Why ATL does this: Josh Smith wants out. Vocally. Atlanta is reported to want a decent forward and point guard in return for him. They get two starting-caliber players at those positions + one with high potential for the future. They aren't going to get an impact player for Smith, who is not quite an all-star caliber guy. Getting some solid players and a bit of potential is the best they will be able to do. Why Utah does this: They have too many big men and are looking to trade Jefferson or Millsap to open up playing time for Favors and Kanter, two top, top prospects buried on the bench. Jefferson is their biggest contract and is the one they are most likely to move. This way they shore up a position of weakness with Martin, and get some potential to continue a solid rebuild via Morris and a mid first round pick. Why we do this: We desperately need upgrade to our frontcourt. Courtney Lee is good enough to start at SG and do all the little things you want a perimeter roleplayer to do--defense, knock down open shots, slash without the ball, run the break. Josh Smith is a huge defensive/rebounding upgrade for the frontcourt but he does turn our frontcourt into a black hole offensively. Enter Al Jefferson: An offense-only PF/C to balance out Smith. Our bench is only average after this trade, but the starting lineup gets a lot better. Lowry/Flynn Lee/Budinger Parsons/Budinger Smith/Patterson Jefferson/Dalembert
I like this trade, I wouldn't mind to put Dalembert in the trade for Josh if they want him in the trade
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=88r3g9b i've seen people talking about this trade so i was thinking is it a smart move
Josh Smith has demanded a traded for how many seasons now? He won't get dealt. Even if he was Atlanta would want a couple of players at Lowry's level of ability and sized contracts. The Hawks have been stuck for years because of their team salary.
We need to trade for Javale Mcgee. I know he has become a running joke in the league but he just needs a change of scenery. Buy low time! 24 yr old shot blocker. Bring him in and let McHale work with him. Before I get ripped and laughed off the site just remember Zach Randolph use to be the same way with knucklehead plays!
ATL wants to move Horford to PF, so I guess this could interest them more than the other proposals on this thread. HOU in: Josh Smith out: Kevin Martin, Jodan Hill ATL in: Al Jefferson, Jamaal Tinsley out: Josh Smith, Jannero Pargo UTAH in: Kevin Martin, Jordan Hill, Jannero Pargo out: Al Jefferson, Jamaal Tinsley Throw in 2 nd rounder if UTAH wants more.
I'd rather send Scola to ATL in some way (combined with other assets). Scola is going to be difficult to move in trade so we should take any opportunity to get value for him.
1st Trade: Houston Sends: Kyle Lowry,Luis Scola to PHX,Our Pick Houston Gets: Steve Nash,Hakim Warrick 2nd Trade: Houston Sends: Kevin Martin,Jordan Hill, NY Pick Houston Gets: Al Jefferson, Raja Bell PHX gets a border line all star PG and is young, and a Proven PF in the league. Utah frees up space for there developing big man,a scorer, and a pick. (Might have to give up more) New Houston Lineup: Nash/Dragic Lee/Bell Parsons/Budinger/Williams Patterson/Warrick Jefferson/Dalembert
Ah True. Lowry,Scola,Morris for Nash,Warrick Suns would probably love to see what can happen if they have both twins.
I hope that this year's deadline brings more for us than last year. All this hype and anticipation better amount to Dwight Howard. At the very least we better have Kevin Martin playing for another team because he doesn't belong here anymore. He's useless to us.
