31 games in and the season is over? I was thinking vet for this season. If you can land a young guy like Cousins then of course you do it. I'm not saying go after someone like Haywood with that ridiculous contract, and to be honest I'm not big on Camby's deal either, but make a deal for him if not giving much up. I'm not ready to give up on this season so why not try an win now? Do I think this team can make a run at a title as is? No, but why make a deal for a guy that won't be ready for a couple years if that?
Blazers aren't giving up Batum. Him, Aldridge, and Matthews are the only untouchables on that team. I'd give up Hill and possibly Budinger and a trade exception for him. Nothing more, nothing less.
Trade checker or rumor? I'd think seriously about doing it minus Patterson. Denver is rumored to want Batum in a Melo deal.
We would, but Portland would laugh in our faces. How about a Camby for Hill, Jeffries and Budinger? We upgrade at the center spot and finally get a legit shotblocker and rebounder and free up wing position for Williams and Battier. Portland does this because they are likely to trade their vets and get younger with Hill and Budinger and also get back a expiring in Jeffries and to get salaries to match. We still have enough assets to pull off another trade for a superstar, if one becomes available
Michael Lee of the Washington Post said that McGee is " very not available". They wanna get rid of Blatche, not him and I don't want any part of that knucklehead anywhere near our locker room.
Brendan Haywood suited up but didn't play for the first time this season. Is this the writing on the wall we could trade jefferies straight up for him he has a huge contract but fits the mold of big man we need. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine
Sefko: Brendan Haywood 'feels a little betrayed' Posted at 5:07 PM on Tue., Dec. 21, 2010 Adjusting in games is a strength of his. He's also done a great job with the rotation and keeping most of the players happy. Admittedly, winning helps that. But I think he's earned some credits among the players by the way he's been consistent with the way he's handled them. They may not always like it. But I think they respect the fact that Carlisle is always trying to do the right thing that will help win games. No agendas for him. On what's the biggest issue with Brendan Haywood: Sefko: Brendan feels a little betrayed, I think, that he didn't get the starting job. But that's history now. He's got a chance to be a strong big man off the bench and if he runs with that opportunity, I think he'll see how it can benefit him in the long run. And I'd also caution everybody that Tyson Chandler has been injury prone in his career and if something goes wrong, Haywood is going to be a 30-minute man. NBA coaches and GM's always play the what-if game. As in, what if this happens? I tend to give players a lot of rope in situations like this. Haywood might not be the happiest camper in the locker room right now. But if he has a bruised ego, those things heal, just like every other injury usually does. http://mavsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2010/12/sefko-brendan-haywood-feels-a-little-bet.html
the trade of the year. houston gets: nene outlaw and devin harris nets get: melo and brooks denver: yao, jeffries, favors, and budinger http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine tell me wat u think, teams will all be satisfied and houston gets center sf and a true pg that can do everything
I like that trade..but Nene is not the defensive presence that we need..but he'll thrive offensively.
Coming from somebody that follows the Hawks closely, I can assure Atlanta would probably do this. The question is: why would we? I ask this because I assume most posters here are unfamiliar with the 2010 version of Bibby and Marvin Williams. Trust me when I say Bibby is one of the worst defensive players in the league. He's an utter statue on both ends of the floor. Granted, he's smart -- a terrible defender one-on-one defender but he's at least smart enough to understanding spacing, where to be on the floor, etc. Plus, he can shoot. That's great and all -- but basically we're talking about an older, slower version of Brooks here but with better instincts. Two terrible defenders checking perhaps the toughest (but most certainly quickest) position to guard in the league? Do we REALLY want to see this happen? Now, onto Marvin Williams. 2-3 years ago I used to spend countless hours on here defending Marvin talking about how's an underrated player, how he's progressed each season, how he plays two-way basketball, how people need to get over the CP3/Deron thing, etc. THAT player doesn't exist anymore. What was once a promising young player has now been replaced by a lazy, unmotivated opportunist that got paid and doesn't care anymore. He disappears, he dogs it....he can play when he wants to but he's become completely unreliable and rarely plays or steps up in crunchtime (sound familiar?). Simply stated: we would be better off playing and developing Terrence Williams before we should consider doing anything stupid like taking Marvin's contract off of Atlanta's hands. I respect your idea and reasoning, I just encourage you or anybody that doesn't believe me to watch a Hawks game if you need proof. This trade would make us softer and leaves us stuck with Marvin's nasty contract.....all for what? To acquire Atlanta's first-rounder? I just can't see the upside to this idea.
Don't know if it's been posted or not. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...rumors-could-houston-win-the-melo-sweepstakes Pretty good trade ideas.
