I would only due the piston trade is they would include their 2010 Draft pick (which is around #8) ....other wise hell NO!!! --RB
Trade Taylor, Ariza, Hill, 2012 1st rd draft pick for D. Granger, and fillers. If the pacers dont take taylor switch him for brooks.
I think they are gonna "Landry" Budinger, in the sense they flip their stud 2nd rounder for a big prize. Obviously their would be filler from our side. I want Bosh and he could sign here, but I also would not be shocked to see the Rockets get Amare (even though it may be rental).
it has been well reported that Memphis offered Golden state OJ mayo and Hasheem Thabeet for Monta ellis lets include that in a 3 way for us Memphis gets: Monta Ellis Golden state gets: Aaron Brooks Kevin Martin Rockets get: Stephen Curry OJ Mayo Hasheem Thabeet Stephen curry and Mayo are better defenders than Martin/brooks, are younger, and potential to be better and are still crafty passers and shooters who should work great with Yao. Thabeet is backup center we can develop and use after Yao. Golden state gets rid of their situation of guys curry/monta combo which can't work, but while breaking that up, they get a more than solid 1/2 combo that can score a lot in donnie's system. Memphis gets their original deal they offered golden state: Monta for Mayo/thabeet thoughts?
Clever. I'm not sure what motivates Memphis? have they expressed interest? I would totally take steph Mayo and that scrub Thabeet for the vipers. _____________________________________________________________ And for those of you about to have a mild stroke with this thread being back on the front page after the deadline, get over it. My mind wanders. So with the very surprising success of young Darren Collison over in NO, it would seem they'd be more willing to part with CP3 than ever. CP3 is signed to about $14Mil a year at a total of $68Mil until 2013-2014. My interest in CP3 was fairly limited until we brought on Martin. If we can get a PG that is pass first, it would open up Kevin an unreal amount. If we sent away some combination of Brooks, Battier(expiring 2011), Jefferies (expiring 2011), Armostrong (expiring 2011), Ariza, and picks we could package something that would be of enough interest to NO. With Martin's contract here this would most likely require us bringing Yao back for a reduced rate -- Which should be fine because he doesn't need to be playing 30mpg 82games per year. So, if this was somehow maneuvered we would have our big three in - Yao Ming (C) Kevin Martin (SG) Chris Paul (PG) Now toss in our draft pick - Patrick Patterson? (PF) Not too shabby.
From ESPN: Marcus Camby entertains the idea of retiring in Houston [rquoter]"I actually live in Houston in the offseason, so I always thought about in the latter part of my career playing down there. But I like the situation here in Portland. They're definitely in need of big men. So I'll just have to weigh my options."[/rquoter] It adds some wood to the idea fires of getting Camby.
Should the Rockets go after Manu Ginobili in the offseason? Assuming we resign Scola and Lowry, should we go after Manu Ginobili? There are many factors that play into his decision to home to Houston: 1. Bad blood between the Spurs and him when they didn't offer him an extension because of his play in international ball. 2. Close to San Antonio 3. Playing with good friend and fellow countryman Luis Scola 4. Play for a championship contender If we offer Manu the MLE and Camby the LLE I think this team can contend with the Lakers and any other Western Conference: Brooks/Lowry Martin/Manu/Budinger Ariza/Battier Scola/Hill Yao/Camby What you guys think?
I think Manu is the piece that the rockets need the most, great playmaking skills and toughest mentality. However, I think Manu could get an offer that is more than MLE. And, the spurs wouldn't do a s&t with us. I don't see the rockets can acquire him.
I think it's a good idea as long as that contract isn't any longer than 3 years, and preferably only 2. He's getting pretty long in the tooth. Not a whole lot of hair left either.
If no Bosh, Jefferson..etc then draft your lotto pick and sign Manu would make for a VERY interesting team. I'd advocate a signing like Manu would make moving Battier a necessity but remember we would also have a lotto pick that could be a difference maker.
btw, if the rockets could offer him a 5-year MLE, he might consider it. But, I don't think Morey would do it.
Plus we can also at least entertain the idea of signing Camby, since he most likely won't re-sign with Blazers because of Oden and Joel coming back. He did say he would play his latter part of the career with Houston.
He can still score at least 15 ppg and average at least 4 apg. He still has the ability to get to the line and is a great spot up shooter. Playing alongside Scola won't hurt either.
Does the MLE have to be 5 years? I think Morey and Ginobili would agree to something along the lines of 2-3 years.
I was actually the first one to bring up that the Rockets should look into signing Manu. I don't think no team is dumb enough to sign more then the mid level. Maybe if they offered him a 2 year 12 mill, but if he signs with for the full mid level then it evens out since we have no state tax. But I dunno. It depends on how well the Spurs do in the playoffs. If they do an early exit, the Spurs won't try to sign him, but if they get far, they might try to sign him for a year or two.
