Again, playing 4 on 5 allows them to cover all of them and force Kyle to shoot....I like him but there is a reason he is a career backup. If Kyle could get a good midrange shot, he would be a starter for sure, he is a very good player, just not starter level on a good team. DD
Do we really need to repost the video of Lowry running through the paint 3 plus times vs the Lakers? Lowry will not only make it happen but his defense and penetration/foul drawing will make up if not bypass the missing of Brooks 40 percent. Guaranteed.
Yea, until the playoffs when the refs all of a sudden stop blowing the whistle for gimmick fouls and Lowry becomes useless. 75% of his offensive usefullness comes from the refs blowing the whistle. Thats not good enough for the playoffs.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2795 We need a solid defender at the three spot with Battier declining and with Budinger's lack of defense. How about Martell Webster?
No, if he starts, EVERYTHING changes. Teams won't realize he is a bad shooter unless he's starting. It's like a secret. Teams won't scout bench players, but will scout starters. Kyle will play completely different as a starter, shooting 3s and not drawing fouls. Kye Lowry can't be good unless he comes in anytime AFTER the tipoff.
You're missing the point. We need players that can get shots off without having to rely on some outside influence, ie the whistle blowing, someone creating for them, or getting the ball in a certain spot. AB is the only one on the team who can do that. (maybe Lee as well, we shall see)
What you are referring to is creating your own shot. AB may be the best on the team for that. Yao and KMart are also good. But your point about fouls is still wrong, being able to draw fouls is super valuable in the playoffs.
It is super valuable, as an added weapon to an existing arsenal, but not as the only thing you can do offensively, which is what Lowry does. He barrells into the lane and into a defender, flings up the ball and looks to get a call, not make a shot. With that gimmick, you are relying on outside influences to score points. You cannot rely on outside influences to be successful in the playoffs.
Houston Trades: Courtney Lee, Shane Battier, Jordan Hill, Jared Jeffries Detroit Trades: Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, Pistons' 2011 2nd Round Pick Watching Hamilton and Prince this off-season, they have really impressed me. They can really help out this team, and lets face it, we all know Battier just hasn't been the same as he was 2 seasons ago when he had that defensive grit and hitting those corner threes consistently. Now he is shooting brick after brick and his defense is above average at best. Once Brad Miller returns from injury, it will be tough for Hayes or Patterson to get any valuable playing time. This is a perfect time to trade Jordan Hill while his stock his high, sources say Pistons were targeting Jordan Hill before Houston got him. This trade allows Hayes and Patterson to get the playing time they deserve. Pistons' get valuable expiring contracts in Jeffries and Battier. Also get promising young talent in Jordan Hill and Jermaine Taylor. Houston Projected Line Up: Brooks/ Lowry/ Smith Martin/ Hamilton Prince/ Budinger Scola/ Hayes/ Patterson Yao/ Miller/ Hayes Top 4 in Western Conference guaranteed.
Played in all 6 games. 8 minutes on 32% shooting with 0.5 assists per game. Much much worse as a player than Lowry in his first playoff series with Rockets.
Honestly, too small a sample size for both. They will both end up at about their regular season averages in the playoffs.
