Spoiler then... Spoiler = nash/lowry/ish lee/twill melo/(d league benchwarmer) scola/patterson/s williams robin/hayes/miller wont happen...i have a better chance of selling oakleys in seattle.
Nash is a superstar. If the Rockets don't get better and a younger superstar is on the block next season. Then they'll have a real trading chip.
Okay. Here's a radical idea. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6hq5lja Houston, Denver, and Lakers 3 Way Trade Houston gets: Nene, Chris Anderson, Billups, and Steve Blake Denver gets: Yao Ming, Andrew Bynum, Devin Ebanks, Shannon Brown, and Jeffries Lakers get: Carmelo Anthony and Aaron Brooks Why do the Lakers do this?: Well, they don't have to worry about procuring an agreement to resign as Melo would undoubtedly resign for LA. A core of Melo, Kobe, and Gasol can win a championship easy. This is a HUGE win trade for them...perhaps too much so. Why does Denver do this?: For a non extended Melo this isn't a terrible deal. This is assuming Nets are serious about not coming back to the table. They get massive cap relief with the Yao contract and an expiring Jeffries and Shannon Brown while shedding the contracts of Nene, Billups, and Anderson all in one fell swoop. Picks would have to be involved from both Houston and LA. Why does Houston do this?: Well, for one it completely screws NY. But honestly, we get a true quality center in Nene and solid backups in Steve Blake and Anderson and a quality starting point guard all for two guys we don't use in Yao and Jeffries and a disgruntled (lately terrible) PG in Brooks. We would still need to move assets to free up playing time as we'd be too stacked still or we could just buy out Blake's contract. Billups/Lowry/Smith/Blake Martin/Lee/Williams Battier/Budinger Scola/Hayes/Patterson Nene/Anderson/Miller/Hill That starting lineup of Billups, Martin, Battier, Scola, and Nene is damn good. Only problem would be LA would be damn near impossible to beat so long as Kobe is still producing.
Here's a random thought........Let's trade our entire roster to the clippers team in exchange for their current starting lineup and roll the highlight reel. God......that team is FUN to watch unlike the current Houston Rockets who first of all do NOt win, and when they do, they do so in the most boring fashion. Must be nice to be a clippers fan this year (amazing what a couple of electrifying players can do to a fanbase nationwide). Even crazier thought is we have a couple of those players in T-Will and PPat and neither gets the PT they deserve. If DM and Les really cared about us fans they would fire RA alas the Pacers did recently to instill youth movement withing the organization.
Hou trade: Brooks, Budinger, Jefferies Hou get: Nene Denver trade: Nene Denver get: Jason Thompson, Budinger Sac trade: Jason Thompson Sac get: Brooks, Jefferies Hou also gives $3M cash to Sac. which is more than enough to cover Jefferies remaining salary. Sac is under the cap so they can absorb Jefferies contract which helps Denver reduces this year's salary by about $8M which equal to $16M in total savings after luxuary tax considerations.
This isnt a big trade(kinda) It's just a trade that can maybe fix things by a little.. or GREATLY. I read that "sources" are saying that Artest wants out of LA... well.. Lakers MIGHT be interested in AB so check this trade. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine Artest turns into two ok young role players(Jordan Hill and Chase Budinger), Andrew Bynum who barely plays turns into Aaron Brooks and Theo turns into a walking 17 million dollar expiring contract Our lineup would turn into this Kyle Lowry/Terrence Williams or Ish Smith Kevin Martin/Courtney Lee Shane Battier/Ron Artest Luis Scola/Patterson and Chuck Hayes Andrew Bynum/Brad Miller and Chuck Hayes 11 man rotation. Just incase we have injuries players: Jeffries !!!! There will finally be no more log jam at the power forward spot and suddenly we look actually deep at the center spot. This trade will open up many other trades that we can do, dont you think? Like Scola+Artest+Picks for a decent SF which would move Patterson to starting position and Chuck into his real position.
you claim there is no more log jams the problem with trading a player that doesnt play for players who play starter minutes is that your creating more jams swap battier and jeffries for Yao, or battier and miller more preferably. brooks, chase and hill arent playing starter minutes but trading for 2 players who are. too much of a jam, more then we are right now.
We had Scola, Patterson, Chuck AND Hill playing at the 4. Now it would be just Scola and Patterson with Chuck on occasions. We had two power forwards and one Center playing center.. Now we would have a legit Center backed up by that brad miller and on occasions Chuck.
As of right now Chuck is playing at the 5 sharing minutes with Hill so quite frankly your not giving up as many minutes as you think especially with Chuck returning to the 4.
I don't think that makes us much deeper at all at the center position.... Bynum is injured as much as Yao, we need a player who can play 70+ games.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4u88h7u Houston trades: Yao, Brooks, Patterson, Hill, Budinger, Jeffries, NY 2012 1st, LAC 2011 2nd Receives: Melo, Nene, Landry, Balkman, S.Williams, Ely Nene Hayes Scola Landry Melo Battier Martin T.Williams Lowry Lee Sacramento trades: Thompson, Casspi, Landry Receives: Brooks, Patterson, Harrington, LAC 2011 2nd Cousins Dalembert Patterson Jeffries Greene Garcia Evans Garcia Brooks Udrih Denver trades: Melo, Nene, Harrington, Balkman, S. Williams, Ely Receives: Yao, Hill, Budinger, Thompson, Casspi, Jeffries, NY 2012 1st Thompson Birdman Martin Hill Casspi Budinger Afflalo JR.Smith Billups Lawson Rockets go all in, Sacramento retools & Denver rebuilds, while savings tons of money, both short and long term.
decent trade, Sac would have to give up a 1st rounder as well, a lot of talented prospect for peeps they put on the trade table already. that would give Denver 2 1st rounders
Sure, but other than the usual message board fantasy posts, there probably aren't any impact moves available. In fact, the recent talk from Morey and Les is probably deliberate misdirection. When we've made moves in the past, you usually didn't know anything about it until it happened. That's the reality of trades in the NBA. When the media gets wind of it, other teams start sniffing around, fans start reacting, and someone gets cold feet. So when Morey and Les publicly talk about trades, it tells me that we're not expecting to make any. Instead, Morey and Les are sending a message to the team. Of course, if a sweet deal just happened to show up, I'm sure Mitch would pursue it. But that's pretty rare, and 99% of the trade ideas on message boards would be DOA in the real world.
After the 15th, Brooks, T-Will and Hill for Cousins and Landry. Kings would take a look at that, imo.
