As a general premise, I don't think that Jordan Hill + expiring contracts is going to be enough to net Andre Iguodala. According to the Sixers insider who posts on realgm.com (he's actually pretty legit with his inside info), the Sixers had already balked at a package for Iguodala allegedly offered by Morey that included Ariza, Hill and Jeffries, with Ariza widely viewed as the "key" component to the deal. Now that Ariza is gone, I highly doubt that Philly is going to be MORE receptive to dealing Iguodala to the Rockets when Ariza is replaced with the expiring contract of Shane Battier. And to the extent that Philly's motivation to deal Iguodala could at all be conceived as a "salary dump", the Sixers have much better trade partners in that department than Houston. One of the several teams with large trade exceptions could offer the most significant (and immediate) salary relief to Philly. Toronto (armed with the $14.5M Bosh trade exception) comes to mind as a team that would (a) want an athletic small forward and (b) be willing to pay for the right player. Bottom line: Nice try. But it will take a lot more than Jordan Hill to entice a team like Philly to part with a legit All Star-caliber player. Even if it's just for salary relief.
Brooks + Hill + NY 2012 Pick + HOU 2012 pick + Jeffries (filler) for→ Curry + Radmanovic (filler) Rockets cut $1.77M, get under the tax. Brooks, Lin (non-guaranteed) Ellis, Bell, Williams D.Wright, Jeffries Udoh, Hill, B.Wright (bust), Goodridge (non-guaranteed) Lee, Biedrins, Gadzuric Curry, Lowry Martin, Lee, Taylor Battier, Budinger Scola, Patterson, Radmanovic Miller, Yao, Hayes
The 2012 picks are looking like late first round picks. Is Hill still considered lottery talent around the league?
just thought id share but...hoopsworld is saying that magic want lee back...and that if we strike out on carmelo we might go for rashard. Thats like one of those....would we? would they? ...should we? heh http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=17095&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter \
thats what i was thinking...he is a weird player...when you watch he seems like a rebounding/defensive machine but his stats dont show anything but him being an extremely good 3pt shooter... what is his contract like 3 years left at 18 mil? cause that is pretty bad...ud think iggy would be better.
Minny is stacked with decent centers and PF. Houston gets K. Love pick Minny gets Hill Bud 3.6 mil. TE
So.. if Carmelo Anthony is heading out the door, perhaps the Nuggets would begin to sell off other parts of the team to get a fresh start. I'd imagine the most desirable parts for Morey would be Billups and Nene. Both these guys have been incredibly efficient scorers in their careers.
TE (Murphy trade) + 1st Round Pick + rights to Magnum Rolle for→ Hill OR TE (Murphy trade) + rights to Magnum Rolle for→ Hayes
Rockets Get: anthony afflalo Nuggets Get: C-bud K-Martin Jefferies NY Pick Ming/Miller/Hill Scola/Hayes/Patterson Anthony/Battier Lee/Afflalo Brooks/Lowry
I really don't want to part with Kevin Martin. So here goes my proposal. Brooks + Battier + Jeffries + NY's 1st round pick for Melo + Ty Lawson Any package involving Brooks to Denver should net us Ty Lawson. There's not enough room for Billups, Brooks and Lawson. - Make Lowry the starter since he's basically earning starting PG money now and have Lawson play backup. Lawson is actually pretty similar to Lowry and he'd do a formidable job as a backup. Probably one of the better backups out there along with Lowry currently. - A combination of Yao + Melo + Martin would be very similar to the 2008 Celtics big 3 except our guys would be younger and still in the prime. This would also relieve pressure off of all three guys especially Yao. - PG shooting might be suspect but when you have two bonafide 20 pt scoring wing players (Martin + Melo) with the option to dump the ball into another 20 pt scoring big man threat (Yao) we need more of a facilitator role at the pg position anyways. I think we can all agree Brooks is a "Shoot first Pass second PG." - This is an attractive deal as any for Denver. Brooks, Battier, and Jeffries are all expiring contracts. They solidify their future PG position with Brooks since Billups won't last forever. They get a solid veteran in Battier maybe he can show JR Smith a thing or two about being a "consummate professional" . Jeffries is a big expiring so it gives the Nugs a chance to rebuild/sign players next year. The NY pick is very intriguing/interesting. I think it's a fair trade and both teams win especially since Denver will be losing Melo one way or another they would be hard-pressed to get any better offers.
Hmm i still think Carlos Delfino is the answer Prince and Battier have both lost a couple of steps defensively, and they're on the wrong side of the 30. Prince gave up an average 113 points every 100 possesions. Thats the same Hedo turkgolu, so yea i think ill pass on him. Battier gave up 108 which is mediocre. While carlos delfino gave up only 103, that plus hes only 27, and he has a good contract. So thats why i think carlos delfino is the answer.
I think this is a pretty reasonable offer that will entice Stan Kroenke Jeffries + Hill + Patterson + Battier + Brooks + 2012 NY 1st round pick for Carmelo + Lawson + Anderson Rockets lineup Lowry/Lawson Martin/Lee Carmelo/Budinger Scola/Anderson/Hayes Yao/Miller/Hayes Nuggets lineup Billups/Brooks Afflalo/Smith Battier/Harrington Martin/Patterson/Williams Nene/Hill/Butch
**** yeah. The Warriors would be stupid to do it though. They already have the a Shooting PG. His name is Ellis.
As much as I would like to see Melo in Rocket Red I would not want to give up our assets for a rental. He will end up in NY sooner or later. Lets just try to aquire a player that would consider being a Rocket long term.
