Do you think Josh Smith could fit with the Rockets and fill our defensive void?

I just meant, I doubt that Toronto guy knows what he's talking about. Being a fan of a team doesn't necessarily mean you have good basketball IQ, as has been shown on this site a few times. That's a huge steal for Houston, and his only justification for it was to take a flier on Thabeet and get "somewhat young guys to fill out the roster as we rebuild." You said yourself that Thabeet is trash.. and that's not even talking about how Bargnani is only a year older than Thabeet/Twill.

I still think Hasheem hasn't totally failed, but if the Hasheem experiment fails then i'd look to acquire Semih Erden from the cavs

You've probably never heard of heard of Erden, but he'd be a good prospect.
He's a Marcin Gortat clone. Both are 6'11 240 lbs. Except Erden 3 years younger. They're athletic and good leapers, but Gortat has more experience and is overall better, but with time I think Erden can reach his level. Erdens just goota work on his overall skills like his ball handling and his mid-range but I think in 2 years he'll just as productive as Gortat. Plus He could be had for like cheap such as the Magics pick and cash consideration.

I don't really like per-36 but some people use it to justify skill level so is per 36 is like 10 and 7 and 1.5 blocks a game. Morey should consider this

I'd like to trade Thabeet and Williams for Sixers #16 pick and Nocioni assuming we trade Courtney Lee, #14, #23 to Minnesota for #2 (Williams) and Tolliver. We move Thabeet and Williams (Terrence) for #16 and draft Brooks to replace Lee and take on Nocioni. We would still have #38 to draft a big, but i think we'd be doing ourselves a favor removing Thabeet and Williams from the locker rooms.

    C: Yao / Miller / Tolliver
PF: Scola / Patterson / Hill
SF: Williams / Budinger / Nocioni
    SG: Martin / Brooks
    PG: Lowry / Dragic

Rumor has Sixers looking for a big man in this draft AND Williams replaces Iggy as they get Ellis.

I have a feeling they got McHale so that he could work more with Thabeet. So if a trade for the #2 pick only consists of Lee, #14 and #23, i would look to trade Scola, Hill and Bud for that 16th pick. I would also try to get Iggy in that package as well by adding T-Will and the 38th pick(or maybe a future pick).
    Something like this..
    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3s2wec3
Then instead of drafting D. Williams, i would draft E. Kanter with that #2, but i definitely agree with M. Brooks with the 16th.

    Lowry/Dragic
    Martin/M. Brooks
    Iggy/Nocioni/Blakely
    Chuck/Pats
    Yao?/Kanter/Thabeet

If we don't draft a big in the 1st round then I wouldn't mind trading our 2nd rounder #38 to Cleveland for Erden.

    Rockets trade:
    Luis Scola
    Courtney Lee
    Jordan Hill
Rights to whoever Phoenix wants us to draft at #14

    Suns trade:
    Robin Lopez
    Jared Dudley
    Hakim Warrick

Put in some trade exceptions and give them back #23 and it could work.

The Suns get a great big Scola which they've needed. He can stretch the floor with his mid range shooting and his post moves will help the Suns on the inside. Also his defense won't be as exposed because of Marcin Gortat's shot blocking and help on D. They get a legit scorer at the two who also is a good defender in Lee. Also i think Lee could evolve into 20 ppg game scorer. Just look at Marcus Thornton after the Hornets traded him to Sacramento. They could utilize Hill as a backup forward He'd probably be happy to be back in Phoenix, and not have as much competition for minutes. Sun could use their picks for another wing like Tobias Harris.

Rockets would finally get what they've been lacking in Lopez. SIZE. He's a good defender and could emerge further with Kevin Mchale tutelage(i.e. Al Jefferson, Kevin Garnett, Kevin Love.) He just need to work on not commiting as many fouls. Lopez also alters shots. Jared Dudley would be an amazing addition to the Rockets. He has a good inside out game, and is a good defender. He's a hardworking, blue collar guy. He's just a tough, intense, competitor. When he started the lasr 10 games of the season he put up 16 points 6 rebounds and 2.3 assists. He adds something new to his repertoire every season. Hakim Warrick could be used as a back up forward in case someone sustains an injury or something.

It would really be in benefit both teams.

    Nash
    Lee
    Hill
    Scola
    Gortat

    Lowry
    Martin
    Dudley
Hayes, until Patterson's ready(probably in the middle of this season)
    Lopez

You need to watch more Suns games then. That proposal is horribly lopsided in Phoenix's favor.

Maybe.... Deng is an enigma, not sure how I feel about him.

Lowry/Martin/Deng, may not be as strong as we need offensively, especially if we are getting rid of Scola.

There is a supposed insider on another forum claiming the Rockets have made this offer to the Bulls:

Take it, for what it is worth.

    *edit* some other tidbits

I would be thrilled if we pulled that off. An Asik-Patterson front line might be the best defensive one in the league a few years down the road.

So if the Rockets did that deal they would have 4 1st round picks? #14,23,28,30?

I like Asik. And I have no problem giving up Lee or Hill. I would be interested to see what Morey would then do with those 4 picks as he surely would have some 'follow up' trades after that as there is no way we are drafting 4 players in the 1st round.
