I think he's referring to Ginobili's health, not his ability. I like that Mike Miller/Caron Butler trade but they're definitely not young talent. Anyways, wanted to get mine on record for when Morey shocks the world. Houston gets Chris Bosh Andre Iguodala Toronto gets Thad Young Elton Brand Houston #1 pick OR Sam Dalembert Speights or Williams Houston #1 pick Philadelphia gets Tracy McGrady That probably puts over the LT but I think that's the kind of combo that Les would pay the LT to put around Yao.
Ok I'm gonna throw it out there and take the abuse.. We know DM was looking at Amare sometime last year before the trade deadline.. So wouldn't this be a good opportunity? Tmac + Landry or Amare + Jason Richardson.. I know people are big on our boy Landry but Amare is the real deal too.. We would have to give a PF because Amare plays the PF spot.. Jason Richardson would be a big + off the bench..
Quick Question. Why would Phoenix do this deal?<p>They are playing pretty good right now, and didn't they just sign Nash to an extention.
Alright, time to throw my hat in the ring. T-Mac to the Knicks for Eddy Curry, Chris Duhon, and David Lee or Danilo Gallinari (both Lee and Gallinari work). Knicks shed Curry's contract; that alone is reason enough for them to do it. Duhon is not really part of their plans, so he's a throw-in. Lee/Gallinari both give the Rockets some talent to look at and flexibility in re-signing players. The Rockets wouldn't touch Jeffries; he's redundant with Ariza and Battier already on the team. Overall chance the Knicks would do it: 60%-80% -- it just depends on whether or not they're willing to touch Lee or DG to dump Curry's contract. Duhon and Lee expire this year. Lee gives another player at the PF/C spot and allows (more importantly) the Rockets flexibility in re-signing PFs in the offseason. Duhon's $9m expires next year along with Yao's contract. If Yao's willing to sign an extension at a lower price (think $12-$14m per year), the Rockets could potentially offer max money in 2011. Overall chance the Rockets would do it: How much do they want Kevin Durant? If the Rockets are rebuilding now, swing for the fences. If not, no chance they touch the Knicks. I'm assuming the Rockets would pretty much immediately release Curry.
Not saying yall will do it, but t-mac for arenas would be a perfect match. I am certain that washington wants to wiggle out of that contract. The problem is that arenas is now under investigation. However arenas to the rockets, the way you alls team is set up would be a great marriage.
Do you agree with that? I guess luxury tax is the problem. If the nba runs a tight cap next year there ought to be a provision for teams that signed these monster contracts under different standards were they wouldn't have to pay luxury taxes, but the problem is defining what players are eligible for luxury tax exceptions.
I agree. Why trade for Gilbert when the Rockets have Brooks and Lowry contributing very well if not better than him. I believe if that was the case and they considered that trade on of the two would probably have to be included.
okay, here is my suggestion: Rockets trade McGrady ($22.8M, exp.) to Washington for Mike Miller, Mike James and Fabricio Oberto (combined $18.2M, all three of them exp. contracts). Why the Rockets do it: The only player in this deal the Rockets are interested in is Mike Miller. The Rockets desperately need depth at SG and Mike Miller provides that. If Battier or Ariza go down for a longer period, we are in serious trouble. Miller's contract ($9.8M) expires after this season, so he will probably leave this summer. On the other hand it is not impossible that he likes the situation here (hey, at least he doesn't have to be afraid to be shot in the locker room here) and can be signed to a reasonable deal. James and Oberto are throw-ins who expire after the season. Aside from that, the Rockets save $4.6M in this deal. The Rockets only do this deal when they can't find a better long-term solution, i.e. finding another deal where they acquire young talent or draft picks WITHOUT taking back bad contracts. This could be the case, since the market for McGrady's contract isn't all that great IMO. I don't buy all those "rumors" for Butler or Iggy. We would have to take back bad contracts and Morey simply WILL NOT do that. Why the Wizards do it: Well, they only do it if they believe in the "splashability" of McGrady, as some other poster called it in another thread (more media attention, ticket sales). Additionally they would use McGrady as rotation player at SG/SF. They have a lot of talent (Arenas, Butler, Jamison) that is not meshing, they hope that the insertion a high IQ player (basketball-wise) with great passing skills will help them to turn things around. Right now they are just 3 games out of the 8th place in the weak, weak East.
I actually like the sound of that trade. I believe we would inherit Mike Miller's Bird Rights as well, since he is still on the same 6-year deal he signed with the Grizzlies in '03. So, we could go above the cap to re-sign him if preferred.
A Rockets, Wizards & Timberwolves trade idea: Wizards get: McGrady Dorsey Taylor Timberwolves get: Caron Butler Rockets get: Mike Miller JaVale McGee Mark Blout Rights to Ricky Rubio Any thoughts?
Trade b/t Pistons & Rockets Pistons get: Shane Battier Joey Dorsey & Rockets Get: Jason Maxiell Austin Daye why the rockets do it.... <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/lVAITippNJ8&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/lVAITippNJ8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/HuKzAs2TWWs&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HuKzAs2TWWs&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> -RB
Hey, I like it! For the Rockets it would be outstanding, I think. But I am pretty sure Washington wouldn't do it. I mean they give up Butler, Miller and McGee and everything they get back (aside from cap space) is a washed up McGrady, a football player (Dorsey) and a totally unknown rookie (Taylor). I guess to make it work we would have to send more to Washington, i.e. good, low-priced players like Budinger, Andersen, Hayes - then they might consider it. I have no idea how high Minnesota is on Rubio, but getting Butler for Rubio and Blount would be an okay deal I guess. BTW, how good is McGee? His stats aren't exactly overwhelming (2.5 PPG, 1.5 RPG in 9 minutes). I've never seen him play, so I just don't know.
