really? you dont think its fair that new orleans gets Lowry, Kevin Martin, Brad Miller and Jeffries expiring for CP3 and Emeka's contract? Melo and Al Harringtons 4 year contract for Jordan Hill, Battiers Expiring, Yaos Expiring and 2-3 1st round draft picks??? I think youre just hating
I'm not hating at all. Brad Miller is a mediocre center and JJ is just an expiring contract, despite his defensive ability. Martin will help them score efficiently, but not defensively. Lowry can help them, but he is nowhere near CP3's level. The first round picks would be useful, but aren't likely to be high lottery picks. The expiring contracts can provide them only salary cap relief. Battier may re-sign with them, but I feel that he is more likely to join a more experienced team. Hill is interesting, but he is a project. I think Denver can get better offers. I didn't mean to single you out either,I don't think the Clippers are going to give up on Griffin as Yaowza pointed out.
Lowry, Kevin Martin, Brad Miller and Jeffries expiring for CP3 and Emeka's contract - for a team thats pretty much bankrupt, clearing 6 mill in salary and freeing themselves of their commitment to emeka long-term is pretty huge. I doubt they get better offers than Lowry, Kevin Martin and Brad Miller plus the 6 mill in cap relief (Jeffries). Lowry/Martin/Ariza/West/Miller is a respectable team for one thats on the mend. At lest it doesnt look any worse than the Rockets current team. Melo and Al Harringtons 4 year contract for Jordan Hill, Battiers Expiring, Yaos Expiring and 2-3 1st round draft picks - Is Derrick Favors/Troy Murphy that much better than Jordan Hill? Not only that, but we clear Al Harringtons 5 Mill per year commitment over the next 4 years and they also get 2-3 1st round picks, despite it being in the mid-range, one of them may end up being a hit if youre draft savvy. Not to mention the 8 million the Nuggets would get for Yao's injury exception, which would provide crucial for a team about to bear the shock of losing a superstar like Carmelo.
Very very good trade proposal....makes sense for both teams....I would do this in a heartbeat but it would not be but 1 of atleast 3 trades the Rox should do.
Houston trades: Yao Ming Jared Jeffries Aaron Brooks Chase Budinger Denver trades: Chauncey Billups Nene Hilario Denver gets some youth and expiring contracts to help speed up their rebuilding stage, and Houston looks to contend as a top 4 or so team in the West.
Varejao posted an impressive statline tonight in a blowout loss to the Magic: 14 points on 9 shots, 9 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 blocked shots. One of only two Cavs with a positive +/-
IMO, I think, in order, these are the centers we should be after. 1. Nene ( pipedream ) 2. Varejao 3. Okafor 4. Camby 5. Kaman
Not with the way Budinger is playing. Am I getting Iggy or Wallace in a subsequent deal? I don't even think Cleveland would want Shane. They have Parker who is similar.
I think that any team that is willing to trade for Andy, the Cavs would make them take on a bad contract such as Gibson or Jamison. Is Varejao worth it? Him, Camby and Nene should be Morey's top target to replace Yao as the starting center.
BEST TRADE OPTION for 3 teams (HOU, NY, DEN) !!! ESPN Trade Machine CONFIRM !!! http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=346t337 RealGM Trade Checker (#5789138) CONFIRM !!! HOU gets: Billups, Nene, Chandler, Randolph, Mozgov DEN gets: Brooks, Yao, Jefferies, Azubuike, Curry, Gallinari, + 2012 1st (HOU) NYC gets: Melo, Harrington, JR Smith WHY "they" would do it... HOUSTON agrees to this trade because they would find an "EFFICIENT" big man to compete now and for the future in Nene and get a veteran "CLUTCH" PG with size and leadership in Billups who is also on a short (2-yr) contract. Billups gets to finish his career on a CONTENDING team...thats right' CONTENDING TEAM The SF position that is also an significant weakness gets addressed with a true SF with size that is foundamentally sound, young, athletic, plays defense, rebounds, and can shoot the 3. The addition of Randolph gives the team a raw developing lottery level talent with size, shotblocking, and multidimensional athleticism. The "filler" Mozgov is thrown into the mix primarily for financial reasons, but will provide HOU with another TRUE 7" center to develop under Carrol Dawson & Sikma. Mozgov should not be a significant loss to NYC because he is avg. less than 10min per game and was DNP-CD for the last 4 games. HOUSTON turns Yao's expiring contract into usable assets and talent for the team, while they hope to eventually resign him below market value once he has healed in the future. HOUSTON would also give DENVER the coveted 2012 1st from NY and possibly som cash considerations (1-3 mil) PG= Billups, Lowry, SG= Martin, Lee, Williams SF= Battier, Chandler, Randolph, Budinger PF= Scola, Hill, Hayes C = Nene, Miller, Mozgov NEW YORK agrees to the deal for obvious reasons, they get MELO to pair with Amare. Denver has already said that they want to unload Harrington's contract with any Melo trade, and Melohas said that he doesn't want to go to a "gutted" team...he wants to be moved WITH additional talent. All of the above gets accomplished. Harrington's talent (and his contract) gets included which pleases Denver and Melo gets a talented vet that can spell him or Amare. The "wild card" is the inclusion of JR Smith. There is no question that he is talented, which pleases both Melo and I'm sure the Knicks, but his contract is expiring and gives NYC additional financial flexibility after the season. Knicks would place a possible starting lineup of Felton-JR Smith-Melo-Amare-Turiaf on the floor. This group of players would have difficulties on the defensive end but without question they would become a top 4-5 team in the east. D'Antoni already plays a short rotation, so having only 7-8 players play every night is something that the Knicks would not change much. As a side note, the Knicks dont include their suprise find in Fields in this trade, as they are reluctant to do. NYC would need to include cash considerations (1-3 mil) and any requested 1st rd picks that DENVER requests. PG= Felton, Douglas SG= Smith, Fields SF= Melo PF= Amare, Harrington C = Turiaf, ? DENVER agrees to the deal because they land proven young and semi-marketable talent in Brooks and Gallinari who are both on rookie contracts. The inclusion of K. Azubukie is not only an additional expriing contract, but when healthy, he provides size and shooting at the SF/SG position. Financially, after this season, DENVER would have an approx 40.9 million coming off the books from this group of incoming players (62.1 mil team total coming off the books at the end of this season), a fresh slate with young talent (Brooks, Gallinari, Lawson, & Affallo), plus 1st rd picks from HOU. Some would say that Denver needs to get more or is giving up too much, but logic would say talent wise they couldnt get too much more especially as time winds down to the deadline and other GM force Denver's hand. Denver is left with only 1 "bad" contract (C. Andersen = 4yrs @ 4.5mil). The big question with them is, can 62 million coming off the books give the team more flexibility to rebuild than the NJ offer of Favors and 4 1st rd picks? I would say yes. PG= Lawson, Brooks, Carter SG= Afallo, SF= Gallinari, Azubukie, Forbes PF= Martin, Williams, Jefferies, Balkman C = Andersen, Ely, Yao, Curry I think if fits every team's desire. It took me a while to find something that works and fits what the "sources" and "rumors" are leading towards. HOU needs to fill gaps at the C and SF to be more than a .500 team and contend, NYC is trying to land MELO, Melo wants to really only go to the Knicks but wants talent to go with him, DEN wants to maximize its return from trading Melo while unloading Harrington's contract. DEN will unquestionablly be in a rebuilding mode thus making Billups services and massive contract no longer necessary. Losing JR Smith's talents will be missed, but losing his problems and attitude surely won't be. Either way his current contract is expiring after this season and he will likely demand a larger contract. Losing Nene and his BIG contract is unfortunate but will subsequently give DEN significant cap space during the rebuilding process. DEN also get 2 15-20 point scores, one being about 7", who are young building blocks to pair with Afallo and Lawson. If you think this trade doesn't work, explain why not. I would love to hear it.
I really appreciate the time you took to put this trade together but in all honesty I would rather do a trade with Denver excluding New York. To sum it all up think of the following: Espn Trade Machine Confirm: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=33oeemv HOUSTON gets: Nene, Harrington, Anthony, Smith, and Billups DENVER gets: Yao, Scola, Battier, Martin, Brooks, Jeffries, and NY 2012 first round pick. Aside from going from white to black overall (which we need) we get a better team with an overall better bench than what the Nuggets have at the moment, or what they could expect to have after it's all said and done. Yes Im actually saying we should exchange teams with the Denver more or less. DEPTH CHART: Billups/Lowry/I.Smith Lee/JRSmith/Williams Anthony/Budinger Harrington/Hill/Hayes Nene/Miller
Problem is, I think there is no way we get Melo to come here with extension. Plus it's less about helping NYC and more about helping our team. I would much rather see our team keep its best pieces (Scola & Martin) and fill the Good idea though, I never thought about it like that. I'm also not sold on why DEN would taken on the BIG contracts of Martin and Scola if they are rebuilding. It doesn't seem to be the type of rebuilding move that a team in their position should/would make.
Plus with this trade, CP3 is basically a lock for them. They would have the cap space to do it too or they could move Felton+additional to get him sooner. With HOU, I think these moves makes us a legit CONTENDER for at least the next 2-3 yrs. But by then Billups' and Scola's contracts start to come off the books which allows us more flexibility to elongate our competitive/contending status.
I on the other hand do believe Anthony would be in favor of signing an extension with Houston. His marketing options once Yao resigns with the Rockets would be similar to what he'd obtain playing for the Knicks. I am sure Morey can convince him on the fact that a team such as this newly developed one would be set to win NOW and LATER. If for some reason he's not buying that we can convice him to help us get CP3 to come to Houston. This could be accomplished with the following trade: New Orleans get: Brad Miller, Kyle Lowry, Jordan Hill, and Patrick Patterson (Future Pick if necessary) Houston get: Chris Paul Depth Chart now: CP3/I.Smith Billups/JRSmith Anthony/Budinger/Williams Harrington/Hayes Nene/(Yao)
I do like what both Martin and Scola bring (solely offense) but others believe we need some defensive oriented players. Harrington, Billups, and Nene play better O/D than our two best players and by playing Melo and JR together we obtain the offense that Hayes, Lowry and Battier leave behind. If amount of points per game worries you, the Nuggets as a team produce enough points to keep everyone happy. Also, Martin and Brooks are young enough to replace the aging Billups and Harrington so we'd be even in the age aspect. And Scola's production speaks for itself despite the fact he recently entered his third decade of life.
