Na, just tell him to keep tossing up bricks until we get this deal cleared. Nobody wants a Black Joe Johnson who can't shoot.

That's premature, as I see it, especially since a source close to Cousins tells FanHouse that these tales of controversy inspired three top-tier teams to inquire about his availability in recent days rather than feel vindicated for their supposed fear. The former Kentucky big man who was taken fifth in the June draft and who has a reputation for volatility did indeed receive a $5,000 fine approximately a month ago, when -- as sources close to the team told FanHouse -- he essentially barked too loud and too unprofessionally at the team's strength coach, Daniel Shapiro, over a matter of personal fitness. The sources say this came just days after the team's patience level had already been tested, as Cousins and assistant coach Truck Robinson -- the former player whose charge is to work with the team's big men -- had a loud, pride-filled and brief disagreement during practice. The more recent and relevant development came on Wednesday night, when Cousins' frustrations reached a new high at halftime of the Kings' home game against Minnesota. FanHouse.com
Like we all said during the draft, Sac would not be able to handle Cousins. The question is, can the Rockets?

Would Brooks + Hill + NY pick for Cousins make sense?

    <SAC>
Brooks with his range and ability to work off the ball seems like a perfect partner to Evans in the back court. Hill is an athletic big that can back up both PF/C positions this year and has room to grow. The NY pick is just the cherry on top.

    <HOU>
We take the gamble that Cousins is the real deal and that he can be reformed on our team. His college efficiency stats were eye-popping and his size/length fills a desperate need with Yao's uncertainty. We would instantly be a better rebounding and defensive team with him on the floor. Losing Brooks is not that big of a hit if we can use the rest of our assets to upgrade the SF position.

The last thing that we need is an immature talent like him. He needs to change his attitude.

I really don't want to give up Hill, I would prefer to give up Patterson and Taylor and also the 2012 NY pick for Cousins. Making it look something like this:
    .............
    Aaron Brooks
    Patrick Patterson
    Jermaine Taylor
    2012 NY pick

    For

    DeMarcus Cousins

    .............
The reason I wouldn't want to give up Hill, is that he would be the perfect compliment to Demarcus Cousins inside the paint. A tall, athletic PF that can knock down the mid-range jump shot, giving space for Cousins to work in the post.

Yes his immature, but all he really needs is veteran leadership, and we have an abundance in that department ranging from Shane to Chuck and even Scola. He also needs to learn how to defend in the post without fouling, and lucky for us we have one of the best post defenders in the league in Chuck Hayes .

All in all, I think we have the best environment to develop this kid into the potential superstar he can be!

I like Cousins and Brooks/Patterson/Taylor/NY pick might get it done. And i agree 100% about keeping Hill if we land Cousins they could be here for a long time and continue to grow together. We all know Morey was after him in the draft and knowing Morey he always gets who he's been after.

I was reading Realgm and it said a number of teams have called Sac town about Cousins. I bet Rockets were one of those teams. Love and Cousins i think are the two players Morey is after hard.

I can name a hand full of players that would strengthen the Rockets most glaring weaknesses. They need an Enforcer and a Closer and more 2-way players. They need to focus on players with more then just one demention, who can play both sides of the court. Teams now just attack the basket a lot and score too much in the paint.

And why is that a BAD thing?

Truth be told, there are only a small handful of players that are TRULY ready to play coming out of the draft. Most of the ROY candidates just put up good numbers on bad teams (except for the truly great ones, like Duncan or Shaq). Most "NBA-ready" rookies are merely role players.

And who would you rather play Patterson over RIGHT NOW?

Luis Scola? No way. He's playing like an All-Star.
Chuck Hayes? Even if Patterson's ready, there's no way his D can stack up to Chuck's.
Jordan Hill? While I like Patterson's long-term prospects better, Hill has an extra year under his belt.
Jared Jeffries? Probably, yeah. But at this point, neither of them are getting much run, so what's the point?

Assuming that it's true that players get better by playing, and given that the Rockets are one of the few teams that completely run all basketball operations of their D-League affiliate, then OBJECTIVELY SPEAKING, sending Patterson down to the Vipers is in the best interests of Patterson and the Rockets.

I just don't get those who have a problem with this move.

I agree with you yet in my opinion placing rockets players on the vipers is completely pointless...look at what happened with Harris and Taylor, the two were superstars in the D-League yet the Rockets have made zero use of both their talents. The rockets as an organization are more interested in bigger name athletes even if they are worse overall players. My points is, Morey likes to develop hidden gems to trade for bigger name pros and if no team bites on them, he releases them and wastes away their talents.

What about this 4 team deal with both picks NY going back to them. I can envision Gallinari having a similar career as Peja in this system. Okafor/Randolph basically strengthens a glaring need in our interior defense with length/quickness/ AND size. Iggy basically plays off/on the ball defense and brings the ball up and changes the dynamics of our system on both ends.

    Yao / Miller / Okafor
    Scola / Okafor / Randolph
    Iggy / Gallinari
    Martin / Lee / Lowry
    Lowry / Smith

The question is are both picks and our TE from Ariza deal worth Randolph/Gallinari ??

Honestly I think we should keep going after Carmelo. Let's face it the thing that we struggle the most with is closing games. Although Aaron Brooks is a great player, I feel he is not the best fit for out team. If we can package a trade including Brooks + Hill + draft picks we may be able to land Carmelo. I don't think we should give away Martin cause he plays really well off the ball. We can have Yao/Miller at the 5, Scola/Hayes at the 4, Carmelo/Chase at the 3, Martin/Lee at the 2, and Lowry/Smith at the 1. Let me know what you guys think.

    Yao/Miller
    Scola/Hayes
    Carmelo/Budinger
    Martin/Lee
    Lowry/Smith

Let me know what you guys think.

Denver already has Billups and Ty Lawson at point guard. Why would they want Brooks?

Nene would be a nice fit. Gives us length and quickness/athleticism in our front-court. This team needs to get longer/quicker/bigger in the paint imo. We also need a point-guard who can defend the bigger point guards and plays defense like Westbrook. Bottom line is this team gives up to many easy baskets inside. A rotation of Yao/Scola/Nene/Okafor would be nice imo.

Watch the game and notice how many easy baskets we give up in the paint. Sorry, but Chuck is to small AND Miller is not known for defense. And Yao only plays half the time. They need size/length/athleticism and quickness up front. Brooks/Martin and Budinger are kinda soft defensively for the post/perimeter they also need Iggy/Wallace type defenders.

IMO only Yao/Scola/Lee/Lowry/Hill/Martin are keepers and everybody else like Miller/Brooks/Budinger/Hayes/Taylor/Patterson/Battier/Jeffries is tradeable imo. The first set of guys bring more to the table (like get to the line) or can score or play defense, but that second group of players are nothing good enough to compensate their weaknesses from their strengths. They are one dementional or are easy enough to replace.

I agree man, Brooks is definitely tradeable. I would try to keep Hill if we give up Brooks just cause future potential. Martin is definitely a keeper along with Scola, Lowry, Yao, Miller, and Lee. One player I can't stand is Jared Jeffries. Smith is a great player but has been a no show since the season has started, I hope he can shake off those nerves.
