These trades are pretty fair for all parties involved fits what all the speculation has been about. Perhaps, just perhaps if we can get a top ten pick then we can package Brand up with it and move him out to Cleveland or Toronto for a shot at Howard or Paul in 2012. Then we'd have Brooks/Iggy/Granger/Howard
Just remember that Cleveland and Toronto have big fat TE's they can use to take on salary like Brand and top ten pick to clean bad contracts and make room for Howard.
Yeah that would be a hard one for me to stomach if I was the Philly GM considering the talent I would be giving up. But it does sound like they really want to unload those contracts. By comparison Indy would be getting a windfall for Granger who really is a comparable player to Iggy IMO. So your probably right in thinking that the 2012 NYK pick would go to Philly.
There is almost always some team that could put together a better trade if they were willing. I was just trying to come up with something that would change our teams landscape while meeting everyones needs. Of course there is no way IMO that Morey trades 4 of his 5 starters and one of his top subs. I think if he did that then Rick Adelmans head would explode. Coaches are so anal about people they are comfortable with. JVG was like that and Rick is to.
Scola+Budinger for Jeff Green and filler. Green is almost as legit as Martin or AB as far as being a "building block" so we get younger and give them a young shooter and a real interior scoring presence.
Crash5179, that trade is well thought out! Good job! Normally those crazy blockbusters tend to have some serious flaws but your deal makes some sense. I think I would pull the trigger on that. Still have some pieces left over that can be moved for other players.
Patterson is looking so good right now, I would seriously consider moving Scola for a younger piece. Scola + Budinger could net a really nice piece.
Agreed, but teams are not scheming against him and let's not get caught up in production over a short window..... Scola is vital right now, PPat and Hill can learn a ton from him. DD
Dude, Hill ain't gonna learn from anybody. He is what he is. Mikki Moore with a little more athleticism, but light in the drawers, with poor hands, slow to react defensively, and no defined offensive skill set. He just ain't got it.
I like Scola alot but I get so frustrated with his defense. I think his value is at its absolute peak and would jump at the chance to to get a similar caliber player but younger. A Battier/Patterson/Hayes frontcourt would be pretty dang good defensively. In a complete 180, I saw this trade suggested on RealGM and it really got me thinking. Its kinda crazy but it really balances the roster. At first it seemed like a lot to give up but the depth chart looks pretty solid for the next couple of years Nash / Lowry Martin / Childress Battier / Hill / Williams Scola / Patterson Okafor / Hayes
A second year big man that's raw, what, are you serious? I didn't know such things existed... Also have you ever seen Mikki Moore Play? or are you just comparing them because they both have dreads... You need to stop talking out of your ass ... and learn some ****ing patience..
Andray Blatche + Josh Howard for Chase Budinger + Jarred Jeffries http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5807546
Inspired by crash, here's my Melo blockbuster: Houston: Darryl Morey pushes all of his chips into the middle. The Rockets radically shake up the roster, bringing in a giant infuse of talent with it. The roster would look like: Brooks/Lowry Iguodala/CLee Melo/Nocioni/Twill Brand/Harrington/Hayes Andersen/Miller(Hayes) The Rockets defense is majorly upgraded with the addition of all four new starters. A change in this team's defensively mentality is sorely needed and this move brings it. Brooks is inserted into the starting lineup to give us more of a perimeter shooting threat from downtown; his weakness on defense is masked by Brand and Andersen's shot blocking threat at the rim. Iguodala is an elite defensive player and Carmelo can turn it on when he wants to (typical for a superstar). Our team payroll would be through the roof and we'd be paying luxury tax -- but so would the Lakers, the Magic, the Mavs. You gotta spend money to contend in today's NBA. Denver: Denver saves a ton of money by getting rid of the long-term contract of Chris Andersen, Al Harrington, and Ronaldo Balkman. Additionally, it rids them of problem child soon-to-be FA J.R. Smith. For Carmelo, they get the savings above plus a giant infuse in young talent. Highlighted by Kevin Martin, who they can market to their fans as a young 20 PPG scorer, they receive Jordan Hill, Patrick Patterson, Chase Budinger, Thaddeus Young and the Knicks 2012 1st round pick. The Nets are offering Favors/Devin + 2 1st rounders. I believe that Martin/Hill/Patterson/Young/Budinger + NY 2012 is comparable enough to that deal for Denver to prefer ours for the cap savings they would receive from it. Philadelphia: Philadelphia is able to rid themselves of three undesirable contracts in Brand, Nocioni, and Iguodala. Instead of getting purely expiring contracts in return, they get talent in Luis Scola. While Scola has a longer contract than Brand, it is at a much more reasonable price and without the risk of injury that Brand has had. They also get a highly talented but controversial swing man in JR Smith to try out for half the year -- if he doesn't fit, he is an expiring contract they can let walk. Shane Battier will be a veteran presence the young team needs, especially when developing their prized swingman rookie Evan Turner. The Clippers 2nd round pick sweetens the deal for them. ---------- Les could send the maximum $3M to one team (particularly Philadelphia) to sweeten the pot. The Rockets would turn into a contender overnight, with a 2011 1st round pick to help add to that team this summer. Who says no?
