Agreed. At some point I would expect that Dalembert gets bought out by Sacramento and becomes available to potential playoff teams for league minimum. Just something to think about. There's your Deke.
I don't know about that with the way Cousins is playing. What we need is a Deke to come in as a backup, and another quality center to, if you will, be half of a Yao.
With Splitter, Kleiza and Childress now in the NBA Sergio Llull moves up to #3 in Draftexpress' NBA rights held rankings. http://www.draftexpress.com/rankings/NBA-Rights-Held/ Just thought that was interesting.
Complete make over to get a younger and more athletic squad Trade 1 Josh Smith + Marvin Williams for Kevin Martin + Jordan Hill + Jeffries + Chase Trade 2 Carmelo for Luis Scola + Shane Battier + Both NY Picks Yao/Miller Smith/Hayes/Patterson Anthony/Williams Lee/Taylor Brooks/Lowry/Ish
Your losing all your athleticism by keeping Yao on the team. And I don't see any reason the Hawks would trade Smith for that offer.
With Oden out for the season and Roy looking like he'll be a shell of his former self soon the Blazers might just blow it up. Would you still do a win now trade and trade for say ... Marcus Camby? Camby is 36 and owed around $21mil over the next two years. Would you trade Hill (and Jeffries) for Camby? Or would you rather develop Hill?
Well that the thing with Hill. He has all the tools, but some guys just don't have the fire or desire to be great. I think it's fair to say Hill has looked anywhere from horrible to great. He's an intriguing prospect, but there also are major question marks.
If we decide that its time to rebuild I would call up Detroit and offer them Scola for filler + thier unprotected 2011 #1. Using that pick and the higher of ours/NY picks we can draft a new core, if this draft actually has anyone worth drafting, that is. I would let Shane, Yao, Jeffries all expire and dump all the free cap room into Marc Gasol. Move forward with this core: Brooks / Lowry Martin / Lee Budinger Hill / Patterson Gasol / Hill Toss in our 2 really good draft picks and we have a solid rebuilding group going forward. The key however, is to get a franchise player somewhere in the draft.
That would be a good idea. Can't see Detroit cutting lose with their pick though. If they was winning then maybe.
You're right, you may have to take on Rips contract as the filler. They may not take it, but I know for a fact they are desperately seeking a post presence.
I don't know about you, but a four team deal that sends Zack Randolph to Detroit for Monroe + Fillers (Iggy?) (Brand?) and Picks. Maybe Gasol? etc involved. The latest rumor had Randolph going to Detroit next season. Maybe Yao gets traded and baught out some how who knows. The reason i pick Detroit and Philly is because they are lottery bound.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2a6dnpe Yao Ming gets baught out and returns to Houston. We get both Phillys and Detroits first round picks. Battier goes where he wants. Randolph goes where he wants. So we have three potential first round picks. But we have to take on Brand and Hamilton and the expiring of Prince, but i feel like they can still produce. We would have a log jam at SG Hamilton/Martin/Lee/Taylor.
thats a lot to bet on then. Especially since they gave up Pau for him. We're gonna try to be the Knicks now, lol. Lose yo money for a FA! tisk tisk
I find myself wondering if we traded Battier, Jeffries, Budinger, Taylor, and our draft pick for Iguodala and Kapono, and we renounced Yao, how much money would we have to spend this summer? Enough to afford Marc Gasol?
