Do you think Josh Smith could fit with the Rockets and fill our defensive void?

I feel like I should be against a Bibby trade more than I am in this scenario; however, Josh Smith is a 4. Yes, he began playing the 3, but learned he doesn't have a jump shot and was put at PF to dunk everything by his coaching staff.

I agree with you. Philly might be reluctant to give him up though.

Love this idea. Count me in here. I do think Josh is more of a 4 these days but can play both spots. His shot blocking would help with a Hayes/Miller C rotation.

    Jefferies for Blatche.

Could bite us in the ass but its worth the risk. Not a pretty contract but good production.

Smith shooting 42% from 3 this year to go with 47% from the field. He might be the stretch 4 we've been looking for.

Andray Blatche.................he's Zach Randolph's kiss'n cous'n. Mr. Ghetto r****d II. No thank you.

How about Jeffries and Hill to Clippers for Kamen and Minnesota's 2011 first rounder?

I'd down-grade Brooks to Bibby (mostly Age) for the chance to up-grade Battier to Josh Smith. J-Smooth's shooting 42% from 3-land and almost 4 assist a game so he can easily replace Shane as a "SF". i think he can guard any 3s in the league while cause match up problem for oppsite team. Hayes/Lowry/J-Smooth is top 5 defensive starting trio next to Kobe/Ron/Byrum - Duncan/Jefferson/Munu - CP3/Ariza/Okafor while KMart+Scola will give us 45pt a game.

The Hawks would never do that deal though, Deuce.

As somebody that follows Atlanta closely I can assure you they've been searching for a Bibby replacement for years, so Brooks would definitely be a positive in that regard. Unfortunately, his impending free agency basically taints our biggest selling point to Atlanta.

Furthermore, this move would tremendously imbalance Atlanta's roster. Sure, Horford has talked of moving to the four and Josh's departure would allow him to slide over. The problems are: 1) It leaves them with no center to speak of (Pachulia is not a starter in this league) and 2) Battier would other further clutter the SF position. Getting smaller does nothing for an Atlanta team that will likely face Dwight Howard in the playoffs at some point.

    3 Way Trade

    Dallas Trades: Brendan Haywood
    Dallas Receives: Jared Jeffries

    Houston Trades: Jared Jeffries
    Houston Receives: Andray Blatche

    Washington Trades: Andray Blatche
    Washington Receives: Brendan Haywood

Dallas does it to get rid of Haywoods awful contract and pick up an expiring. Haywood barely even plays anymore and they've been looking to get rid of him.

Houston does it because they're able to pick up a young threat down low in exchange for a bench player.

Washington avoids another team controversy (Gilbert Arenas, now Javale McGee-Andray Blatche fight). They get back Brendan Haywood who was putting up close to 20-10 before being traded to Dallas.

So, how about a Jared Jeffries/Jordan Hill deal for Josh Smith and Brooks for Bibby and a future first?

This gives ATL a young center (Hill) and also a good young point. We, of course get Smith to play some D and stretch the D, making Scola available in a deal for a Center.

    You don't understand.

Josh Smith is not a 3. He was terrible playing the three. His shooting, awful. Wild shots and poor selection.

When he was put at the 4 is when he really started to shine. Its kind of like saying you would like to trade for Perkins, but put him at the 4. Not gunna happen.

THe 42% from 3 is impressive. However, the 47% is less impressive because he dunks everything.

Yeah, still needs to clean up his shot selection some more. But he is improving. Instead of just jacking the 3-ball now, he's being selective and taking the 3-ball when it is a high percentage shot for him. Obviously, he's good at the rim. So, he needs to clean up his midrange game some. And he needs to improve his FT shooting some. But he's still a surprisingly efficient scorer.

If there's a separate deal that sends out Luis, I'm for it. Not that I want to lose Scola, but it seems likely at some point anyway, and Smith is a "4". Luis deserves to start. He certainly makes starter's money.

I like how you're zeroing in on Josh Smith. Not such a star that he can't be had, and certainly brings skills that the team lacks.

Don't know if Atlanta would let him go, though.

I'd do that, but I don't think the Clippers would do it. That MIN 1st rounder is top-10 protected in 2011 (a safe bet that MIN holds onto the pick in 2011) and then completely UNPROTECTED in 2012. After Blake Griffin and (maybe) Eric Gordon, that pick is the most prized asset in the Clippers' organization.

Well, we could write in additional protection or we could take their 2011 first rounder with some sort of top 7 protection instead.

I think they'd be more likely to go for a deal involving the Timberwolves or their pick if we took Baron Davis off their team. His contract is bigger than Kaman's, runs a year longer, and the owner flat out hates him.

I'd be open to taking on Baron's big contract if we end up with the Minnesota unprotected or the Clippers 2011 1st rounder.

I don't see Washington wanting to give up Blatche just because two players had a little fight. And, I don't know where you got the stats for Haywood. But he has never been close to 20-10. When he was traded to Dallas last year he was averaging 9.8-10.3

NO to anything that brings Blatche here. DO NOT WANT.

I'm trying to figure out what big man we can get for Scola if we did trade for Josh Smith. Would Cleveland flip us Varejao and a first for Scola?
