Anyone check out the video just uploaded on NBA.com? Aldridge says NYK are not frontrunners for TMac... it's Chicago. David Aldridge speaks about latest trade front Interesting...
i just have a feeling we will deal with the suns...i dont know why i just think that because daryl always makes deals out of the blue.
Why are they running after Tyrus? He is better than Stro, but Chicago is probably going to ask more than NY will. Hinrich is too expensive. Salmons has gone down.
is he?? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/z6HZVdNkkwA&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/z6HZVdNkkwA&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

For fun: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yglea7x Houston trades: McGrady, Cook Houston receives: Tyrus Thomas, Jordan Hill, Darko Milicic, John Salmons New York trades: Hill, Harrington, Hughes, Darko New York receives: McGrady, Miller Chicago trades: Salmons, Tyrus, Miller Chicago receives: Harrington, Hughes, Cook We take back a whopping $5.1M less in salary with the only "bullet" we would have to bite is paying Salmons $5.8M next year (fair value for the type of player he is). NY gets McGrady, moves their chumps and takes back $0 worth of contracts past this season. Chicago gets to move Tyrus, Salmons' contract and Miller in exchange for expirings plus the whole idea of using Harrington as a "see if it works" rental player.

I think Chris Paul could be available this summer... If anyone hasn't been following Darren Collison, he is the real deal. Since CP3s injury, Collison has absolutely dominated the PG position, averaging 23 points and 9 assists. If he continues this pace he is going to put them in a real dilemma, what to do when CP3 comes back? They can't have 2 franchise PGs and absolute nothing everywhere else. Plus with the knee surgery, they don't know how CP3's long term health is, better to trade him now that they can get full value for him. Their best bet is to package CP3 with Posey and possibly Okafor and try to get expiring contracts + young talent + picks for a 2011 FA run. I think Rockets can put together a pretty nice package of players + Picks The trade becomes Chris Paul + James Posey for Battier, Buddinger, Jeffries, Hill, Brooks + 2011 NY Pick + 2010 Rockets Pick. This is really good for NO because they still remain a playoff team, plus two lottery picks, plus they become big players in 2011 FA, plus they have good PF talent in case they decide to trade David West. Rockets Depth Chart after trade CP3, Lowry Martin, JT Ariza, Posey Scola, Chuck Yao, Andersen We will need some good FA signings but this is a championship team.
Do you really think the Hornets would trade CP3 because Collison is having a good rookie season? Plus, i'm sure they wouldn't trade him to a team in their own division....
It will take a kings ransom and a ton of ugly contract coming with it to pry him out of NOLA's hands.
They actually don't have that many ugly contracts, everything other than okafur and posey expires after next season, that's why they need to get rid of posey.
I know they probably will deal West in the off-season....its been some talk about cp3 maybe being on the block but that's only if they are trying really, really hard to save $$$$.
I was thinking the same thing when we played NO a few days ago. Collison is putting up numbers close to what Paul was putting up before he got hurt. I don't think NO will keep both of these guys together long term, so it will be interesting to see what happens.
He's having a monster rookie campaign as a starter, in fact he's probably showing to be the best PG in this year's draft. Bottomline is that he is clearly a starter in this league, and they cannot keep both him an Chris Paul in the long run, one of them has to go.
It's hard to trade a star on a rookie contract, he's gonna make 1.3 million next year, it would be really hard to find a match for that salary.
Mostly because it makes sense for NO both basketball wise and financial wise, they can keep making the playoffs cheaply for the next couple seasons, plus they get some good trading peices and lottery picks that they can try to build again with. It's the best of both worlds, they get to rebuild but not totally go in the crapper in the meantime. The key to the trade is that they get 3 lottery picks in 2 summers, their own and rockets in 2010 and the knicks in 2011.
I heard somewhere that Hornets would rather move to another market than trade Chris Paul. I could be wrong...
