Do you think Josh Smith could fit with the Rockets and fill our defensive void?

Please stop posting the trades where Memphis only gets back Hayes. I saw where you put this proposal in another thread as well. They are not going to deal Mayo and get back Hayes. I know these trade proposals are mostly for fun, but that's just too unrealistic for me.

The new rumor is Philly wants Brand to go with Iggy. This is actually and old rumor but it is floating around once more and makes sense. I have felt for a while the best thing Philly could do is find someone willing to take on Brand with Iggy. However, there are NO teams that are going to be willing to do that unless Philly gives up a potential lottery pick. That is a lot of salary to take on.

IF....the Rockets decided to move Yao as an expiring, this is a potential deal that would make some sense, for both teams, especially if there is a lockout in 2011-12. Philly could come back with a clean slate in 2012. We send them Yao and Jared for Brand and Iggy. They buy out Yao and he re-signs with us for the minimum. We then re-sign Yao with the new MLE available after the new CBA. We come back with Brand's expiring contract to use as trade bait in 2012 to another team wanting to shed salary. And we've now got the Knicks picks plus Philly's pick plus the rest of our roster as further trade bait to improve the current club.

Here, I fixed this for you. Equally as realistic, but a better outcome.

Do you live in Indiana? I always see your trade proposals involving random Pacers players.

As for the trade, I think Jeff Foster is a decent player. I just don't see why we would need him. I don't think he's better than Yao, Scola, or Miller and he's probably on par with Hayes and Hill.

Brands contract is really ugly. And you can't pay Scola/Yao/Brand/Miller

So, you have to figure you are gonna lose Scola, and you still haven't gotten paid for taking Brand and even AI and their contracts to an extent. So....

Yao+Jeffries+Budinger+Hayes+Taylor+filler for AI/Brand/ and next years unprotected pick.

    Yao/Miller/Hill
    Brand/Hill/Patterson
    AI/Battier
    Martin/Lee
    Brooks/Lowry/Smith

Is pretty strong and Philly gets to start over. I doubt they would just give us next years pick but that is what it would take to swallow all that payroll.

You only have to trade Yao, Jeffries and Bud, maybe a pick for Iguodala and Brand. Asking for a pick in return is too much in my opinion.

Naw, you just wait till the 15th where Lowry and Scola and Miller become tradable. You get Brand, then you have to trade Scola and try to get someone like Granger. (imagine having Martin coming off the bench).

I dont see Yao being traded for the the likes of those two anyway Also, if it did happen, the pick would be for Yaos financial benefits.

Brand has an insanely negative value. In the trade I threw out, Philly gets young talentend role player types and massive cap. I don't think they would give up a first.... But paying Yao, Jeffries, Bud and a first for AI/Brand would be bad for us IMO.

We should trade for tmac again, a very risky move but it could potentially turn into a steal, the rockets could really use a facilitator like tmac down the road

Consider this. Philly almost agreed to a trade last year getting rid of Brand and Iggy for the #2 pick (Evan Turner). Now, do you think they would take that trade today after seeing Turner in action for 20 games or so?

No thanks,he has burnt his bridges here. We do need a facilitator, but how far can we go with him? Not much in my opinion.

    Great point.

That really illustrates how caught up in draft pick lust teams get.

I like Brand, and he's playing very well right now. Could help us a lot defensively.

We could get Iggy+Brand without giving Yao by using a 3rd team and the Ariza trade exception.

    6 TE (to a 3rd team) + Scola + Jeffries + Hayes + Chase

    Yao - Miller
    Brand - Hill/Patterson
    Iguodala - Battier
    Martin - Lee
    Brooks - Lowry

If he really is available, the player the Rockets should be after is not Melo or Iggy. That player is O.J. Mayo. He would give us a tall, quick, offensive/defensive PG who can match up with the Roses and Walls and Pauls of the NBA.
