Agreed!! , also by loading up on draft picks it allows the rockets to do some maneuvering during the draft, with that said I would trade with the thunder who own two mid to late 1st rd picks > http://www.mynbadraft.com/2010-NBA-Mock-Draft: Thunder/Rockets trade: Oklahoma city gets: Shane Battier Chuck Hayes The Thunder do it to get veteran experience in Chuck & Battier, so they can make a playoff run Houston gets: Serge Ibaka Etan Thomas(7.9 million in expiring) Thunder's 1st rd draft pick Phx 1st rd(unprotected) draft pick The Rockets do it so they can create more cap room, while at the same time getting a young cheap athletic PF/C with a high upside in Ibaka & get some draft-picks in the process...In addition I would also do a 2nd trade: Phoenix/ Rockets trade: Phx gets: Scola Taylor Dorsey Andersen Houston gets: Barbosa Amundson(expiring) 2010/11 line up: Lowry 6'1| Brooks 6'0 Barbosa 6'4| A. Bradley 6'3(via OKL-22nd pick) Ariza 6'8| Budinger 6'7 | Landry 6'9| Ibaka 6'10| J. Henson 6'10(via PHX-20th pick) Yao 7'6| Camby 7'0*| G. Monroe 6'11(via HOU-14th pick) *via free-agency --RB
Don't trade Brooks or Lowery. PG is set for the next 4 years. Dont trade Landry as he is pretty good and getting better at the 15' jump shot. Dont trade Battier, or Hayes I think they are the glue that binds the chemistry together on this team. Scola too. They give us a blue collar approach that keeps people in check in the locker room. Who do you think hates TMac more Adelman or his teammates? I wouldnt trade Dorsey either because he is going to be good. Wait and see. Trade Anderson, Ariza, Taylor, Conroy, Bud, Cook, and TMac. If the Rockets want to win they will spend max money this offseason, regardless of the LT. Basketball is becoming more and more lopsided with the small markets getting shafted on talent. Ride out the Ming dynasty and see what happens. But you cant rebuild through the draft at this point. And no star rookie will get the minutes needed to make an impact on this team. So while Wall would be cool, I doubt we move up to spend mega bucks on a 1 overall pick when the pick wont help us in the near term. Bosh and Wade should be the immediate focus. No Jazz players BTW...especially that baby Kirilenko.
The original Washington deal for the Rockets is a as good as dead, while T-Mac hopes of going to the Knicks is moving closer to unlikely . . . yet I still see we could get a good deal out of Washington, while pushing T-Mac to New York as both the Knicks and Wizards simply dump salary on each other. For us, we still trade T-Mac (with Cook and someone else most likely, not from our main core though) to the Knicks, as NYK compensates the Wizards with players, while Wizards send us a combination of the following players in a package of two to three (with one NYK player added): Wizards: Miller, Blatche, Foye, McGee, or Young (choose two or three players from that list) - - - on the fence about Jamison, since the salary is too much. On the back end I'll add James, Boykins, and Stevenson, but they likely would be bought out or shipped somewhere else or two New York. Knicks (may also) send us: Jefferies, Chandler, Darko, or Mobley It's almost endless list of salary dumping scenarios the Wiz and Knicks can throw on each other. Why does this work for all parties involve? NYK: Get T-Mac, possibly Jamison or some of the players above. Yet without acquring Jamison, the Knicks could have nearly $45 million to spend in the offseason, which means they could sign one of the big Free agents, T-Mac (at very reduced price), and some quality players without giving up Lee or DG. Wizards: Simply salary dumping (could just as well take on Eddy Curry, if they do decide to trade Haywood to Dallas, just to occupy a pace on the team)...also the player that Washington are letting go. The Rockets: Would receive three to four players (all expiring, except Jefferies, Young, Blatche, or McGee if we received those players, though the last three are pretty soft salary cap). 2 to 3 from the Wizards and 1 to 2 from Knicks. Any combinations (3-4 players) of expiring salaries: Jefferies (2 years), Hughes, Mobley, Hill (2 years), N. Robinson, Oberto, M.Miller, R.Foye, N.Young, A.Blatche (3 years), J.McGee (2 years), and the dreaded Stevenson (with his player option). Essentially, if we received any players out of that group beyond Stevenson and Jefferies. The Rockets could still have $20 something million to spend from expiring salaries that was once occupied by T-Mac and some of the players above. (Especially, if only receive the players with expiring salaries or McGee, Young, or Blatche at their low salary levels). Though, it all rest in the hands of the Knicks, they could make a deal happen for all three teams.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yz3s4t6 Now that Butler appears heading to Dallas, I like something like this.
If we could someone get 2-3 from Washington (and 1 from the Knicks) below: Miller, Young, Foye, McGee (or Blatche) - Chandler, or even Hughes and Darko. We could still be competitive this year, while not really shackling a large percentage salary down long term in the off season. SG/SF: Miller, Young, or Foye (2 of them) with possibly Chandler or Hughes (at best would be neither) C/PF: McGee (or Blatche) and Darko Every salary of those players are safe for the Rockets. Also, we'd have Darko and Blatche (or McGee) to get us through the rest of the season. We get to keep our picks, and still have $20+ million of expiring salaries from these deals (our own expiring salaries aren't included). If you include the expirings of Scola, Landry, Hayes, and Lowry in the offseason...that should leave us with a little over $30 million to spend in the offseason. We should be able to resign most of our expiring guys, while having enough money to get a fairly decent FA. If Landry or Scola leaves (we'd still have possibly McGee or Blatche and cash to chase after another backup power forward).
That's awesome deal for us on paper, but NYK has already said they aren't touching Gallinari. There aren't any players, I'd take from NYK, unless it is to dump salary, maybe Chandler. Wiz, Knicks, Rockets scenario http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yzg8pqr http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yhshx7j http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yjhb7dl
I still think a three way deal with the Wizards and Knicks is possible. Scenario A: It would not be with Butler and Haywood (if the Mavs agree with the Wizards), but if we could trade for Miller, Young and perhaps McGee ... I would pull the trigger also. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeM...tradeId=yhcd95w Rockets line-up: C: Hayes/McGee/Anderson PF: Scola/Landry/Dorsey SF: Ariza/Budinger SG: Miller/Young/Taylor PG: Brooks/Lowry With trading Battier away and trading for Mobley's contract we would have more space to resign Scola and/or Lowry (and/or Miller). Scenario B: When the Wizards aren't willing to trade McGee away (and I would be a little shocked if they do trade him away) we can still get a needed big guy. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeM...tradeId=yfnz3xt Rockets line-up: C: Hayes/Milicic/Anderson PF: Scola/Landry/Dorsey SF: Ariza/Budinger SG: Miller/Young/Taylor PG: Brooks/Lowry With Milicic the Rockets could have an extra expiring contract (next to Mobley's contract) that could help them to resign Scola and Lowry, or to sign a big FA (Bosh or Joe Johnson) this summer. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=181879&page=7&pp=20
Remember, we could do those deals, possibly without trading Battier. Since, T-Mac's salary (and NYK acquistions from Washington) would be equalizing the deal. Again, if we got a deal for two swing men (Young, Foye, Miller, and even Hughes, yuck) and one or two big men (Darko, McGee, and Blatche). We'd still have alot of money to use in off-season, dumping Battier, though would free up, a good amount of money though. We probably could make a run for Joe Johnson.

This would require the Knicks getting Mobley's situation straightened out with the league, and the Rockets would hopefully be able to work out a deal with Stoudemire. The Suns get Landry and Ariza is return for letting Stoudemire go. Knicks get a free look at McGrady for the rest of the year. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yldttgc I'd gladly switch Ariza for Battier if the Suns are up for it, but I don't think they would be.
Take out Harrington and add Larry Hughes or Darko and Chandler. Send Harrington to PHX instead of Cat.
Elliis and Biedrins? Maybe throw in Randolph(Morey really loves him). But we'll just say Ellis and Biedrins for now. Would you do it? Who would you give up if you did? (Keep in mind you gotta give to get and also let's keep it realistic. Sorry, Dorsey, Taylor, and Cook are not prospects teams want or are drooling over.) http://www.mercurynews.com/columns/ci_14397734?nclick_check=1 Then again, not sure why I'm asking. No way Morey would take on Ellis and/or Biedrins.
Not sure, but we should never look forward to moving Brooks and is who they'd want. I'm not even sure if Brooks and Ellis can co-exist on the same court who both need the ball in their hands. Both are iso-players. Both have alot of speed however. Ellis is a 'me first' type scorer. Unless he adapts to play the 2 guard and let Brooks handle the offense and run it, then maybe he can find a role. His .per indicates that he needs the ball to score and be effective from that mid-range/long-range and attacking mind set. His .per suggest he is not a very good player, just puts up alot of points. Beidrins is costly for a back-up center. Unless Yao or the team has plans to move on, he'd be ideal for the starting role. But even for that kind of money is eating into your cap space. Then your stuck with him and can't move him to upgrade when neccessary. I'd be fine with just taking on Ellis, but Beidrins too?
Houston receives Richardson/Ilgauskas/Moon/Cleveland's 1st round pick. Phoenix receives McGrady/Budinger/Gibson/Hickson. Cleveland receives Stoudemire/Battier.
Guys we have to be realistic with trades that benefit both us and them. No point posting these fantasy trades !!! Here is my take The only realistic trade is with New York who actually want Mcgrady. HOUSTON - trade Mcgrady + Cook = 26 million KNICKS - trade Harrington + n.robinson + L Hughes. = 27million Houston Benefits - All 3 contracts are expiring this year - All 3 can contribute to the team this year for playoffs - No point letting Mcgrady expire if we can get expiring contracts of players who can contribute this year New york Benefit - Gets McGrady which they want - All 3 players they trade are not in their long term plans - none are starters - they can tank for draft picks... This is a fair trade on both sides. What do you guys think ?
