Bud, Hill, Thabeet + future 2nd round pick considerations

    for

    Wallace, K. Thomas

PDX: commits to Batum. gets a decent backup for ultracheap in Bud. Hill would be more useful in natural PF spot as backup to LMA and next to Pryz/Camby.

HOU: gets major talent upgrade and sorely needed post defense. Wallace is still one of the best positional defenders and rebounders in the league. Still relatively young and is a good complement to K Mart's game. Would be able to focus on those two aforementioned aspects and hopefully regain his Charlotte day monster status (10rbs!, 2.6 combined blks+stls).

I like this trade. Wallace would be a perfect fit on this team. I doubt Crash goes back to 10rpg but with scola as your 4, who who knows! I would just hope he regains that touch from beyond the arch. He's still been very efficient from the field though.

Trade machine isn't working so I don't know if this trade would work or not. But if it works money wise, I think it helps every team involved.

Houston Gets: Paul Pierce, Jermaine O'Neal, Andrew Goudelock

LA Gets: Rajon Rondo, Wes Johnson, Darko

Minnesota Gets: Pau Gasol, Ray Allen, Jason Kapono

Boston Gets: Kevin Martin, Michael Beasley, Goran Dragic, Hasheem Thabeet

    Lineups:

    Boston:

    Gragic/Dooling
    Martin/Bradley
    Beasley/Pietrus
    Garnett/Bass
    Stiesmsa/Thabeet

    LA:

    Rondo/Fisher
    Kobe/Wes
    Barnes/Artest
    McRoberts/Murphy
    Bynum/Darko

    Minnesota:

    Rubio/Ridnour
    Allen/Barea/Kapono
    Williams/Webster
    Love/Randolph
    Gasol/Pekovic

    Houston:

    Lowry/Flynn/Goudelock
    Lee/Pierce/Bud
    Pierce/Parsons/Morris/TWill
    Scola/Patterson//Hill/Morris
    Dalembert/O'Neal/Smith

If Morris earns some minutes (which he will eventually) then we could slide Pierce down to SG and have Morris and Parsons split minutes, along with Lee getting significant mibutes off the bench.

Then flip O'Neal (if thats legal), Twill,Bud, Hill for Kamen

    Lowry/Flynn/Goudelock
    Lee/Pierce/Goudelock
    Pierce/Parsons/Morris
    Scola/Patterson/Morris
    Kamen/Dalembert/Smith

Don't give up Martin for Pierce. Trading for Pierce is a win now move and he's a marginal upgrade right now, and his value will continue to drop because he's already 34. By this time next year Martin may be the better player.

I'm fine with going after Pierce, but if we do, we either need to keep the current core together, or add another good player alongside him to replace Martin.

    Lowry
    Martin
    Wallace
    Scola
    Kaman

I hope this is our line-up after the dead line if we cannot net a super star caliber player..

I doubt the Jazzholes would do this, but weirder things have happened.

Why not just trade for Millsap? Gasol has more star power to attract free agents and he has more of an inside presence (7-footer versus 6'8"), which is what we're looking for.

HOU gets: JaVale McGee, Jordan Crawford, Rashard Lewis, Donald Sloan
NOH gets: Andray Bratche, Goran Dragic, Terrence Williams, '12 WAS's 2nd rounder
WAS gets: Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Chris Kaman

McGee is no untouchable. The rockets get young, the hornets add some depth, the wizards improve their squad dramatically.

mcgee would provide something we dont hve with sammy. above the rim play, excellent rebounding, and better shot blocking. We get killed every game in the paint for a reason. Sam isnt consistant and every other big is undersized . Mcgee is young and better jumper than dwight. He just does stupid stuff because he is frustrated with losing all the time. He has to make the game fun for himself somehow.

I like the idea, but I'd rather trade Martin for Al Jefferson straight up ... I think we are giving up to much anyway. I think we should keep PPat and Morris.

No! The Lakers want what they've wanted all along if it means parting with Gasol.

They haven't wavered and they haven't changed direction on this. anymore than the Rockets have altered their intentions to acquire Gasol.

The Lakers are seeking a top tiered, star power point guard if it means parting with Gasol and they thought they had their man in Chris Paul.

    The commissioner had other ideas.

If they were seeking depth they would go in a different direction, trading with another team that has younger, more affordable pieces that they would be willing to part with and the Lakers would include more of their journeyman players as well.

If they can't get their PG (Lowry. Rondo etc) they'll keep Gasol and lower their standards in terms of PG's.

This is where Dragic could become an alternative for the Lakers but Gasol would no longer be on the table for the Rockets.

Dude, if we could land Harden, so much would be right in Rocket-land.

I won't hold my breath on the chance, though.

Maybe if (DETOUR: MASSIVE PIPE DREAM AHEAD) we cleared massive cap space somehow and signed Harden and Ibaka both to massive contracts and forced Oklahoma City to match.

You could offer Courtney Lee and whomever and the NYK pick but no way OKC screws up team chemistry this year. They'll wait until the offseason to deal with Harden and Ibaka (are they restricted free agents yet?) By which time Lee will be restricted and things get complicated.

Gasol isn't worth all that. And I like the idea of him as a Rocket.

I don't think people understand that Harden is under contract at a cheap price through next season. I doubt he is even on the table right now in trade talks, and if he is, I'm skeptical the Rockets could convince OKC to part with him. They don't need Lowry. Maybe if they feel very strongly that they need another shotblocker they would consider a deal for Martin, Dalembert, and picks/youngs.
