Yes, as I said in my post Scola is good, however, Jordan Hill is nothing but a soft potential (think Stromille Swift). Scola is the only real asset on offense and is very limited on D in the post and PnR, unless you haven't seen the last 3 games when teams are posting him up at will.

If your watching the Kings tonight Dalembert and Carl are playing really well together and Denver isn't getting anything in the paint.

Scola and Miller have a 2 inch vertical combined and are getting murder int he post

I like how you said tonight cause there have been plenty games, Rockets or Kings where Landry just doesnt show.

And Dalembert is defensive minded. It lis like having Yao or Deke in the paint, you can relax your defense. Hell to the f'ing no.

If we give up Scola, get a high potential player.

Green or Granger come to mind.

    Houston
    Granger/Brand/Collison
A 2012 1st round pick from Philly Top 6 protected (taking Brand) (Maybe?)

    Pacers
Scola/AI2/Lowry/Trade Exemption for 1.4mil (from Rockets)

    Philly
    Battier/Jeffries/Ford/Hill

Philly can finally unload the 2 largest contracts on their team (although AI2 wouldn't be hard). A potential in Hill. 3 huge last year contracts as well, prepping them for next year.

Pacers show George he has the green light while not missing any offensive step with Scola filling in. Lowry is a defensive playmaker.

Rockets get a younger more athletic wing defender. Collison not playing good this year so far, change of scenario could help? Brand (while not worth his contract) can still put up the same numbers Scola does but add more defense then Scola. Gets a pick from Philly. Clears a PF glut (2 PF's for one) therefore letting Patpat get more time.

I think Philly is getting too much talent in return for getting rid of Brand's contract... I'd be happier if we replaced Battier, Jeffries and Hill with Yao... But I don't know if Philly would be content with just shedding salary.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, because Scola and Lowry are both BYC Indiana ends up taking on $5.2 million of salary instantly... and Scola's contract lasts until 2015 in which he gets paid $11 million/yr. Not to mention Iggy's contract. This trade ends up adding a lot of salary to their roster for future years....

Suffice to say being an alumnus of UCLA I think Collison is a very good pg and also getting Granger would give us a major upgrade... I think I would still pull the trigger on the original trade. Although the Rockets would still need a center.

I hope we get Paul and Okafor somehow. That will pretty much solve all of our major problems. Paul can be go-to-guy. We get defensive presence in Okafor. We also get a "REAL" playmaker. Martin and Paul together will do good. Paul will find way to get best out of Martin.

Must do.something now or towel might as well be thrown in now whilst waving a white flag.

Go after Dalembert, is playing for a contract, great motivator. Throw in Landry, he's coming 'home' next season anyway.

Then pursue either or both G Wallace & J Smoove.

    A line up of
    Lowry
    Martin
    Wallace or J Smith
    Scola
    Dalembert
With Pat Pat & Landry coming off the bench is a major upgrade on what we have now.
    Agree? Thoughts?

To clarify, playing for a contract is a great motivator.

    In a perfect world
    CP3
    Melo
    Blake Griffin
    &
    Dwight Howard
Would do an ESPN special to announce that they're bringing their talents to Clutch City!

Brooks, Hill, Jefferies and Battier for Granger, Solomon Jones and Posey. Pacers save a lot of cash and get young prospects in Brooks and Hill, expiring in JJ and an expiring Posey in Battier. I think that's a realistic trade. Anyone think the Pacer's would reject?

Defensively, we don't slip and our rotation actually becomes more defined and consistent.

    PG- Lowry, Ish, Lee, T-Will
    SG- Martin, Lee, T-Will
    SF- Granger, Posey, Bud, T-Will
PF- Scola, Pat, Hayes, Posey, Granger
    C- Hayes, Miller, Jones

We would need to trade for a back-up Center (Thabeet) and maybe another PG. We would be back in the playoff mix and able to upset in first round depending on matchup. Also important the departure of Brooks, Battier and Hill would give more court time to Pat and T-Will.

    Get this done!

I don't think the Pacers would want Brooks. He is in the last year of his contract and will be looking for a significant raise, plus they already have a young PG locked into a rookie contract in Collison.

They also would prefer Patterson over Hill as he seems to have the type of character they covet.

If they are willing to trade Granger then they must be looking to save cash. So Brooks being an expiring may not be a bad thing. I like Collison but seems to be underperforming. Maybe the trade would either spark him or Brooks outperforms and they decide to trade Collison or keep both like we had a brooks/lowry tandem. I agree Pat is a better prospect but we are really saving them alot of money by taking on both Granger and Posey...not sure how many teams are willing to do that. I think Hill would play much better with a true C like Hibbert too.

I think they'll be more inclined to getting Courtney Lee rather than Brooks, but I do like the trade from the Rockets perspective.

Gasol, Randolph, and Thabeet for Yao, Hill, Budinger, Patterson, and the Ariza trade exception:

    PG: Brooks/Lowry/Smith
    SG: Martin/Lee
    SF: Battier/Williams/2011 Draft Pick
    PF: Randolph/Scola
    C: Gasol/Miller/Thabeet

Griz aren't going to be able to re-sign Gasol and Randolph anyway, so they can save a bunch of money right now and get three good, young, cheap prospects.

Before reading and getting LOL's outta most of you I would like to point out that this is if and only if we can't get that really good player out of a trade.

With Houston 1 game behind the 8th seed, if they keep losing, something needs to happen. I propose a fire sell!

The Rockets were in the same position last year and the same roster (as now) wasn't enough to pull a PO merge in the west. Only to land a high lottery pick. :( I just hope for no repeats.

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=38war3c

Indiana is in the 7th seed currently, to make a better PO run, they need to upgrade the front court. Instead of trading Granger they could trade a prospect for an immediate impact player, ie.. Scola. Add Miller as a back up center. Indiana gives George and Ford. Since George is a lottery pick as it is, I don't know how picks would be addressed here.

A back up PG could be traded for as well or just FA signed.

    Next is Martin.

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3y7ls7s

Martin and Hill for Harden and Aldrich no picks involved.

I think Martins instant offense would shine along side the already growing trio of Westbrook/Green/Durant making the Thunder probably one of the highest scoring team per game. Martins lack of defense would be covered by Westbrooks and Durants strong defense letting him do what he does best, score. Hill would be a good back up to Green and in case Green jets (highly doubt it) you have a replacement maybe.

Rockets, with both of these trade, would be a more advance version of what OKC was a couple years ago.

But anyway, my main idea I am trying to get across is that the Rockets need to make a move and it need to happen soon. Whether that move is getting the all star caliber player or moving the current scorers for picks and prospects (doesn't have to be OKC and/or IND), it needs to happen.

By the way, I am a huge fan of Martin and Scola but just as much this helps them get closer to a ring (especially the OKC scenario).

I already know Houston would probably laugh at this but what about IND and OKC (or other teams you think would like Martin or Scola).

After all that, its up to management to finally play meaningful minutes to our young core. Flame suit is on.

Kevin Martin, Aaron Brooks, Jordan Hill

    for

    Danny Granger, Darren collinson

Pacers have recently announced granger is untouchable and collinson hasn't really gelled in obriens offense (obrien also got a contract extension). This way they still get a young pg to star in return and a 20 point scorer in kevin martin and potential at jordan hill

Rockets get a star and consolation prize with a great contract in Danny Granger, we also get an up and coming pg in collinson hwo might fair better in our system and offense and we don't have to worry about hte contract situation since he is on his rookie scale as oppose to brooks going into the FA

    joesr, really really bad here.

In the process of trading our best shooter and scorer (a notable player in both of these categories in the league) and go to man when we need free throws; you also manage to ditch one of our better young prospects for Cole Aldrich and TJ ford....

    truly ridiculous.

    - We know the Mavs would love to have Kevin Martin.
    - We keep hearing that Philly is in a sell! sell! sell! mode and would like to get rid of Iggy and Brand for salary cap space.
    - We here that Granger could be on the block for salary cap space and assets if enough are offered for him.
    - Houston has to acquire a legitimate 7 footer that can play defense, rebound and block shots as well as improve their overall defense.

For those that want to blow the team up here is my blockbuster trade that will do just that. This trade assumes that all four assumptions above are correct. Here is the mega trade:

    Code:
                           Houston Rockets
    Trade: Receives:
    Yao Ming Brandon Haywood
    Kevin Martin Danny Granger
    Luis Scola Elton Brand
    Chase Budinger Andre Iguodala
    Courtney Lee
    Shane Battier

                                        Indiana Pacers
    Trades: Receives:
    Danny Granger Luis Scola
    		             Rodrique Beaubois
    		             Chase Budinger
    		             Courtney Lee

                                       Dallas Mavericks
    Trades: Receives:
    Brandon Haywood Kevin Martin
    Rodrique Beaubois
    Alex Ajinca

                                     Philadelphia 76ers
    Trades: Receives:
    Andre Iguodala Yao Ming
    Elton Brand Shane Battier
    		          Alex Ajinco

In this scenario Dallas and Houston both take back fewer players than they give up while Philly and Indy both give up less than they take back. Houston has trade exceptions that they could use to acquire a couple of extra low priced bodies to help Indy absorb all the new players.

First off, does this trade scenario meet all of the assumptions listed at the top of this post? Would we need to throw in the Knicks 2012 1st round draft obligation for Danny Granger?

This trade would dramatically boost our defense and stock our team with two way players and not just offensive players like Scola and Kevin Martin. It gives us a true 7 footer. This trade would still not get us a superstar but it uses the same philosophy that Detroit used to win a Championship a few years back. Tough defense and a team effort on offense.

    Code:
    Starters
    Pos Player Age
    Point Guard	Kyle Lowry 24
    Shooting Guard	Andre Iguodala 26
    Small Forward	Danny Granger 27
    Power Forward	Elton Brand 31
    Center Brandon Haywood 31

    Bench
    Pos Player Age
PG / SG Aaron Brooks 25
    Point Guard	Ish Smith 22
SG / SF Terrence Williams 23
    SF / PF / C Jarred Jeffries 29
    SF / PF / C Chuck Hayes 27
    Power Forward	Patrick Patterson	21
    PF / C Jordan Hill 23
    Center Brad Miller 34

This, by far, is the only way that i would be willing to give up Kevin Martin. This is a pretty good trade!

Philly gets an expiring contract, 2 young talent, and a veteran.
They get rid of elton brands big contract

PG - aaron brooks - kyle lowry - ish smith
SG - Kevin Martin - courtney lee
SF - Andre Iguodala - Terrence Williams - Shane Battier
PF - chuck hayes - Patrick Patterson
C - Elton Brand ( even though he is not a center)

we could sign yao back if they really want him back
We will still have a hole at C but we can hopefully find one in the draft

Crash, I actually think that Indiana is getting a good haul for Granger in that scenario. The one I question is Philadelphia.. pure savings for them. Perhaps the 2012 NY pick or a prosepct on top of that to help sweeten the deal for them? Or do you think that they would give you Iguodala just to get rid of Brand?
