Do you think Josh Smith could fit with the Rockets and fill our defensive void?

Morey did say the Rox would be a top 10 defensive team or heads would role, this would be a good start in that direction.

go get OJ Mayo and Wilson Chandler

    Brooks/Lowry
    Mayo/Lee
    Chandler/Budinger
    Scola/Hill
    Yao/Miller

solid 10 man rotation if Yao cant go start Miller and shorten the rotation

Im guessing you haven't seen to much of Randolph, he's terrible. Turiaf has been really solid off the bench for the Knicks providing some solid D and shotblocking.

I'd rather do Brooks and Chase for Iggy.

    Something will happen.

A look at players Rockets were evaluating.

DeMarcus Cousins - Tension going on between him and Kings.
Kevin Love - Not as untouchable as many think.
Anthony Randolph - Not as good as many though this season.
Anderson Varejao - Will only be moved if Cleveland keeps losing.
Andre Iguodala - Predicts he'll be traded.
Chris Bosh - Bolted to Miami.
Ricky Rubio - Will start for the T-wolves basically untouchable.
Caron Butler - Is a Maverick, but a FA after this year.
Kevin Martin - Now a Rocket.

Of all these players what do they have in common?

They are either the final piece to a championship puzzle OR are a franchise player to rebuild around.

That is the 2 most obvious directions imo.

Pretty easy really. When you have guys who can play multiple position, rotation is the easy part.

    Brooks/lowry/ish
    Iggy/lee
    Randolph/iggy
    Scola/hill/randolph
    Yao/hill/turiaf/miller

What i really like is the versitility, youth, size, and upside. The coach could mix and match, but the players could still get minutes. Bring in lee, slide iggy, slide randolph, hill at center. Bring in lowry and the finishers are still on the floor with him. At the end of the year, resign yao, trade scola only if hill is making the proper strides and the compensation is right. Like I said, everyone thinks its about getting in the top 3 or so,but i think finding the next jermaine o'neal on someones bench is probably better or easier. I really think Randolph is a josh smith/ak-47 type of talent. He still needs nurturing, but he is the kind of talent worth seasoning and developing to me. I think it about surrounding Yao with long, athletic, versitile players right now. Lets face it, if he can walk, he will be resigned.

I've seen him play from highschool to college to pros. I watched him play very well in gsw when he was given good minutes. I've seen him struggle this year partly because of his ankle and partly because of the inconsistent minutes from d'antoni. The guy is 21-22 that needs some maturing, buthis upside is so enormous, i think he's worth the risk. He's on a rookie contract for possibly 2 more years. If the light doesnt come on, you let him walk. I will tell you this, the light has come on for josh after 4 yrs and you see the kind of player he is. Isnt shane and taylor worth that kind of player?

Poor 3-point shooting team. I don't know if SF is a natural position for Randolph, but then I know I haven't seen him play as much as you.

Sign me up which is why i don't think it'll ever happen. They could use Randolph guys still raw and has what the rockets need length and size and can really move his feet well.

Randolph just has awful BBIQ, he just does, and IMO that's something you can't teach. If you mean trade Shane and Taylor for him then of course you do that, I would not trade a first round pick for him however.

Randolph is overrated on this board. No thanks. If getting Iggy, I would rather see him and Martin play together.

    Trade 1: Brooks + Taylor + NYK 2012 = Cousins

    Trade 2: Battier + Jeffries + Bud = Iggy

    Trade 3: Martin + HOU 2012 = Mayo + Thabeet

    or

    Martin + HOU 2012 = Jeff Green + Harden

    Rockets get: Iggy and Brand

Philly gets: Scola, fillers to make money work.

    Yao
    Brand
    Iggy
    Martin
    Lowry

Bring Brooks off the bench to play the "Jason Terry" role to provide instant offense.

    Three Team Scenario:

    Hou: Elton Brand, Kenyon Martin (exp), Philly's 2011 1st, Denver's 2011 1st.

Philly: Carmelo Anthony, Luis Scola, Kyle Lowry, Brad Miller

Den: Yao Ming (exp), Andre Iguodala

Yao gets baught out to return to Houston (maybe)

Keep Jeffries/Battier/Hayes/Brooks and add Martin who all expire.

Sign Marc Gasol and/or Jeff Green

    Match Aaron Brooks
    Sign Yao to the MLE

Draft Kyrie Irving and Perry Jones

    Yao / Gasol / Hill
    Brand / Jones / Hill
    Green / Budinger
    Martin / Lee / Taylor
    Irving / Brooks

Make Brooks the 6th man. Have Jones/Irving and Gasol/Hill to rebuild around.
Still have an extra draft pick from Denver who will start to suck the 2nd half of the year without Carmelo. This is a blow it up scenario of course.

Sign me up... except, i would like to see...

    Gasol/Yao
    Brand/Hill
    Carmelo/Budinger
    Iggy/Lee
    Lowry/Brooks

Trade away Ish, Martin, Scola, Hayes, Battier, Jeffries, Taylor, and hell.. if you can put this sort of team together, trade away the NY picks if necessary! No needed for rookies if Melo and Gasol can agree to an extensions, Iggy and Brand signed for the next 3 years, extend Brooks, extend Yao to vet minimum.

Brooks and Yao off the bench to provide instant offensive punch.

That lineup would be capable of becoming a top 5 defensive, top 5 offensive, and top 5 rebounding (offensive and defensive) team in the NBA.

    *sigh*... wishful thinking... lol

no , he is a PF all the way.........couldnt keep up with a typical SF, unless he is Defending a player like R. Lewis (who would destroy him)...........

Sounds good............then you can go sign Landry next year and Draft K.Walker (pg/Uconn=Stud)....and trade Brooks for Picks/Player(hopefully a wing or another big)...........IT IS WRITTEN.
