Heres a suggestion from a Raptor Fan: Houston trades: TMac, Scola, Lowrey Battier Gets: Bosh, Jose, Banks, Derozan Houston gets a near hometown boy who would form a ridiculous frontcourt with a healthy Yao. Jose is a calm cool pg who can distribute and shoot feeding off the atention the frontcourt would get. Toronto gets a solid With Qualifying offers made to Scola and Lowry in the offseason or even if they are resigned with the QO as the starting years salary, the team would have nine players under contract but be about 23 million under the cap, allowing us to pursue 2 free agents. JJ and a defensive center. Jack/Lowry Battier/Belli/Weems Turk/McGrady/Wright Scola/Amir/Evans/Pops Bargs/Rasho/Pops I would do it Calderon/Brooks/Banks Derozan/Taylor Ariza/Budinger Bosh/Landry Yao/Hayes/Andersen
I really think we should concetrate on teams that are definately willing to trade. In my opinion Golden State und Chicago are two teams that have to change their rosters asap. Therefore my trade proposal would be: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yj6ylld - Houston gets am solid PG Backup, an All Star caliber SG and a Backup Center who can shoot and therefore even can play besides Yao. - Chicago basically gets a lot expiring contracts and a solid Rose Back up in Lowry. - GS finally gets 2 above avarage defenders in Battier and Hayes as well as am potential 25ppg scorer who would replace Maggette right from the start. Morey....do it!
Since the link above doenst work and im not able to edit, this is what i was talking about. Chicago gets: McGrady, Lowry, Randolph, Cook GS gets: Battier, Hayes, Salmons Houston gets: Ellis, Hinrich, Miller
Houston Trade Breakdown Change in Team Outlook: +26.9 ppg, +7.0 rpg, and +3.6 apg. Incoming Players Anthony Randolph 6-10 PF from LSU 11.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.1 apg in 22.2 minutes Corey Maggette 6-6 SF from Duke 16.2 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.0 apg in 26.5 minutes Jared Jeffries 6-11 SF from Indiana 4.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.6 apg in 21.6 minutes Cuttino Mobley 6-4 SG from Rhode Island No games yet played in 2009-2010 Al Harrington 6-9 PF / SF from St. Patrick's (HS) 19.7 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.5 apg in 31.1 minutes Outgoing Players Jermaine Taylor 6-4 SG from Central Florida 1.9 ppg, 0.1 rpg, 0.1 apg in 3.0 minutes David Andersen 0-0 from 5.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 0.7 apg in 13.5 minutes Joey Dorsey 6-9 PF from Memphis No games yet played in 2009-2010 Brian Cook 6-9 PF from Illinois 1.0 ppg, 0.3 rpg, 0.0 apg in 2.2 minutes Luis Scola 6-9 PF from Buenos Aires (Argentina) 14.3 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 1.8 apg in 29.8 minutes Tracy McGrady 6-8 SG / SF from Mount Zion Christian Academy (HS) 1.5 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.0 apg in 7.7 minutes Houston - Loses Luis but gains Mobley's insurance paid contract to help the pain of being over the LT, Harrington which Morey loves, Maggette which isn't all that bad and Randolph a young PF with great potential. We do have to eat Jeffries contract for another year but he is still serviceable. Still missing a big man though and now we have even more of a problem with Landry, Harrington and Randolph at PF and Battier, Jeffries and Maggette at SF. But if Scola can slide over, I would think one of those PFs could slide over. This trade isn't about winning a ring this year - it's about gathering pieces that we can use or trade next year. Golden State Trade Breakdown Change in Team Outlook: -1.2 ppg, +1.3 rpg, and +1.8 apg. Incoming Players David Andersen 0-0 from 5.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 0.7 apg in 13.5 minutes Luis Scola 6-9 PF from Buenos Aires (Argentina) 14.3 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 1.8 apg in 29.8 minutes Nate Robinson 5-9 PG from Washington 9.4 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 3.1 apg in 21.0 minutes Outgoing Players Devean George 6-8 SF from Augsburg-MN 3.0 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 8.5 minutes Anthony Randolph 6-10 PF from LSU 11.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.1 apg in 22.2 minutes Corey Maggette 6-6 SF from Duke 16.2 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.0 apg in 26.5 minutes GS - Gets a pg to give Monta a breather and a good PF while unloading Maggette. New York Trade Breakdown Change in Team Outlook: -25.7 ppg, -8.3 rpg, and -5.4 apg. Incoming Players Jermaine Taylor 6-4 SG from Central Florida 1.9 ppg, 0.1 rpg, 0.1 apg in 3.0 minutes Joey Dorsey 6-9 PF from Memphis No games yet played in 2009-2010 Brian Cook 6-9 PF from Illinois 1.0 ppg, 0.3 rpg, 0.0 apg in 2.2 minutes Tracy McGrady 6-8 SG / SF from Mount Zion Christian Academy (HS) 1.5 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.0 apg in 7.7 minutes Devean George 6-8 SF from Augsburg-MN 3.0 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 8.5 minutes Outgoing Players Nate Robinson 5-9 PG from Washington 9.4 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 3.1 apg in 21.0 minutes Jared Jeffries 6-11 SF from Indiana 4.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.6 apg in 21.6 minutes Cuttino Mobley 6-4 SG from Rhode Island No games yet played in 2009-2010 Al Harrington 6-9 PF / SF from St. Patrick's (HS) 19.7 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.5 apg in 31.1 minutes NY - Trades for expiring contracts and a couple of minium paid players which allows them to go after 2 max contract players next year and keep Lee and Gallinari.
@Artv: We take back Maggette and Jeffries's crap contracts, lose Scola, and get.... Harrington and Randolph. Good job, you came up with a deal that's even stupider than trading Budinger, Landry, and a draft pick for Randolph.
Harrington >> Scola and can become one of our primary scorers (taking that title from Ariza - please...) Jeffries is a decent player and his contract is only 1 more year. NY wants him gone to free up more 2010 room not because of he's a bad player. Maggette is a good player (almost 50% shooter for a SF) with a 3 year deal. I'm not even sure GS wants to trade him that bad. Overall we are getting 3 players that can play and a good prospect in Randolph for 1 player that can play, 1 player to be gone next year, 1 player who is our victory cigar and 2.5 (DA is the .5) players who were signing mistakes. I know it means very little but the point difference is almost +27 on our side and Jeffries is more of a D player. I think this deal gives us more O and D than what we are sending out.
Great take Asian. Your are right on with this post. Fans tend to over-rate their own players. Murphy is a solid pro. I have never once heard a knock on him. The guy is a hard-worker and puts up All-Star numbers. Comparing him to C-Bud is amusing.
http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/view/11838893 http://nba.fanhouse.com/2009/12/17/mcgrady-wants-to-re-sign-with-houston/ This means McGrady has no grounds to claim any grievance. Any team who trades for him has the right to sit him for the rest of the season to collect the insurance money. On a side note, he really thinks he's 90% now? That's some major decline, Stevie Franchise v2.0? For the McGrady fans: http://nba.fanhouse.com/2009/12/17/mcgrady-wants-to-re-sign-with-houston/ An unlikely but possible scenario is the Rockets sign McGrady for the the vet min in FREE AGENCY after trading him THIS SEASON for players or assets. After it's all said and done, McGrady's going to the highest bidder. As Utah stands right now they owe around $12M of luxury tax. If McGrady were to sit from Dec 25th to the end of the season, the team who holds his insured contract would save around $12M (80% of McGrady's pro-rated salary). AK47 + Harpring (out for season, unofficially retired) + NY's 2010 pick for McGrady or Boozer + Korver + Harpring (All expiring) + NY's 2010 pick for McGrady *Rockets then flip Boozer over to CHI or MIA or NY (Mobley's contract)
Worzel, you are a great poster and all, but your trade scenerios lately are pretty wild. You usually have like 14 guys moving in your trades, with us totally re-tooling the roster. Keep it more simple. We got a great core we need to hold on to. This particular one isnt bad, but I doubt we trade with any rival teams.
The simplest thing would be trading Landry, Battier, and Cook for Bosh. Would Toronto get a better offer than that? Doubtful. Then just let McGrady's contract expire, resign Bosh, and sign someone like Mike Miller or Kyle Korver for the full MLE. PG: Brooks/Lowry SG: Miller or Korver/Taylor SF: Ariza/Budinger PF: Bosh/Scola C: Yao/Hayes
You know, I don't mind Worzel's idea (others have posted similar ideas) about trading McGrady to the Jazzholes for Kirilenko and Harpring's expiring and that Knicks draft pick. Kirilenko would have just one more grotesque salary year and then would be, what? 29 only? Re-sign him to a more reasonable deal? I know he's a flopper from hell but he can pass, block shots, shoot the three, run the floor. Morey said in his recent interview that he doesn't want to trade our players except for an All Star. Which is just common sense, but still. I think the Jazz would be more inclined to keep that NY pick, though. It gives them a lot of leverage. The incentive for Jazz to make such a trade would be to get out from under some of their luxury tax bill. Kirilenko + Harpring, that's T-mac's salary. Maybe we could get Ronnie Brewer in the deal. Guy plays D and runs the floor. OR, since in his recent interview Morey sounds as if we might not be able to afford Luis next year, flip Kirilenko and Scola for Bosh?
If they sit McGrady they can cancel out the their luxury tax bill from the insurance money collected. Though they need to start sitting him from this month to be able to match up the dollars.
Now that Dec 18th is done and dusted... Rockets no longer have the option of trading McGrady for expiring smaller expiring contracts with the hope of flipping those contracts in a package at the trade deadline. Any player/s traded for now can only be dealt on their own as the 2 month trade restriction takes them over Feb 18th (trade deadline) For example: McGrady for Mobley + Darko + Robinson At trade deadline: No, Mobley + Robinson + Cook for X + Y Yes, Mobley for X + Y
My attempt to get Randolph: http://www.realgm.com/src_tradechecker/3/ Houston trades JT, Dorsey, Anderson, Cook Gets Randolph and Mohammed (from Charlotte) GS trades Randolph and Maggette GS gets Diaw, JT, Dorsey Charl trades Mohammed, Diaw Gets Andersen, Cook Maggette Why: It's a random trade idea. Charlotte decides their team is going nowhere. They like the cap relief of Cook, Brown is intrigued by the idea of a C who can shoot from the outside, Maggette is a scorer who draws fouls? Maybe Brown has given up on Diaw. They like not having to pay Mohammed for another year. GS gets rid of Maggette and Randolph. Nelson likes the idea of Diaw as a passing, shooting from outside PF. He gets Dorsey as a running PF (who is supposedly not very bright so this helps him fit even better with GS) and JT who is really just to match salaries. We get Randolph, the prize of the deal. We don't give up much and have to take back Mohammed's contract which is pretty short (though overpaid).
