I would live to have smith. But not at sf. And smith would want to start but Scola has earned that role and is proving it this year with the numbers he is putting up. So I do not think we will get smith.
If we were to get him in a trade a couple that would work would be: Battier + Jeffries for Josh Smith or Battier + Hayes + Patterson for Josh Smith
just saying, josh smith, 25 is only going to get better luis scola, 30, is most likely not going to get better brooks obviously outweighs teague, so i guess give us a couple of picks. or something, someone else. but it would boost us defensively, like a lot. like #1 defense sick.
its the gain through loss thing i had mentioned. this team has way to much talent, which is causing us to lose games, as we have no EXACT rotation. so by giving up two role players, we get smith, which is without a doubt only going to get better, he is only 25, and has crazy good defense. he would fit great with our offense as well, as we are doing the whole run n gun thing now. dunks and inside presence, something we desperately need. his addition would also imo, make us a top 5 defensive team. battier, ming, dampier, hayes, lowry, and smith. get outta here. and let's not forget guys, scola isnt getting any younger, the man is 30, and is playing a lot of minutes, i love him, but come on, lets be real, how long can he keep this up for. we are asking to much from him. brooks is the key here, i think teague is a pretty good prospect, we'd obviously start lowry, and would play teague, a little or not much, but i think he has great potential, nice defense, good offense. he has what it takes to be an all star. unless you want mike bibby, veteran, all offense, like brooks, which eh, im not too excited about. and picks of course would be what makes us do it, it cant be a trade with out picks, since we are giving up the almighty brooks.... http://www.hoopdata.com/blogengine/...-Teague-Be.aspx
If Smith could play the SF (meaning Battman is part of the trade), this could be almost as good as a Melo trade. But I'm sure they're gonna want more than what we're willing to give up.
The guy clearly brings a lot to the table. But for all his otherworldly talents and intangibles, he's a first rate CHUCKER.
This. Guys, there is a difference between playing fantasy basketball online and running an NBA team. Josh Smith is not a smart player. He has proven that he makes his team worse when he plays the SF position. He takes bad shots. He fancies himself a good 3-point shooter, which he is not. His best (and only real) position is at PF. The Rockets already have a BETTER power forward right now in Luis Scola, who is locked up on a (what now appears to be) pretty reasonable contract making less money ($7.8M this season; $8.6M in 2011-12, $9.4M in 2012-13, $10.2M in 2013-14 and only a partial guaranteed year after that) than Smith is owed ($11.7M this season, $12.5M in 2011-12 and $13.3M in 2012-13). I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Do. Not. Want.
ok, but think about it, its acttually a pretty good trade once you add picks coming from them. teague has better defense than brooks, and last year showed signs of leadership when given the chance. scola is better than smith, but for how long, 1 year? smith is only 25, scola 30. smith will make our defense the #1 defense in the league, without a doubt in my mind,
say we do trade for him like i say lowry/teague martin/lee battier/budinger smith/hill/hayes yao/miller/dampier who in this lineup lack defense? martin and miller, which martin obviously makes up for, and miller, well we need a 7 footer
I did think about it, you're the one who still hasnt taken the time to think about it. Both scola and Smith have pretty much peaked. Our defense wouldn't be #1 and our offense would fall to one of the worst.
+1000 Seems like a lot of guys only watch highlights. Josh Smith is a power forward and power forward only. The last time he played the 3 was somewhere around 06/07. He also has no outside game whatsoever.
