My scenario..... Steve Nash and Marcin Gortat for Jordan Hill+Aaron Brooks+Yao Ming+Chase Budinger. Then a three way with Jeffries, Williams and a protected first rounder going to Charlotte for Gerald Wallace. Gortat/Hayes Scola/Patterson/Hayes Wallace/Battier Martin/Lee Nash/Lowry
Looking at the roster, that's a team I will go to war with any day. Looking at the trade proposals.. no way Phoenix does that. We'd be lucky to get Nash for Hill/Brooks/Budinger, let alone Nash & Gortat.
Do you honestly think we could win the championship in the next 2-3 years with that lineup ? There is no defense at 3 of the starting 5 positions.
according to Alex Kennedy of hoopsworld. I know we can't take this as a realiable source but the article says that josh smith is now available. They are looking for the next piece to contend. I think I have a trade that will work. http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=18878 http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine my trade is a 3 way. Houston - gets ZAZA, Josh Smith, and G.Wallace Hawks - Ab, S.Jackson, Diop, scola Charlotte - Yao, JJeffries, M.Williams, Houston 1std rd, Hawks 1st round and Houston second round picks Houston does this to get a starter pf and a dynamic sf and a center (we could do worse than him) Hawks does this for the PG they are looking for, Jackson can shift to SF and Diop is a center than will help and scola at PF. Charlotte does this for Massive salary cap relief in Yao and JJeffries, young talent in M.William and picks.
that seems like an ok idea but honestly i think it is time to start over. a trio of martin , smith , and wallace is not championship caliber.. let me know what you think of my plan on the last page.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4gj9qj7 + the Knicks 2012 first rounder I think we should do whatever it takes to get DeMarcus Cousins. He is one of the few POTENTIAL superstars around. We don't have the assets for a current superstar. I also think we are one of the few teams that have a better chance of reigning in his personality. With Battier, Hayes, Miller, and Patterson (college teammate), I think it is an environment where he'll flourish. Depth Chart would look like: Lowry, Udrih, Ish Martin, Lee Battier, Budinger, Williams Hayes, Patterson, Jeffries Cousins, Miller We would then still have Jeffries, Budinger, and Williams left to try to upgrade at SF (Wallace?).
I believe we missed out on Cousins with Deron going to New Jersey. My guess, the trade would have involved Sacremento receiving Deron Williams. Houston taking on cousins and Garcia's contract and tons of nonsense to Utah
actually we could contend, if you see, in the purposed trade, we do not give up too many assets, we would still have a glut at the wings... We could package that up with a superstar... maybe danny granger, or CP3. Or maybe our rookies make a huge step foward. If we resign yao on the cheap, go after Chandler in the offseason. we could be very good within the next year and still make playoffs this year.
Yeah but we would have to give up more than that to actually get those players. And i dont think we can convice a superstar to come here even if we have those players. Stars want to play with stars now and none of those players are superstars. Plus for some reason h-town just isnt that popular
Point taken, however, your trade doesnt help either. I do llike the approach that OKC used and developed their players. Hence we still have great players, PPat, William and Clee are players that could be great, I am not sure if they could be all stars. I think the short term goal has to be in line with the long term goal, but we have to get into the play offs first.
Yeah i see what you are saying also ( trading for proven talent ) ... i just think that sometimes you have to take a gamble and when you have a talent evaluated who is as proven as Morey is I think the rebuilding process doesnt have to take too long if we can just get a few high picks. Even if we dont use them, using Favors as an example they can be huge assets. So i just dont think making the playoffs this year or the next should be our main goals.
I think the best answer is a hybrid of both. I think that is what morey is trying to do. Building with proven and with picks.. I think things should be somewhat fluid so I do agree with Morey and that Making the play offs is in the best interest especially for developing players. Also play off experienced players are worth more in my opinion, hence building their value as assets.
Haha. yeah thats true, veterans are worth alot more when they are coming from winning teams. In my original plan i just dump most of the veterans so i didnt matter whether or not we make the playoffs, in fact we need to aim for the best draft picks possible
Scola, Battier, and Brooks to Min. for Eddy Curry expiring contract, Johnny Flynn, and Min. 2011 first round pick unproctected....
Thats not a terrible idea but i think we could get more for them if we trade them separately. One team only has so much to offer and may not have a need for 3 rocket veterans.
And I would give the Kings basically anything for Cousins, even if they would give us the chance. Scola+Brooks+1st rounder+Budinger for Cousins/Udroh and filler.
