they might be getting picks too, which honestly we cant beat. Cavs TE with picks > Rockets Yao insurance with pick
based on the gerald wallace rumors: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=478kfes Why we do it: We give up Bud, AB, and Shane's 'intangibles' (expiring contract) and get an All-Star, legit center, and Harrington. Why Charlotte would do it: They obviously want to get rid of Wallace's contract so they get Shane's expiring and Randolph's much smaller contract, plus a pick from us. Why NY would do it: Carmelo... duh Why Denver would do it: A ridiculous amount of Salary cap space, budinger, and whatever picks the 3 other teams could muster. this is definitely the weakest link, but i dont really know the draft pick rules and situations. After our lineup is: Lowry/Ish Martin/Lee Wallace/T. Will Scola/Harrington Nene/Hill
Agree, it would take either us to take on another crappy deal of theirs or give up some of our young cheap assets. If we can get a third team involved, however, then things could get interesting.
With teams like Minny and Sac. Town going after Aaron Brooks this summer, I think it would be in our best interest to trade Aaron Brooks. Funny enough, I think we should trade him to Sacramento. We've been very good trade partner's in the past and I'd like to keep that alliance going... So I propose this trade... ------------------- Aaron Brooks for Omar Casspi Hassan Whiteside 2011 Sac 2nd rd pick 2012 Sac 2nd rd pick --------------------
I had a previous trade reply going with Minny instead. It was based off if Love is ok with center and Beasley with SF. Sending Scola, Brooks and Lee for Johnson, Milicic and rights to Rubio. Maybe add our 2nd rounders and then ask them to hook it up and take Battiers contract with some cash for a buy out (I wont be one of those who says Battier will come back). Johnson has legit potential. Rubio, everyone here is in love with plus he wont play there. This would be a nice start in rebuilding. Minny would have: Brooks Lee Beasley Scola Love Pretty nice for the start of next year.
His for the future, trust me this team will look radically different next season.. And T-Will be a big part of the future roster..
Now would be a great time to go after Chris Paul. In light of Roy's recent injury issues and subsequent dramatic decline in trade value, the ownership may want to not gamble on Chris Paul's injuries and try to clear the team's salary dead weights to sell the team. We, on the other hand, should take that gamble. Paul + Okafur for Yao's insurance + Brooks + Hill + Budinger + Picks + Cash Paul/Lowry/Ish Martin/Lee Battier/Williams Scola/Hayes/Ppatt/Jeffries Okafur/Miller This will make it a lot easier to upgrade one last time to be true championship contenders.
If Nets don't get Melo we should do this trade with them Nets seem hell-bent on getting all-star talent. So let's give it to them. Murphy, Favors, Morrow and a pick for Hill, Scola and Martin. If the Nets did that trade, they would have four border-line All-Stars in Lopez, Scola, Martin and Harris. They would be like a Gerald Wallace away from being contenders for years (and he's available). Hooray for them. For us, I love Scola. The man plays with passion and hustles and great low-post moves. But it is Pat-Pat time. We need size and athleticism if we are going to be respectable again. Bringing in Favors and sending out Hill gives us a new big to experiment with. Maybe our coaches can help Favors progress. I think that is a gamble worth taking. Morrow can replicate Martin's outside shooting. But we'll miss his knack for getting to line. However, I liked how Brooks and Lowry play together when it's possible to do it. And also this will open up some minutes for our two-way players in Williams and Lee. Murphy is still a useful player and can stretch the floor. He'd be useful when Lowry is on the floor. To dump all that salary, I might consider not getting a pick in return if we could dump brad for sasha's expiring. Nonetheless, doing that trade would make us a much better team defensively. Clear up our congestion. And give us a future again. Brooks/Lowry/Ish/Lee/T-Will Lee/Morrow/T-Will/Lowry Battier/Bud/T-Will Patterson/Murphy/Jefferies Favors/Hayes/(Miller)/Murphy/Jefferies Thoughts?!
If you actually read the OP, you would see that this isn't a Melo thread. This is a proposed trade with NJ.
Replace Hill with Battier, Lowry or Battier and you could probably net Bosh or Milsap and some picks. I'd prefer both to Favors.
This is not a Melo thread. Bosh is not available. Millsap is okay but I'm not sure if he's available. He's undersized though so we would still have similar problems although he's much more athletic than Scola. On the face of it, it looks like we are giving up more talent than getting. But we need to rebuild and it doesn't make sense to keep Scola around for that...espec if Pat is doing so well. Part of the trade is getting a big who can make a difference in Favors. Another part is opening up minutes for two-way players like Lee and T-Will. Another part is clearing cash to give us a fresh start. With Favors, Patterson, T-Will, Lee we would have a good base. We need more athleticism and size on our team. When you consider all these things, I think the trade becomes one worth doing.
