Do you think Josh Smith could fit with the Rockets and fill our defensive void?

I agree with this.. I guess my concern dates back to the other thread. Is Nene/Martin/Scola/Brooks good enough to compete against the elites? We'd only be able to add players via MLE (if it still exist), the draft (likely a playoff team) or trades.

If we're talking about does it make us a better team -- absolutely, no question. No arguing that.. I'm just trying to see how it fits into the big picture.

    Either way, solid proposal.

    Yeah, that's a distinct possibility.

But with the Nuggets' rumored to be most enamored with a Melo package from New Jersey centered around 19-year-old Derrick Favors and multiple future first round picks, it would be pretty tough to stay competitive with the resulting roster.

And if they can't, time to make an offer for Nene the Hilarious.

In case it wasn't mentioned, Nene is one of the better passing bigs in the game today.

I'd do the Nene deal, but would prefer sending Bud instead of Hill. Bud could easily fill in for 'Melo. Have you seen his rookie stats?

what do you think of this deal. I really like Nicolas Batum, seems like he is a player that can take the next step. But we would have to give up some.

    Hou:
    Batum, Prizbilla, R.Fernandez

    Portland
    Martin, Ish, Bud

Houston gets a good servicable Center, a Future star and a decent SG.

Portland does this because Roy is breaking down, Martin can fill in, Ish would also be able to work better with Roy than Miller and Bud is up and coming

Currently there are rumors that Batum and Prizbilla was offered for Iggy.

We would probably be shooting ourself in the foot this year but I think Batum is a player that has all the makings of a star.

Rockets get: Nene + Chandler + Randolph

Knicks get: Melo + Jeffries + Budinger + Balkman + Birdman

    Nuggets get: Gallinari + Fields + Azubuike + Turiaf + Patterson + Battier + 2012 Knicks' pick + Clippers' (from Rockets) 2nd round pick + cash (3+3)

    Rockets have:
    Nene/Hayes/Miller
    Scola/Hill/Randolph
    Chandler/Williams
    Martin/Lee
    Lowry/Brooks/Ish

Knicks get their man + Jeffries who they've wanted back + Budinger who's no D will fit right in + a C in Birdman when he comes back soon.

Nuggets get to totally reload. Not only would they save millions this year ($3.4 in salary + 3.4 in LT (both prorated for the remainder of the season) + 3 from the Rockets + 3 from the Knicks = 12 million right now) but their long term financial outlook is much brighter. They would only have @$30 million in guaranteed contracts next year allowing them to go after a Max FA if they wanted or just sign players to reasonable contracts. All their bad contracts would be gone with only Billups, Gallinari, Patterson, Harrington, Fields and Lawson as the only guaranteed contracts remaining for 2011. The Nuggets aren't going to get fair market value for Melo but this would give them a good start on reloading with young players, money and picks (and fixing some of their past contract mistakes).

And they still wouldn't have a bad team.
    Turiaf/Ely
    Harrington/KMart/Wiiliams/Patterson
    Gallinari/Battier/Azubuike/Forbes
    Smith/Fields/Afflalo
    Billups/Lawson/Carter

Curry (cut) + cut one other player or wait until 12/27 and send Forbes to NYKs.

    how about Josh Childress?

Childress, who can't get off Alvin Gentry's bench and, according to NBA front-office sources, is already being shopped by the Suns. Shopped without success. ESPN.com

I think he can do some help defensively n play some low post play like wat he did last night against Thunders ..

he is not that bad as the stats show..

Trade Miller or JJ for him

I would love this trade for us. The Rockets and Nuggets FO would be all over it, but I don't believe NY would trade Chandler, Gallinari and Fields. But i could be wrong, and if so somebody needs to tell DM to get this trade dicussion going (if he's not already).

You clearly have not watched any Suns this season.

Childress isn't cracking the rotation for a reason. Moreover, you want to give up one of our Cs for another wing player?

    ....come on....

Since we throw our crazy trade ideas I may as well put in my thoughts

    3way deal Houston, Charlotte, Chicago

    Houston gets: S. Jackson
Chicago gets: J Jefferies, Ish Smith
Charlotte get: Kyle Korver, James Johnson

    our line up
    Brooks/Lowry
    Kmart/Lee/Jackson/Williams
    Jackson/Battier/Bud/Williams
    Scola/Miller/Hayes/Patterson
    Hill/Hayes/Miller

Hey it worked in the trade machine and on the video game why not in real life!?

because chicago is not giving up their SG for an expiring contract and our 3rd string PG when they have Rose.

JaVale McGee for Aaron Brooks anyone?

If attainable, this might be worth looking into.
