Good thought, now Luis Scola, Martin and Dally are going to be 3rd stringers? Let them go to a contender then!

    M. Morris is not a PF…

your most tradeable guys are Scola, K mart and Lowry… move them for NBA talent and keep our 2 picks to move into the top 10 of draft..

Or put the players with the picks and future picks and start a new era with an even higher pick or two.

we have filler with a lot of value:
Chase Budinger (< 1M/1yr), Greg Smith(< 1M/3yrs), Sergio Llull (a lot of upside/ no dollar value -pure filler), Marcus Morris (rookie contract/3yrs), Patrick Patterson (rookie contract/2yrs)

Then let DMtheGM do his thing - fill in the gaps

-Can't think of a team who wants Scola's contract, GS ? NJ ? he is still a good leader.
-Martin and Dalembert can be use to move up in the draft, and they are expiring contracts.

    @dreamshake97

    -M.Morris is a tweener SF/PF.

Something like this: Trading Kevin Martin in order to obtain the 9th pick

HOU sends Kevin Martin to Minnesota
Minnesota sends Webster and Brad Miller (contracts with a combined $1.45 mil guaranteed) and the 18th pick to Detroit.
Detroit sends Villanueva and the 9th overall pick to Houston

    Salary checks out:

Detroit gets to dump almost $15 million in salary at the cost of moving down 9 spots. Trading away Charlie V also allows them to actually open up cap space immediately (and for the next 2 years) by amnestying their other bad contract, Ben Gordon.

Minnesota gets Kevin Martin at the cost of the 18th pick.

The Rockets gives up Kevin Martin and agrees to eat Villanueva's substantial salary for the year 2013 ($8.5 million player option) to acquire the 9th pick, which may be used to draft a player or in a trade-up effort (they still have the 14th and 16th-- and it's a lot easier to ask the team holding, say, the 6th or 7th pick to move down to 9th than to 14th). Added benefit: This actually opens up a bit more 2012 cap space for the Rockets. Even with Charlie V's 2013/14 salary added, the Rockets can still have cap flexibility going into that season if they play their cards right with (a) the amnesty clause (still in their back pocket, can use it on Scola if need be, (b) Dragic and Lee, and (c) trades.

Finally a realistic trade scenario. Thanks Carl. I think thats a deal that could actually work out. Ive looked at Detroit as a team the Rockets could really utilize to get rebuilding players from at the expense of taking on either Charlie V. or Gordon. We all know that Minnesota wants Kevin Martin, but people on here need to be realistic in their expectations of what they are going to give up to get him. Which isn't much.

Ok. I get it... Minny wants Martin... but I just can't get over the idea that there are other alternative swing men for them as well.

Sure, there are. However, Martin is probably one of the better options for them.

    Consider the following:

    (1) Anyone they trade for will also cost them some assets, some teams might want more than the 18th pick in a trade for their guy.

    (2) any decent player they want to sign in free agency will receive competing bids and will likely requires a substantial multi-year contract. Martin is on a 1-year contract, allowing Minnesota to look at him with their team for a whole year before deciding whether to commit more salary on re-signing him.

    (3) Martin has also proven to work well with Adelman, so he has a better probability to be a good fit than some of the other options.

I really believe that the Heat will trade Bosh after the season, especially with the strong cap penalties starting next season or after that. The Heat have 78mil tied up into 11 players with of course Wade, James, & Bosh taking the bulk next season, they have no room to bring in other players & they might use the amnesty on M. Miller. So I believe they'd trade Bosh for expirings, picks, or smaller contracts to add more depth for their future.

If their searching for depth, we truly have the assets to acquire Bosh & =the trade I proposed does improve the depth for the Heat.
    - Scola: 3yrs remaining, 3rd yr non-guaranteed
    - Patterson: 2yrs remaining, then is a RFA
    - Dalembert: 6.7 mil expiring contract
    - Dal 1st(top 20 protected): future asset

I guess. As long as their philosophy is to outscore their opponent.
Martin is not a big difference maker not here and surely not in Minnesota in terms of overall winning.
They would only do us a favor by taking him off our hands.
Martin hasn't been able to do the little things once his shot is off, again, I know it might not be important but he hasn't shown any leadership either, his sulking because he might be traded is rather childish and does not fit with a young Wolves team.

    3) Martin has proven he can play in Adelman's system. Problem which is not ours to figure is... Adelman complained that Minny's players did not grasp the concept of his system so far... so Martin might help but I don't see him doing anything great for them. At his best and that was when he scored 50 points he was still considered a borderline allstar that is more of an offensive specialist who rarely closes out games.

Kmart and dally are nba starters and they net us a 21 pick? And 2 backups get us 2 players and a top 10 pick? No way..

Secondly why would we want 4 first round picks? 2 is plenty.

-Harden is a backup, Sefolosha is a starter, which of the 2 players have more value.

-Dalembert became a backup center when morey signed Camby, Lee had played better than Kmart, who do you think should start at sg, Bud was a starter before, Pat can be a starter, the only reason stopping him becoming a starter is Scola. Bud and Pat are both good and young most teams would want in a trade, and which team will be able to absorb the contract of Kmart, other teams can if you want a bad contracts in return.

-Only crazy gm would trade their superstar, I don't care if you only want 2 picks, I want more picks, more picks more rookies with potential that can turn into a star or all-star players.

-If you don't like my trade ideas, whatever, stop whining and make your own trade ideas.

    Just a thought!
Say Raptors drafted best player available in the draft which happened to be PG either Lilliard or Marshall, then match an offer to retain J. Bayless. Do you think J. Calderon would be someone worth trading for as our backup PG next season if Dragic demands a big pay raise & leaves?

    J. Calderon(expiring), J. Johnson for K. Martin(expiring), M. Morris, Dal 1st
Would be more of a lateral move to rid ourselves of K. Martin & get a quality PG to backup K. Lowry J. Johnson brings more athleticism & can immediately contribute backup behind C. Parsons.

    Trades:
To Miami: Lowry, Scola, Dalembert, 2013 1st
    To Houston: Bosh, Miller
    - Miami makes a deal only if they don’t win it all. They get a top PG, a scoring PF, a full sized C, and get rid of Miller’s contract.

    To Detroit: #14, Patterson
    To Houston: #9
    - Detroit is looking for inside players to pair with Monroe. With guys like Moultrie/Henson/Zeller/Leonard around, they can trade back to grab one, and get another young big in PPat in the process.

    To Philly: Martin, Morris
    To Houston: Iguodala
    - Philly will give the reigns to Turner, and get rid of Iggy soon. Around him, they get a low-usage scorer in Martin, and a project in Morris.

    To OKC: Chase Budinger
    To Houston: #28 pick
    - OKC can use a backup to KD, and instead of drafting a project, they can get a guy to contribute right away.

Draft: PF/SF Perry Jones III at #9, C Meyers Leonard at #16. PG Scott Machado at #28
FA: Resign Dragic, Resign Camby, sign OJ Mayo.

    Camby/Leonard/FA-filler
    Bosh/Motiejunas/P.Jones
    Iguodala/Parsons/M.Miller
    Mayo/Lee/M.Miller
    Dragic/Machado

That'd be a playoff team with enough young guys to contribute/develop for the future.

Love this scenario. Obviously, this is the optimum trade that Morey will be seeking. If it takes 2 first rounders, then one in 2012 and the other in 2013. Rockets need at least one of those picks in this draft.

With that draft pick, take a long shooter like Quincy Miller or a playmaking versatile big, like Royce White or a consensus top 10 player who free falls, like John Henson or Quincy Miller. In FA, sign Dragic, Camby, Lee (or an upgrade, e.g. Nicolas Batum). Bring over Motiejunas and Lull (if possible, if not then sign a vet FA like Billups or Detriot's Williams).

Perhaps another trade to acquire Iggy. It may take Scola and a 2nd/Morris.

    PG: Dragic, Llull/Billups
    SG: Iguodala, Budinger
    SF: Parsons, Turkoglu
    PF: Motiejunas, White
    C: Howard, Camby
