How come AB is the best player of the Rockets? a 5'10" SG, whose basketball IQ isn't that higher of the one of McGee...? As I said to DD in other post, Scola is the bes tplayer of the rockets right now....even in the time of such playoffs when the Rockets past the first round ond lost to the Lakers in 7, Morey and Adelman said that Scola was the MVP of such playoffs for the Rockets, not Brooks.... In recent times, Scola had less playing time than Brooks, and scored less, but even then, he had better Efficiency, PEr and +/- stats, and such numbers are far more complete than plain scoring alone.... Brooks is a good scorer, but has low court vision and basketball IQ in general...and he is a serious liability at D....there's no way he's the best player of the Rockets... McGee, with all his limitations, has more market value, being a C with such features....
Brooks has very good court vision, he just chooses to shoot it himself sometimes. The only guys with better court vision on the Rockets are Miller and Ish Smith....then Lowry and Brooks are about equal. I hate reading the Bull**** about AB's court vision, he makes EXCELLENT passes all the danged time......sometimes, when you are as good of a shooter as he is, the prudent move is the SHOT and not the pass.... Brooks generates great shots both in passing and in shooting, and that is his job. DD
I would do it but they have John Wall. only player I think they'd be interested in is Lee or Maybe Miller.
Beach volley maybe is the only sports in which this kind of player can be much more valuable as current MIP in the league
Brooks isn't the best player on the Rockets right now. Scola clearly is... anyone who thinks different is blind.
As much sense as a move of this caliber may make for us, Brooks still has more value than an intriguing yet flawed prospect like McGee. The deal would have to be tweaked before I'd consider it -- and that's assuming Washington would even be interested in dealing for yet another Wall backup in the first place.
HOUSTON TRADES: Courtney Lee, Jordan Hill, Ishmael Smith, Yao's expiring PHILLY TRADES: Andre Iguodala, Spencer Hawes, Andres Nocioni HOUSTON: PG: Aaron Brooks | Kyle Lowry SG: Kevin Martin | Chase Budinger SF: Andre Iguodala | Terrence Williams | Andres Nocioni PF: Luis Scola | Patrick Patterson C: Spencer Hawes | Brad Miller | Chuck Hayes Why: Hawes and Nocioni are familiar with Adelman's system. Hawes is a good fit for the motion offense, can play the high post and can learn from Brad Miller. Iggy gives us the superstar we need and can handle the ball. PHILLY: PG: Jrue Holiday | Ishmael Smith SG: Courtney Lee | Lou Williams | Jodie Meeks SF: Evan Turner | Thaddeus Young | Jason Kapono PF: Elton Brand | Jordan Hill C: Marreese Speights | Tony Battie | Darius Songaila Why: Evan Turner gets to run the show. They invested a high pick in him and it would be a waste to have him play out of role and off the bench. Philly clears a bunch of cap space - they cleared Iggy and Nocioni's contract and have just Brand's to worry about.
Its alright...In DD's world, Brooks is as good as a point guard as Lowry. At least DD admits that Brooks plays inferior defense, although he blames Brooks' defense on our front court at times.
He chooses to shoot ignoring WIDE OPEN TEAMMATES several times, some of such wide open teammates were players so skilled like Yao, Scola, Martin...not only Ariza (the only one who made a public complaint about this issue)..... Only you think that, Scola, being a PF, has FAR BETTER court vision than AB, and not only looking at his assists stats (when you take into account his role)...but also WATCH THE GAMES....how often Scola makes dumb decisions like Brooks? isn't it true that if he's not able to score in the play, he'll pass the ball correctly to the best teammate (even if it doesn't end in an assist)....
I think Philadelphia needs more. They aren't going to trade Iguodala just because they drafted Evan Turner. How is Evan Turner doing? He lost his starting job and has played around ~12 minutes a game for them over their last three. What if he turns out to be a bust? Then you just wasted the #2 overall pick AND gave away your best player. Nocioni's contract expires after next year.. not exactly a huge burden on their cap. If you want Iguodala for cap relief, you're going to have to take Brand from them. EDIT: Something along the lines of Yao/Jeffries/Patterson and cash for Iguodala/Brand could probably get Philadelphia to entertain the idea.
McGee's got that type of talent you can build around. I'd be shocked if he is traded. He's easily the most athletic center in the lg imo. I think per minute he's the best shot blocker in the NBA. I know last year he lead the lg in blk%. Javale could lead the lg in blocks for YEARs. Double-double every night if he played a little more. He rebounds well, blocks shots, and runs like a deer. McGee brings things we really need right now going forward.
He didnt do so well when he had to play off the ball. He needs the ball in his hands and he can if he didnt have to compete with Iggy. Courtney Lee and Jordan Hill arent exactly throw ins either, they fit in nicely with the new look Sixers and can help them look alot like OKC. Anyhow, if they insist on Brand, we can send them Battier and Jeffries back. But before I do that I might throw in a couple of draft picks to sweeten the offer, though I dont think its necessary.
