Andris Biedrins and a lottery-protected 2014 first round pick

    Why Houston does it:
The Rockets get a legit center in Biedrins, albeit an overpriced one at $9M per season for the next THREE years. However, given the paydays that other centers have recently gotten, that salary may not look quite that disturbing today.

They also get a future first rounder out of this deal, for the trouble of taking on the remaining $27M of Biedrins's deal. Keep in mind, however, that Golden State owes a top-7 protected 2012 first rounder to Utah (via New Jersey) that may not actually be conveyed until as late as 2014, so the pick to Houston in this deal may not come until 2016 or even later than that.

By including Blakely and Cousin along with Thabeet, the Rockets can get the salaries within the new salary-matching rules, which allows the Rockets the option to retain all of their salary cap exceptions (such as the MLE, the BAE and the large Battier TPE) rather than using pure cap space and having to renounce all of such exceptions.

    Why Golden State does it:
They get out from under Biedrins's contract before being faced with an extension on Steph Curry that would create a crowd of large contracts on the roster (along with D.Lee's and Ellis's deals). The pick will be lottery-protected and will be potentially so far out in the future as to not have much consequence to Golden State at this time.

They get themselves a one-year look (or maybe a two-year look, if they exercise his option) at Thabeet and can either keep or waive Blakely and Cousin (both of whose contracts are non-guaranteed). This deal could save the team as much as ~$22M over the next three years.

(Maybe the Rockets even throw in the draft rights to Chandler Parsons as a "sweetener".)

    Just something to think about.

I see that the lockout+trade fiasco has gotten to even the best of us.

    No thanks to GSW trash.

Do you know why we such a treadmill team right now?
It's a combination of a good GM + bad luck.
Based on our luck of Yao and McGrady, we should've been bottom dwellers. However, since we've had a good GM, we've been able to stay afloat.
To get stars or superstars in the NBA you have to have:
    1) bad GM, good luck = lottery win
    2) good GM, good luck = perfect timing for trade/FA/educated guess on draft

The system is not helpful toward our plight out of mediocrity.

    Our starting lineup would be

    Lowry/Dragic
    Lee/Williams
    Morris/Budinger
    Gasol/Patterson
    Gortat/???

    Nice.

    1. Trade anything Stern is asking for CP3.
    2. Try to convince CP3 to stay (As the Nets are doing with D-Will) and have him recruit other top tier talent.
    3a. Have him sign extension.
3b. He leaves and goes somewhere else after we gutted our team to get him, thus leaving us a top 3 worst NBA team.
    4. Natural Tanking to get top 3 pick.

    Nevermind. Moot Point.

New trade idea because im bored...

Houston trades: Scola, Lowry, Bud, Martin, Dragic
Houston receives: Al Jefferson, Pau Gasol, Devin Harris

Utah trades: Al Jefferson, Devin Harris
Utah receives: Kevin Martin, Goran Dragic

    Lakers trade: Pau Gasol
    Lakers receive: Scola, Lowry, Bud

This trade works using amnesty on Thabeet.
