getting manu and camby might be a stretch but if so we would be a championship contender even if there were any injuries (god forbid)
I like the idea. Removes the logjam at SF Gives us a clutch go to guy in crunch time Maintains defense while adding offense His arrival will most likely mean Brooks will remain the starter at PG though, as neither Iguodala nor Lowry are good outside shooters.
I envision next years team to be VERY similar to what the Magic are doing. They run an impressive inside-outside game with tough defense. The three point barrage is one of the key's to thier success as well as mobile bigs who can clean up mistakes and grab offensive rebounds. With Martin/Brooks/Battier you have deadly three point shooters on all sides of paint which makes it almost impossible to double Yao without conceding open threes. Basically the other team has to decide if they want Yao to post up thier guys 1v1 or give open looks to great shooters. You also have Martin/Brooks who can fly by thier defenders if they over compensate on rotations. Both can pull up for an open midrange jumper or slash to the basket. This usually leaves Scola open for either a layup or elbow jumper. With Iggy, he isnt a consistant shooter, but a facilitator when he has the ball. In our system, we wouldnt be utilizing his strengths. We would be opening up offensive opportunities by posting up Yao. His defense would be nice, but we already have elite level wing defense. He would be useful in the running untempo rotation when Yao sits, but I cant justify 10+ million for that.
I'd agree that the finances are probably the best argument against the idea. I was trying to think of something which would a) Be a clear improvement to the starting lineup b) Would not require "gutting the team" or trading any long-term starters I think this meets both requirements, but it's true that Iggy's contract is pretty big.
Maybe if you traded Jeffries and Ariza, but I have a hard time believing Philly would accept that. Iggy is basically a better version of Ariza. We would be at ~ the same salary for next year relatively, but after that we would be crippled cap wise.
Because LeBron is a winner too, and that's what he likes. Manu doesn't need the ball to be effective, he just needs it if no one besides him can pass the rock. Parker is just a small SG, that's why he handles at the end instead of parker, because he can shoot and pass, Parker can only shoot.
Have you seen his stats lately? You would think since he's their franchise player he would put up superstar stats. But no. He's putting up numbers of a 2nd or 3rd option guy. OMG, we lucked out not trading for him
Iggy's good and would fit next to Martin, but we have far more pressing concerns on the frontline. Trading away Battier, Bud, and the 2011 pick takes away too many trading assets.
Here's an idea: Your trade for Iggy PLUS Aaron+Scola+Fillers for BOSH + TJ Ford (sign and trade obviously) Lowry/Ford Martin/Ariza Iggy/Ariza Bosh/Hill Yao/Hayes Instant contenders IMO.
I have performed a detailed statistical analysis and determined that he is pale because his race is white. Perhaps this eluded you during your initial observations.
i like this idea......i think Manu would be what Brent Barry was suppose to do here last year and Camby would fit right in as Yaos back up are second team could beat our first team AB vs. Kyle Marin vs. Manu Ariza vs. Battier Scola vs. Hill Yao vs. Camby
I think this is a great fallback plan. My only caveat is the starting lineup: Lowry/Brooks Martin/Manu Budinger/Ariza Hill (or Camby)/Scola Yao/Camby The above lineup is more balanced defensively and allows Yao more room in the post, plus it allows Manu to play with both Brooks (similar to Parkers' game) and Scola (great chemistry already). Both units would have at least 2 legit scoring threats as well.
Exactly. Manu is so loved in Spurs land its hard to believe that the organization would ever trade him- especially to another Texas team. He is making $10Mil now, how much and how long do you Manu-Advocates suggest he will be signing for? Did we not just trade away Landry (I'm a big fan of the trade) for Martin, a premier 2 guard? We have seen plenty of different combinations this year that add depth to the SG slot (Lowry/Brooks, Brooks/Martin, Lowry/CBud).
Trade Brooks/Budinger/Battier/Hill to Phoenix for Steve Nash. Send Landry's TE for Robin Lopez. Suns can keep Amare and improve their depth. They won't have to play guys like Dudley, Grant Hill (who may retire), and Clark. Brooks / Dragic Richardson / Barbosa Battier / Budinger Hill / Clark Amare / Amundson Rockets sign Ginobili, add Nash, Lopez, and a 1st round pick. Nash / Lowry Martin / Manu / Taylor Ariza / Aminu (if we can trade up somehow) Scola / Hayes Yao / Lopez
who is this aminu u speek of? anyways here is what i think we should do. we should trade martin jeffries and hill for dwayne wade on a sign and trade. get bosh for scola + filler and jermain taylor. sign manu to the MLE. sign camby to the MLE too. add an healthy yao too that. add a 10-12 1st round draft pick too. and we are TOTALLY contenders with this lineup. brooks/lowry wade/ginobli ariza/cbud bosh/ hayes/draft pick Yao/camby half the current team of today may be gone but atleast we got way better
