THIS! b/c I really want to keep: Really want to keep Battier and Hayes for their vet leadership Martin for his scoring Lee, Pat and Williams for their potential Lowry/Brooks
Yea, NJ would be the key component of the deal, assuming Rockets propose it, they would basically give up Favors for another #1, Scola and getting rid of Petro's contract. There would be a logjam at the 3 but I'd be willing to play out the rest of the season as is and let Battier go however I'd much rather move Bud for anything. Thorton sounds interesting but to be honest, George would be the future and Battier would be the mentor at a cheaper rate in my perfect scenario. Morey wants to re-create Boston and I think by doing this move it sets him up for a big 2012 trade deadline and offseason to make it happen.
That's not a bad idea. Although, i would actually prefer to start T-Will over Lee, and maybe deal Budinger for another draft pick if possible and have Paul George come off the bench behind Battier. Reason being, we've seen Bud is still a below mediocre (at best) defensively, and with George's length and potential, he can possibly cause some problems defensively for the opposition. As for T-Will, in what little that i've seen of him...i've seen great play making ability in him and his ability to attack and finish at the rim seems to be far superior than Lee. Lee can attack, but has the tendency to miss the easy layups.
I like it mainly due to our situation with Scola. Mind you, he's my favorite Rocket but from the moment we extended him I got that "Oh no, another Steve Francis" type feeling where we're already stuck in basketball purgatory yet here we are extending our best player (the right move) and knowing deep down inside it simply isn't good enough. Furthermore, finding a trade partner for any deal involving Scola is going to be difficult since he's kind of a "win now" type of player and there aren't many contenders out there that actually need a high scoring/intangibles/hustle PF with no defense. The idea of essentially flipping him (along with other pieces) for a possible franchise center is about as 'best case' as this scenario could hope to play out, IMO.
http://basketball.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5823693 Rockets send: battier, jeffries, lee Rockets rec: Mayo, thabeet, dominque jones, and roddy B Mavs send: deshawn, Dominque jones, roddy B, barea and cardinal Mavs rec: battier and tony allen Griz send: mayo, thabeet, tony allen Griz rec: Courtney lee, jeffries, deshawn, barea, cardinal Rockets do this and get young real fast with talent by getting rid of expiring veterans. we also get a raw big who hopefully can be a defensive presence Mavs do this to get another 3 who can play D and play smart ball to help them till butler comes back, they get rid of some youth but they are ready to go for the title once butler comes back and a stacked defensive team. Grizz do this to get a perfect 2 guard to play along with rudy gay, plays defense and wont demand diva status like mayo and get rid of long contracts like tony allen so they can have money to re-sign gasol. they also get barea as a back up pg
Trade Deadline comes around and no improvement to record for either the Pacers or the Rockets. Sactown has always been a good trade partner, so its time to return the favor and keep the relationship up? http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6c4fbyv Rockets and Pacers go young and Sac gets ready for the next year with a legit line up. Rockets trade out: Scola, Lowry, Miller, Lee, 2nd rounder Rockets trade in: Thompson, Casspi and Dalembert, 1st rounder Pacers trade out: Granger Pacers trade in: Lee, Landry, Miller, both 2nd rounders Kings trade out: Landry, Thompson, Casspi, Dalembert, 1st rounder, 2nd rounder Kings trade in: Scola, Granger and Lowry Kings have been wanting Brooks, but maybe Morey can convince them with the soon to be starting line up, Lowry is the better playmaker and defender, which is truth. Brooks was the scoring punch which isnt needed with Scola and Granger coming in. Lowry Evans Granger Scola Cousins Rockets and Pacers. Going young (although, due to being in the East, I still think Pacers will make the PO's giving their youngs even more playtime and PO experience). Both teams save IMMEDIATE cap relief, Rockets saving 2.2 mil and Pacers saving 2.1 mil). Both Rockets and Pacers move out their vets to make room for the rookies (ie.. Patterson and George) who both are showing great promises and need more playtime. Rockets can further the rebuilding mode by trading Brooks for Flynn and first rounder. Giving them 3 first rounders to move close to the top 3 draft (Kyle Irving or Percy Jones).
Really liking that line up for Kings and giving Scola a better chance in the playoffs which he deserves.
Thoughts on making a move for Blatche from WAS? I don't see him as a dominant big, but solid...maybe part of a 2-headed monster with Okafor, Nene, or another physical big. Sounds like WAS may prefer McGee, and there was some disharmony between he and Blatche. Get them to include J. Wall, and they can have whatever they want.
How about Stephen Jackson+Gerald Wallace+Nazr Mohammed for Scola+Budinger+Lee+Jeffries. Mohammed/Miller/Hayes Patterson/Hayes/Hill Wallace/Battier/Williams Martin/Jackson/Williams Brooks/Lowry/Smith I think you could go back to playing Brooks/Martin together if the three players around them were good defenders.
If it was now, with time to still catch up in the PO's, then ofcourse. But at trade deadline? With are record, if we keep going at this pace, will be almost impossible to get back into the PO's. Making that another last year repeat, thxs.
Now Bird is talking about building around Granger and adding a star/superstar player to him. Wonder if they'd take Scola and Jeffries for whatever and their 2011 #1????
Quit coming up with trades for Dally. He's expiring and is worthless in trade scenarios. They're gonna buy him out. No team is going to give up assets for him. The only thing Sac can get for him is another team's bad contract. I'm sure Detroit would flip them RIP for Dally in a heartbeat just to get rid of RIP.
Very good trade.. But I added Hill to it B/c I think the Nets are going to want more than just Scola. So one of Patterson or Hill(most likely Hill) would have to be dealt in addition to Scola, IMO
What do you guys think about this trade? Melo, Dalembert & Birdman to Houston http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=47tulba
This is the way. It's a good trade for all parties and sure Nets would have more options to sign Melo
Thanks The reason I didn't add Hill or PPat was because of Scola's BYC salary, it can be VERY hard to get the salaries to match thus took me a while to find the right mix of players. I instead chose to take on Petro's contract to make everything mesh but your probably right, JHill or PPat may need to go as a sweetener. Not sure if the numbers work with either guy involved since it was such a tight squeeze to make this work originally but you could do a separate deal involving a lotto protected 1st for either one.
Soooooooo are we planning the Kings future to be brighter than the Rox or what?? ..............dont like that at all from the Rox standpoint..
