If the Rockets want to trade McGrady and add pieces that will not upset the chemistry and rotation, this trade might work: Houston gets: Jared Jeffries from NY -- Long, good defensive multi postition role player Darko Milicic from NY -- Big center who can shot from outside, role player Cuttino Mobley from NY -- Contract 2nd round draft pick from NY Courtney Lee from NJ -- Solid 2 guard who can shoot and play solid defense New York gets: Tracy McGrady from Houston Brian Cook from Houston Trenten Hassell from New Jersey Rafer Alson from New Jersey New Jersey gets: Al Harrington from NY Joey Dorsey from Houston

Suns, Wizards, and Pacers could be the teams looking to shed salary. Suns have a recent history of doing just that but are winning. Wizards have too many bad contracts just to get Caron Butler. Leaving Pacers as most likely? Pacers not making money or winning for several years. It's not looking like that's going to change. Time for a new direction/identity? Granger a possible trade target? Knicks use a TE to trade for Dorsey and the Rockets are a Brian Cook away from getting under the tax. Head (non-guaranteed) can be moved to the Knicks via the vet min and Diener (expiring) waived to create roster space. Pacers reduce their payroll by $4.9M + 80% of Mobley pro-rated salary. Next season they reduce their payroll by a further $14.6M because of this deal. That's likely to be an under the salary cap payroll. Brooks, Ford, Price D.Jones, Rush Murphy, Chandler Landry, Hansbrough, McRoberts Hibbert, S.Jones Dunleavy, Lowry Ariza, Budinger Battier, Granger, Hayes Scola, Andersen, Darko
The Knicks probably aren't going to trade their three most valuable assets to anyone without dumping Jeffries/Curry in the process.
Their most valuable? I thought Gallinari, Lee, Robinson, Douglas, and Harrington would be more valuable. Even Hughes who's an expiring contract can be useful to a team in the meantime unlike Darko. The Knicks have been interested in McGrady since last season. Before T-Mac was traded to Houston from Orlando the Pacers were reportedly frontrunners in getting him. Walsh was in charge of Indiana back then.
I apologize, I probably should have been clearer. I meant that those three are their best TRADABLE assets. Anyhow, the Knicks are obviously looking to dump their 2 year contracts, so Curry would have to be thrown in to any trade involving Chandler/Cuttino IMO.
Who in their right mind wants to trade in order to aquire Tracy McGrady? He is coming off microfracture surgery, has yet to play this season and has one year left on his contract. There is no garuntee if the guy is traded that he would sign with whatever team he is traded. Way too much risk for almost half a season of unknown expectations. Besides, the best the Rockets could hope for is another player(s) with a similar contract and to garuntee to sign anybody in the offseason. Also, Houston has a major Yao issue, as in the guy's career is at its end. No free-agent in the Wade mold or even Bosh mold will want to sign with Rockets in the offseason if they haven't required a legit big to play the 5. Their best option is to keep McGrady and hope to resign him in the offseason.
I think the point of acquiring McGrady is to dump salary in the form of All Stars or near-All Stars, while maybe acquiring one or two of our young up-and-coming players who are currently somewhat "under"paid.
The bolded part is exactly why teams might want McGrady. Having 23 million off the books would help quite a bit for anyone who's interested in chasing after Lebron or Wade or whatever - not that I think a trade will go down until he gets back.
If I had to guess I would say the Cavs. Why?? so they could throw ALOT of $$$$ at LeBron so he can stay. Money and a good team will always keep the player. Most of the time. Plus he is in the East so he has a better chance than being in the West.
Dude, Its still way to early to come up with that conclusion, lets first see how his body reacts to the surgery, b/f claiming his career is near the end.... -RB
$23 million? Cleveland has $33 million coming off the books with Shaq and Big Z. New York has $55 million coming off the books with Robinson, Hughes, Mobley, Harrington, Curry and Milicic. I don't think New York or Cleveland has another $23 million dollars invested in the rest of the team, and if either traded to get McGrady they'd be giving up the rest of their team. As far as free-agents in Houston are concerned, Cleveland, New Jersey, New York, Chicago and Miami's money are just as good. Why would a $17-20 million free-agent risk the next years of his career seeing how Yao reacts to his surgery with no legit big man? That essentially means no contender status.
Houston & Philadelphia Trade Houston Gets: Samuel Dalembert Andre Iguodala Jrue Holiday Unprotected 1st round pick (cough*John Wall*cough) Philadelphia Gets: Tracy McGrady Aaron Brooks Shane Battier -RB
It is hard to get an unprotected first pick especially when one of the players you receive is all-star caliber

my random trade not sure if it was posted before anywhere in this thread Houston Trades: Tracy McGrady to Charlotee receives back Tyson Chandler Boris Diaw works via espn trade checker Tyson cant be traded until tomorrow per league rules Tracy goes back to NC (played high school ball there) gives the Bobcats that star that MJ wantsas well as major cap room for this offseason. Chandler: 11 mil expiring this year...good center to have to block shots if he re-signs a great backup to Yao...doesnt seem he is fitting in well in charlotte right now Diaw: overpaid at 9 mill with another 2 years left on his deal but talented PF who is a great passer and can sort of be a chris webber lite in adeleman's system...diaw hasnt produced the same since he was taken out of play making duties in charlotte probably would do him well for a change of city i think the trade works out for both teams of course better for houston edit: i also think that this would get houston under the LT as well
Diaw's work ethic makes McGrady look like Kobe. He's a frustrating player to support - I would stay away from him.
Here is me discussing some Bosh ideas with Raptor fans: http://www.raptorsforum.com/f/f5/raptorsforum-trade-proposals-thread-1882-133.html Can get a good feel for what they are looking for.
Only problems I see in this is: 1. Chandler's done. He's not even the Chicago Bulls Tyson Chandler anymore. 2. Brown, supposedly, loves Diaw and I doubt they would trade him away for a swingman who may or may not be ready to play. 3. I think, if they had wanted McGrady, why wouldn't they have just signed Iverson to a non-guaranteed contract? I mean, Iverson would have been cheaper, the Bobcats wouldn't give up anything, Brown's coached AI before, etc.
