In this scenario, if I'm Philadelphia, I EXPECT picks to be included.. not sending them out. They're giving away Iguodala to get rid of Brand and to obtain Jordan Hill.. that's not enough IMO. Not to mention, Evan Turner is looking like anything but their future right now. Dealing two of their better guys and swapping to a lower pick would be adding insult to injury for their fan base.
Possibly. But if that's so then no deal. They are being done a favor with the salary dump, a huge favor. They aren't winning and they are paying big money to Iggy and Brand to not compete. They need to move both guys out. This may be the only opportunity to come along to do so. If they want to keep one or both of them around rather than move them out just because they expect to get a pick back, then if I were Morey, I'd just let them sit there and try to make another deal with someone else that wants a salary dump and rebuild. Someone will come to the table on that. They wouldn't be losing a pick, just moving down in the draft order a little bit, and picking up Hill and Budinger in the process. They key to the whole deal is will Sacramento be satisfied with Brooks and Scola for Cousins. I would think it would be very tempting for them. I would think Denver would jump if they could get both Iggy, a young lottery drafted big (Cousins), and an additional lottery pick for this upcoming season for Melo.
I like just about every other part of the deal except for Philadelphia's side. Rocket fans seem to be locked into this "we're doing you a favor by taking two of your best guys" mentality; I don't think Philadelphia looks at it that way. Hypothetically, if (Brand-like healthy) Yao's current deal extended another three years... would you be willing to trade Yao & Kevin Martin for expiring contracts and Budinger/Hill type talents? And on top of that have to swap down to a lower draft pick just to get their contracts off the books? Personally, I would expect a lot more.. a deal like that would feel like we're giving away two of our better players for average talent and cap space. This summer was the most hyped FA summer.. EVER.. and we saw how difficult it is to land that true superstar. A lot of teams were left out in the cold. I'd prefer to take my chances in the draft than pinning my hopes that 1) a superstar will roll the dice and opt for FA; 2) he chooses to sign here. BTW -- did anyone else JUST notice that Josh Smith is in the poll? I don't think I ever saw this before.. hopefully it's new and Clutch's subtle way of telling us of the big move.
FIXED This 3 team trade would change the face of the team for a very long time... Rockets get: G. Wallace (Bobcats) A. Igudala (76'ers) Bobcats get: Brooks (Rockets) Jefferies (Rockets) 2012 1st (HOU) 76'ers get: Battier (Rockets) J. Taylor (Rockets) P. Patterson (Rockets) 2011 1st (NY) 2011 2nd (HOU) I would throw in C-Bud to the Bobcats if necessary. With him on the team with Wallace and Iggy, there will be a minute’s problem at the SF position. I would rather package him in another deal to try to find a replacement for YAO if the team is open to moving him or another PG. From all that I'm reading about teams out there and what they are in need of and what they want, I think this could work. Trade machine also approves without the addition of Draft Picks. This year's draft is going to be very thin regarding an "impact" level talent. So i would throw in 2nd rd picks if necessary. The Rockets get 2 second tier talents and significantly increase defensively, rebounding, athletically, and toughness goes through the roof. Wallace gives you spacing with his 3pt shot and Iggy gives you slashing and activity. Essentially you are getting Wallace & Iggy for Brooks, Battier, Jefferies, NY's 1st, and HOU's 1st (that is looking like more of an asset since we are losing early). I think that a pretty fair and upgrading trade. The Bobcats get the PG in Brooks that they want plus the expiring contract of Jefferies to help get them under the tax and back active in free agency next summer. They would also receive our 1st draft pick to sweeten up the deal and give them another opportunity at young talent. I don’t see why they wouldn't do it, especially with Jackson scoring for them like he does. The 76'ers get a serviceable veteran leader that they don’t have in Battier that also has a decent expiring contract. This will significantly help them and should be a golden opportunity to get Iggy's contract off their books since they will be officially rebuilding. Throwing in Patterson and Taylor will give them more young talent to evaluate or use for their rebuilding process. Adding in NY's 1st rd pick will give them an opportunity to get another decent/serviceable talent through the draft. Rockets Roster: Lowry / Ish Martin / Lee Wallace / Iggy / Budinger Scola / Hill / Hayes / (and hopefully resign Landry after season) Yao / Miller Starting Lineup (We must play small and fast to be successful) Lowry Martin Iggy (creates a matchup problem for some 3's) Wallace (creates a matchup problem at the 4 spot) Scola (Definately earned it over YAO & will be a matchup problem @ 5) Bench Group Ish Lee Budinger Hill or Landry (if he comes back) Miller or Hill
One small issue: we don't have NY's 2011 1st.. we have the option to swap picks with them. And since we can't trade picks in consecutive years, we'd either have to deal: Hou 2012 1st & NY 2012 1st or Hou 2011 1st & NY 2012 1st
They can actually trade Hou '11 and Hou '12. As long as they have a 1st round pick, it doesn't matter whose pick it is
Bobcats don't do this. For what it would take to actually acquire both Iggy and wallace, do you really want coming off the bench. With that considered, I doubt Houston does this either.
I have a complete roster shakeover that if possible would definitely fill every need/void/desire... Starters: Bench: Lowry Brooks/Smith Iggy Taylor Anthony Lee Brand Patterson Nene Miller Proposed trade (either as one or separate trades): Houston gets Iggy, Melo, Brand, and Nene Philly gets Battier, JJ, Hill, C-Bud, Chuck, our knicks 2012 1st rd pick Denver gets Yao, Martin, and our right to switch with nyc's 2011 1st rd pick Sounds incredibly crazy and unlikely for obvious reasons but wouldnt it be nice??? http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2gy4fy4
I would rather keep Lowery than Brooks. Brooks can get to reckless and is not a very good distributor. Also feel like he has gotten about as good as he will, so the time to move him is now, IMO.
What about this trade? It's a little far fetched but if the rockets throw in what ever drft picks that other teams ask for then getting Iggy, Wallace, and Landry should totally reset this team to greatness. I read somone else's post about trading Yao for Nene...I'm for it but the Nuggets would never do it. I hope we resign Yao but for no more than the MLE or 2 yr vets minimum (wishful thinking I know) And about having Iggy, Wallace, and Martin on the same team... Simple either start them all or sit the one with the most humility. Rotation will be: (The parts are interchangable especially w/ 2-way players) Lowry - Ish Martin - Lee Iggy - Wallace/Lee Wallace - Hill/Landry Scola - Yao/Miller http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=26pco9t
Chase Budinger+ Patrick Patterson+Jermaine Taylor+Shane Battier+Jared Jeffries other cap filler+2012 firste rounder for Josh Smith and Marvin WIlliams. Yao/Miller/Hill Scola/Smith/Hill Smith/Williams/Lee Martin/Lee Brooks/Lowry/Ish
I read on espn insider that the grizz may look into moving o.j. mayo and zach randolph due to financial issues. Try this trade out and tell me what you think. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2crnjrt Ultimately we end up with + Melo and J.R. Smith - Brooks, Battier, JJ, Hill, PPat and Bud THINK Lowry/I. Smith Martin/J.R. Smith/Taylor Anthony/Lee Scola/Hayes Yao/Miller
With the uncertainty of the Hornets franchise the possibility of Chris Paul being traded now becomes more of a reality, what kind of package would it take, and do the Rockets have the assets to acquire CP3?
Lineup: PG: Lowry/Udrih/Smith SG: Martin/Lee SF: Iguodala/Nocioni PF: Scola/Landry C: Yao/Miller/Hill I'd then draft the best PG on the board this summer.
How do you include a trade exception onto a trade on nba trade machine??? And how do you post the actual page on your post as opposed to just adding the copy of the shortcut? THANKS
sign me up, we need a new cornerstone and if it has to be a hot headed center with attitude its fine by me. Because melo and any other difference maker isnt coming for a looong time

Wow...seriously? ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Morey is good, but not that good. Ever seen the "Random Trade Idea Thread?" Or even the ones that have to do with Carmelo?
