a slam dunk would be Iguodala for Granger. For both teams, tbh. Philly - shooter, doesn't need to handle the ball much, relatively healthy, average defender. Indiana - ball handler, creator, distributor, extremely healthy, another elite defender vs. Miami.
Martin is often injured and has more flaws. Sure, he fits better. But it's a downgrade.

So if he averaged 5 points next year his value is the same? So when Tmac was 29 and having his worst year as a pro, teams should've traded for him on merit, because before that he was a superstar right?

If they needed shooting that bad they could trade for Kyle Korver or someone like that. Instead of giving up their best player for a 30 year old SG who doesn't play D and is coming off his worst year as a pro.

Do you think they'd do that deal? Deep bench guy for solid contributor?

How about signing the guy from Tunisia who put up 22 and 11 boards against Team USA?

after 1 year with no training camp, probably not. but Fredette hasn't shown much solid. another year, and he might be available for free.

Marc is not far from Bynum.
It makes little sense for them.
Bynum had injury problems, character problems, it's not sure he'll resign in Memphis, and if he does, it will be for more money than Gasol (which is important to Memphis right now).

also, if that was available, why on earth would Orlando include Houston in the deal. they'd just take Marc themselves.

Right, because Kevin Martin suffered a career ending injury.

There would be a conversation between the GM and the scouts about how he plays, how he fits and the reasons his numbers declined. If a scout tried to use the "worst numbers last year" as any sort of argument, he would likely be fired immediately.

I should have probably included all the players in the hypotethical trade but it was late and I was lazy to see if the salaries would fit by but here's a rough idea.

    LA gets Dwight, ZBO, Turk
MEM gets Bynum, PatPat, jrich, douglas
    HOU gets Pau, Marc, duhon
ORL gets Kmart, Royce, tjones, Morris, mcrob, ebanks, 1st rnders, 2nd rnders

Memphis probably doesn't do this but since this is for fun, Bynum is more of a game changer than Marc when healthy, they get to shed zbo's contract and replace him with a cheaper younger lottery talent plus jrich for outside shooting on the wing.

Orlando gets to clear most of its salaries, plus acquire multiple draft picks instead of taking on gasol's contract.

But you're right, no telling if Bynum resigns or stays healthy, but I'm bored at work.

    fair enough.

but indeed, no way Memphis does it.

In this version, they win some money, they lose on talent, health, contract situation.
I also suspect they wouldn't see any value in Patrick Patterson, they've got Arthur (who's the same player as Pat) and Speights (who's got more potential).

And I still don't see why Houston is in that deal though.

I'm saying to deny his value has dropped even though his play dropped significantly last year is asinine.

    Hou sends to Det:
    Martin
    Patterson
    Dallas 1ST

    Det sends to Hou:
    Maggette
    Monroe

Det has Austin Daye to replace Corey and Drummound to replace Monroe. Plus the need a true SG on their Roster and an additional PF. Martin is a bigger expiring than Maggette so this trade could intrest then.

We move 3 of our trade chips but gain a good young legit center and a trade chip in return in Maggette. Those two players could help balance our team out nicely.

    Lin/Douglas
    Maggette/Lamb
    Parsons/Maggette
    D-Mo/Jones
    Monroe/Asik
