I think we can put the, "are european/FIBA players capable of playing in the NBA" chatter to bed. While there are some things to be considered, plenty of these international guys are currently dominating. This includes, who I believe should have been the finals MVP, Pau Gasol (and little brother Marc is no slouch either). Ricky has accomplished all of those awards before the age of 20. The luck you are referring to was against the best players the NBA has to offer. At that level of competition, luck is a pretty irrelevant factor. Being only 19yrs. of age, there seems to be a limitless possibility with this kid. Hence his allure and perhaps the willingness for management to trade high on a PG that may never crack the top 10 for a kid who has shown no signs of a ceiling. Besides, his nickname is La Pistola. How awesome is that?
well one thing is for sure, If he did come here by some chance and becomes pretty good, we'd have 2 national icons (not inc Scola because quite frankly I think even at this point Rubios name is bigger then his) making the Rockets a strong market. Bring in Llull just to have him around Rubio then then talk about Spain support.
Wolves get: Jeffries Hill Taylor ($4.8 mil. TE for Martell Webster) Phillie gets: Battier Bud Brooks Harris Johnson Hou 2012 pick Houston gets: Iguodala Love Webster Williams Line-up: Lowry/Williams/Ish Martin/Lee Iguodala/Webster Scola/Love/Patman Yao/Miller/Hayes Sorry for the absence!
Translation of joesr: You suck! Why would Minny trade away their franchise player (= Love) for scrubs (= Hill/Jeffries/Taylor)? When Kahn is as stupid as you are, I'll buy you a beer!
^ AND they have to kick in Webster - the guy they just traded their 2010 1st round pick for to get those prizes we are sending them.
Didn't know you felt so strongly about a random trade thread, but to answer your question, earlier in the offseason there was some concern as to wheteher there would be enough PT with Pechovic coming in. Love is still unsure as to whether he will be a Timberwolf or not when the season starts.
1. Who are they clearing cap room for? Look at the contract they just handed Darko 2. Youth? Kevin Love is about to be 22 yrs old. 3. Hill? The timberwolves would pray jordan hill develops into half of K. Love. Makes absolutely no sense for the Wolves, even with Kahn at the helm.
Okay, here goes another variation of (generally) the same trade idea I've posted before: Houston gets: Carmelo Anthony Denver gets: Chase Budinger, Jordan Hill, Chuck Hayes, Mike Harris, Alexander Johnson, 2011 HOU 1st round pick, 2012 HOU 1st round pick Sacramento gets: Jared Jeffries, 2011 HOU 2nd round pick, $6 million cash ($3 million from HOU, $3 million from DEN) Why Houston does it: Carmelo. Why Denver does it: The Nuggets get two nice young players in Budinger and Hill. They get a solid post defender in Hayes. They get two potential lottery picks (we'll see if Houston makes the 2012 pick the higher of their two picks). Plus, they get a "free look" at Harris and Johnson before deciding whether to waive their non-guaranteed contracts. Perhaps most importantly, even after the $3 million payout to Sacramento, the Nuggets net over $20 million in savings next year with this trade. Why Sacramento does it: For the "trouble" of absorbing Jared Jeffries into their (league-most) available cap room, Sacramento gets back enough cash to nearly cover Jeffries's entire salary (maybe better, after accounting for the time value of money), plus the Rockets' 2011 second rounder (the higher of their or the Clippers'). With so much cap room and few prospects to fill it out during next season (they'll still have all that room next summer), the Kings can afford to make this deal. Plus, Jeffries gives the Kings a solid defensive frontcourt player. This moves involves a large investment from Les Alexander, but I think if Denver can come around to it, it should be doable by all parties. Just a thought.
Bima, who gets the trade exception from Sacramento in that scenario? I guess it should belong to Houston.. but could that also go to the Nuggets? Or does it has to go to Houston?
Do you think we would have to take on one of Denver's bad contracts like Anderson or unwanted goods like JR Smith?
