A player I would like Morey to target is Andray Blatche of the Wizards. I know he is probably a hard player to acquire, but he has had his minutes sliced since Jamison came back from an injury. I think Blatche has a reasonable contract, is still young and has a lot of upside.
not seen butler too much.. is he a GOOD playmaker? and do you guys really think tht Caron Butler will put us over the top next season when Yao returns?
Well their main pieces: Arenas: great player but injury prone and crazy contract. Doubt Morey would touch him. Also plays a position we are pretty deep at, but sliding him to SG could work. That contract though.... Butler: Decent contract, maybe a guy Morey targets but has been slumping big time this year for no apparent reason. I know we went after him last year, maybe we try again this year. Probably the best value of thier stars. Jamison: Very good but old. Also plays a position where we are stacked. I dunno if he is worth what he is getting paid (for us) when Scola and Landry already give GREAT production. Miller: Good player, but getting up there in age and is probably overpaid at this point. Plays alot like Budinger too. They have nice pieces but I dunno if any of them fit nesecarily. Arenas would be great if he was paid half as much for half as long and was 4 inches taller. Ive always liked Miller but in the old team, not really since adding Ariza/Brooks. I might consider gambling on Arenas if they added Miller or Butler with 2 future firsts non protected. I dont see them doing that however.
To move Arenas, they are almost going to have to offer up their first rounder. His value is so low right now. Brendan Haywood would be a center for us to pick up. And he is on an expiring deal. So, it would be interesting to see if Morey would take Arenas to get Haywood and Washington's first round pick this season in exchange for McGrady and our first rounder with us keeping the highest pick.
I'd take it, definitely. But please be realistic in random trade ideas. For the love of God why would the 76ers trade Iqoudula for a has been?
Tmac and Brian Cook + Dorsey (but Dorsey is in D-League) would work....u have to add Brian Cook then if this works, after this year Brand + Andersen + _______ for Bosh + Marco Belinelli
Maybe I was a bit unfair with that comment. I think Iguodala is a very good player, and he'd be great on the Rockets. But I don't see the 76ers dumping their best player just to rid themselves of Elton Brand.
I'll play the game with the wizards. I'm the wizards and i know you're trying to dump tracy, here is what i want: Tracy and brooks for arenas and you can have miller. If you want butler, its going to cost you landry. Thats how the game is going to be played. You want blatche? If you want blatche, its going to cost you buddinger.
I disagree, last night Bosh dropped 31-16 with 9 offensive rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, with just 2 turnovers, and 2 fouls. This season he has improved his rebounding and his ability to get to the foul line. He is the only willing defender on a team that refuses to play defense. The dude would be a monster here.
Depends on what they think they have. If they think that their 5-12 start is due to injuries and a new system, maybe not. But if they think that this team is deeply flawed (which I would think because they lack a distributing PG for all of their scorers) then getting rid of your only big longterm commitments makes sense. If the team still sucks, they'd still have A.I. to keep that fans engaged, they'd have three young guys with promise in Speights/Williams/T.Young, a lottery pick in a supposedly top-heavy draft, and every player on their roster (except Iverson and those on rookie deals) would expire in 2011, making them players in that market (Yao/Boozer/Melo). I think its a great opporitunity for them to reinvent their franchise on the fly. As for us... I actually think the bigger risk is on our end for taking on a 30 year old with injury problems and 4 years left on his contract. I agree that Iggy fits this current team very well as a guy who can contribute without having the ball in his hands. Our fast break would be lethal with him and Ariza on the wings. (drool.....) Of course the big question is Brand. If he sucks, we're stuck with him for 4 years. I don't think he'll be 2005 Elton Brand, but I don't think he'll be garbage either. If he doesn't regain his old form, I could see him playing the way Antonio McDyess played for Detroit his injuries (his numbers dont stand out as he only played about 22 mins/game but he was very effective and selfless during his time there). Obviously thats not worth 15+ million/season, but he wont be utterly useless. If Brand regains his form then we would have 3 great PF's which could open up future trade opporitunities to improve other areas. I actually don't think TMac for Iggy+Brand is so terrible for either side. It definitely has is risks but there really is no such thing as a sure thing. I would actually pull the trigger on it, but I'ma gambler by nature. I wouldn't be upset if a trade with these players being the principle pieces swapped went down.
Trade Idea with Minnesota: Houston trades: McGrady, Dorsey & Taylor Minnesota trades: Blount, Cardinal, Gomes, Wilkins & rights to Rubio. Houston then cuts Cardinal. What do you think?
